It's a regular
Chatterbox: Inkwell
It's a regular
It's a regular summer evening. You have your window open, and a faint but cool breeze blows in. Suddenly, the wind blows harder and colder, and a number of dried leaves and a white envelope blows in. You bend down to pick up the envelope and find, to your surprise, that it is closed with a medieval-looking wax seal. The seal bears an emblem of a dragon, curved around a tree. Inside is a letter.
Greetings, CBer:
If you are reading this letter, you have been invited to an exclusive trip. Our organization has found disturbances in an unknown mountain range. We mean to seek out this disturbance and study it; it appears to be a living species. Your assistance is crucial to this project. Though it is entirely at your discretion, we hope you choose to come. If you do so, please fill out the form attatched and leave it on your windowsill with this invitation. Regards,
Lady Saga Tremayne
As you open the envelope to look for the form, you find two pieces of paper. One is folded neatly and seems to be the same cream-colored paper that the invitation was written on. The other is slightlly crumpled and is made of a different paper. It's darker, and bears a water-stain in one corner. Of course, you open the crumpled one. It appears to be completely blank, but as you turn it this way and that, you notice faint and hastily scribbled lettering, reading: Help, CBer! You and the others must go to Lady Tremayne's "expedition," but you must only pretend to follow her orders. What she intends to trap and train is a wild beast, and one that must be protected. I am disguised, but I will give you a message when the time comes.
As soon as you finish reading the note, it crumbles away to dust in your hands. The other paper is a the form:

On a Saturday a few days after you filled out the form, just as you start to wonder whether the whole thing is some elaborate hoax, another letter flutters through the window. This one is a little more cryptic:
Please meet at the gates of Coyote Creek Park. 3:00 PM.
You figure it's all probably safe, so around mid-afternoon you head down to the park with your bags and the letter. A couple of other kids are already there, some of them talking amongst themselves.
Soon everyone has arrived. At precisely 3:00 a weathered-looking, dark-green SUV drives up, and out of the passenger side steps a tall woman. She surveys you and the others and smiles.
"Hello, children," she says. "I am Lady Tremayne. I appreciate your coming; this will be of great assistance to our movement."
With much exchange of glances you and the others introduce yourselves. Lady Tremayne claps her hands, businesslike. "Now!" she says. "Let us go! Much more will be revealed to you..."
The back of the SUV is spacious; despite its outer appearance, the inside of the car is spotlessly clean and modern-looking (complete with a ceiling monitor). Once you're seated, the engine starts and you begin to drive.
You don't, as you expect, drive out of the park. Lady Tremayne's driver turns the wheel in an abrupt left, and you start driving. Into the park.
The car drives onward, and then cuts right through the foliage of the park. There are a few startled gasps from the others. Lady Tremayne turns, smiling slightly.
"Don't worry," she says, and hits a button on the dashboard. The ceiling monitor you noticed before pops forward, and a video begins to play.
The video shows a number of people -- you catch Lady Tremayne here and there -- in a forested mountain range. You watch a research team tracking and scouting out areas of the forest.
And then...a roar. It's unlike anything you've ever heard, deeper than a lion, louder, and it's definitely not a mammalian sound. It's hard, cold, loud, almost hissing.
It's something else.
You feel a cold shiver trickle down your spine.
At this sound, Lady Tremayne presses another button on the dashboard, and the video pauses. She turns around again, and smiles a smile with just a hint of slyness in it.
"So," she says, softly. "What do you think?"
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
and there you go! I'm excited :)
(April 11, 2020 - 1:34 pm)
Sorry, but what exactly does one do now? I'm really sorry, I've never done an RP before and I have no idea what to do...
(April 14, 2020 - 5:04 pm)
Blackfooted Bobcat, I think you write more of the story from your character's point of view. You can also do it from a third person perspective.
Evergreen, great job! It really pulled me in.

- Trillium -
Her qustion was met with silence. Lady Tremayne’s smile widened and she turned back to the front. The sly smile still on her lips.
Trillium shuddered, the roar ringing in her ears. What have I got myself into? she asked herself. She glanced around. The silence of the car pressed on her eardrums.
Emekittycom k had taken her tiara off and was nervously running her fingers around the jewels.
Belle was staring tranfixed at the ceiling monitor. Her hands clenched into fists in her lap.
Megumi had her stuffed tabby cat clutched to her chest. Her tangled black hair covered her face, but when she shifted in her seat Trillium say Megumi’s green eyes were wide and frightened looking.
Dusk was staring at her hands which were clasped in her lap so tightly the knuckles showed white.
Fiona was twirling a strand of brown hair around her finger. Her freckles standing out a little more than usual on her face.
Fia was staring out a window. Her gray eyes apprehensive.
Only the girl in the unicorn shirt, Sally, seemed unphased. She was bouncing her unicorn stuffy on her lap and staring out a window like Fia. But Sally’s eyes were blue and excited, a happy smile was on her face.
Trillium turned to look out a window too. Her hand strayed up to the hidden pendant of her necklace. Her sense of dread grew as they drove deeper into the park. The light darkened as they drove, and the atmosphere of the car grew tenser.

Hey, I know it's probably too latee, but can I join?

Megumi -
As scared as Megumi was, anger still prevailed. Words from the letter swirled around in her mind - "What she intends into trap and train a wild beast, and one that must remain protected." While Megumi was of the opinion that every animal deserved to be protected, her first angst-racked thought had been one of the critically endangered and likely extinct eastern pumas who still hopefully roamed the shadowed forests and all their other habitats, but the roar.... Besides being deeply chilling, it had terminated that thought - pumas couldn't roar, and even if they could, no feline could make that sound. Not that the species truly mattered. Megumi was going to protect the animal no matter what.
The sound of someone's voice catapulted Megumi out of her troubled thoughts. In a second, it was clear it was Sally asking Fia - not her - a question, which relieved her for a second. That too was quickly terminated when Megumi saw that she was surrounded with people. Starting to feel panicky, Megumi clutched Amethyst Dreamchaser tighter. Amethyst Dreamchaser hugged back.
Almost reaching to grab her notebook and pencil from one of he many pockets she had sewn onto the inside of her cloak, Megumi resisted and lowered it. She didn't want anyone to see her drawings or stories, and she would hate it even more if someone commented. Luckily it didn't seem as though anyone had noticed. They were all deep in worry.
Trees and shrubs pressed against an increasingly aubergine sky. Despite the beauty, fear reigned as the car pressed ever deeper into the undergrowth.
