Cambria is a flourishing port city, full of life, laughter, and magic. For a city built from the ashes of a war only months ago, it is remarkable how much it’s grown and developed. And it’s also remarkable how quickly it’s grown, though no one questions the magic.
Your characters were children when the city rose. And they are barely grown when the city falls.
An inescapable darkness has risen. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, an idea unheeded by the founders of Cambria. Too much magic calls forth too much darkness. But what’s done is done, and their only hope now is to journey beyond the land across the perilous sea, in an attempt to save the people they have doomed.
The journey is not for the faint of heart.
The Lottery is the last thing they give you, a system enchanted to find the bravest, the strongest, the smartest, only the best to sail across the Deep and find salvation.

Rules and Information that you will NEED to know (PLEASE READ THEM ALL):
- There are 14 spots. Reservations are accepted, but you MUST post your charrie within a week of you reserving that spot or I’ll give it to someone else
- This will start after I have at least 7 characters
- I’d love a cast of both males and females, which brings up an important point
- CHARACTERS!!!! I would love if we had a ton of diversity, so I’m accepting literally anything, especially POC (People of Color) and LGBTQ+ (@ADMINS, sorry, just wanted to make sure you saw this if you’re not allowing this, please delete the part where it says LGBTQ+, so no one gets confused, thanks!!) NOTE: I will be looking over your characters and okaying them.
- The time period is a fantasy-medival, think Throne of Glass, Six of Crows, A Darker Shade of Magic, or if you have no idea what I’m talking about, just think of Pirates of the Caribbean or something in terms of clothing and technology
- NO OP CHARACTERS PLEASE, THANK YOU!

- A note on magic: If you choose to give your characters magic, it does not mean that they can summon winds, control the ocean, or anything big like that. The magic in this world comes from a sort of stronghold thingy, so it can be mined, but not everyone is compatible with the magic, meaning that it is very picky and may possibly reject your character
- I might be a tad bit harsh on your character, but remember, it’ll help with your character building!

Most of y’all have already seen it, but just a friendly reminder :) ALSO, THIS IS IMPORTANT: No one knows each other’s charries. You will all be strangers on a boat, which is perfect for bonding *inner writer cackles*

On starting: As I said, I plan to start on Friday, but that might be postponed. For the first post, I plan on having everyone do a flashback to a better Cambria (Y’all can get started on that if you want, I know some of you are excited!!!) The Lottery festival takes place 3 days before the Autumnal Equinox, so remind me if we’ll be celebrating any character birthdays!! Also, feel free to write in any POV— I’ll be writing in third.
On the Lottery system: Every registered citizen is put into a Goblet of Fire type thing, and the magic chooses the most able-bodied citizens and the ones who have a skill set that the journey will require. Think of a cross between the Goblet of Fire and the Reaping from the Hunger Games. There will be a festival for the Lottery day . **Hint, hint**
Also, I'm doing some world-building, so anyone who has a Camp NaNo and wants to help, post your username and I'll send out a nanomail!

I like your character, but I just feel like he's a little too centered around anger. Would you mind adding some more strengths, weaknesses, and a little more to the personality? Also, no blue hair— we're in a high fantasy/medival world, and I'd like for you to fill in the preferred weapon. And last but not least, your character is pretty OP compared to everyone else. Could you tone down his powers (he won't be able to use up his life energy)? Thanks!!

His powers work once- he uses up all his life energy. I have more ideas for his character, but I would like to try RPing as him before trying those ideas out.

I'm sorry, and I get that you're really attached to the life energy idea, but that won't be possible with the way magic works in this world. I really need you to tone it down a bit, maybe to something that'll physically exhaust him whenever he does it? Also, I do need a preferered weapon and I'd really like you to add a bit more to the personality. Thanks!

He doesn't use weapons. He is a pacifiist. And how do I make his powers weaker? I thought a small force field that kills him was weak enough.

Okay, pacifsim sounds fine. The problem with him making a small forcefield that kills him is 1) there's no discipline for that, meaning that it's not taught, and people can't perform it, excluding the long gone mages. 2) Because of the way magic works in this world, it's not powerful enough to kill anyone, since poweful magic is no longer being taught after the war. I hope this makes sense, if it doesn't, let me know!

Owlgirl here. Thank you sosososo much! I saw your extra notes, and I'm totally with creating a charrie with those qualities. I actually am really glad for them...it's cool to have something...I don't know, to start off the character in a RP. Like a prompt kinda. Or a challenge.
I am at a restaurant right now, typing on a very small phone (I keep having to go back and fix typos or autocorrects. Autocorrect really wants charrie to be Charlie for some reason) so I won't submit my Sheet this second. But I will get it it soon. I'm very excited, and once again very grateful. :)

I'll definitely post my charrie sheet sometime this week, but I have a question: Are our characters going to be picked by the Lottery? Should we try to specifically design them to be smartest, fastest, etc.?
