It's a regular
It's a regular summer evening. You have your window open, and a faint but cool breeze blows in. Suddenly, the wind blows harder and colder, and a number of dried leaves and a white envelope blows in. You bend down to pick up the envelope and find, to your surprise, that it is closed with a medieval-looking wax seal. The seal bears an emblem of a dragon, curved around a tree. Inside is a letter.
Greetings, CBer:
If you are reading this letter, you have been invited to an exclusive trip. Our organization has found disturbances in an unknown mountain range. We mean to seek out this disturbance and study it; it appears to be a living species. Your assistance is crucial to this project. Though it is entirely at your discretion, we hope you choose to come. If you do so, please fill out the form attatched and leave it on your windowsill with this invitation. Regards,
Lady Saga Tremayne
As you open the envelope to look for the form, you find two pieces of paper. One is folded neatly and seems to be the same cream-colored paper that the invitation was written on. The other is slightlly crumpled and is made of a different paper. It's darker, and bears a water-stain in one corner. Of course, you open the crumpled one. It appears to be completely blank, but as you turn it this way and that, you notice faint and hastily scribbled lettering, reading: Help, CBer! You and the others must go to Lady Tremayne's "expedition," but you must only pretend to follow her orders. What she intends to trap and train is a wild beast, and one that must be protected. I am disguised, but I will give you a message when the time comes.
As soon as you finish reading the note, it crumbles away to dust in your hands. The other paper is a the form:

Okay that's it. Sorry it was long! I'll post my character a little later. The first, oh, 12 or 13 posts will get in (the number might change)
*Disclaimer: this is my first rp, so I'm probably going to make mistakes. I have literally no idea what I'm doing (I don't even know if this rp is going to succeed), so correct me if necessary.*

We think you should be the one to do the next post. Let us know if you can’t.

I'm really sorry about this. I had the story planned out, but now I'm looking at my plot and stuff and I realized it won't work. I'll try to keep the rp going, but it might be a little difficult...
if anyone has ideas, plot twists, etc., please tell me, I'd appreciate it.

Does it not work because of what I made happen? (I did most of the big plot things, like take us to the castle.) I can change it if necessary. What sort of direction did you intend? You don't have to give us all the details, just a bit of what you were trying for. I think I'd like to know about that before thinking of any ideas. If you don't want to tell us, I have a few semi-ideas I could give you, but they might not be what you're thinking of at all.

I am so sorry about your plot not fitting. Was it something I did? Maybe you could share some of the plots you made. Perhaps together we can figure out a way to fit the story in to the plots.

Evergreen, what if we had the charries explore the castle, and gradually discover clues that lead up to Lady Tremayne is trying to capture a kelpie, which was the initial plan, and maybe a history of mishaps or something? Or maybe they learn that Tremayne is trying to catch it for a request that will make her rich through means of a nefarious scheme? Then everyone has to save the kelpie and disable the scheme. Those are some thoughts, but you can think on how to make it work a bit more? That's probably my favorite idea. I really don't want to let this die because I have some plans. I think we can make there be a discussion about the kelpie - Lady Tremayne's trying to get more perspectives on the kelpie or something - and then we can focus on various subplots giving you time to think more on how to make something work? I think that we can make this work, but it would be easier if you could tell us a bit about what you were thinking so we can come up with something. We'll leave a lot up to you, so you can create it how you want it, but this will be a general idea. Everyone in the RP, Evergreen or not: Don't let this die! You can have small things happen, introduce new subplots, anything that will advance the RP a bit, but don't let it die.

Who is still here? I think we can figure something out. This is Blackfooted Bobcat, and I'm still here.

I'm still here. Sorry...I feel like I'm doing a bad job with this rp...
@Blackfooted Bobcat, I like all your ideas! And thanks for the support :) I was doing some research on kelpies, and I was thinking there should also be some connection to the Loch Ness monster, because there's many similarities there?
I like the idea about Lady Tremayne wanting the kelpie for money. Maybe we should actually twist it so that she can gain some kind of power from the kelpie? Through experimentation or something.
Also I feel like there should be a specific reason that she wanted children/young adults. Like maybe only children can tame the kelpie. idk.

I’m still here! Sirin, I think you are doing a great job running this RP. Sometimes things don’t go as planned. I think that’s one of the fun things about RPs, because you have to find creative ways to make the story work.
Maybe only children can find and capture the kelpie. For some reason, I’m not sure what reason. Any ideas? I have a couple other ideas to add on to your and Blackfooted Bobcat’s ideas, but I have to research kelpies a little more. I’ll be back to share my ideas.

Perhaps the kelpie is particularly good at luring children, so he/she is less afraid of them or something? Or perhaps there's some sort of magic spell that can subdue him/her, but only children can cast it? That's probably more fantasy than Sirin was thinking. As for malevolent plan, maybe she's figured out a way to harness the power of a kelpie and can use it to force everyone to obey her or something because it's strong and evil magic? I don't know if she's that evil. Or maybe she has one of the kelpie bridle things and can force the kelpie to obey her for some devious scheme and needs children to do it because she doesn't want to risk her life? Just some thoughts. Sirin just posted a comment but it hasn't shown up yet; I'll check in later to see if I missed something. (I used way too many question marks...)

That sounds good! In a lot of traditional fairytales I think there's a thing where children have the ability to *see* magical creatures, and the ability fades as they get older?
And according to traditional mythology a kelpie has to be tamed by having some kind of magical bridle put on it. Hm.
(June 21, 2020 - 1:29 pm)
Maybe the magic on the harness only allows children to touch it. I like the idea of only children being able to see the kelpie. Maybe they are the only ones who can understand the kelpie.
