Doves and Hawks
Chatterbox: Inkwell
Doves and Hawks
Doves and Hawks single write
So the plot of this is that there are two political parties. The Doves and the Hawks. There are other third parties, like the Owls and Ravens, but they have no importance to the story. The Doves and Hawks are the two magor third parties. And each has a represenitive to run the country of Hummbya. But recently the two have not been getting along, saying that their party would be better at running Hummbya.
"Tisk tisk. Hawks are more important and able to run the contry then Doves." The Hawk ruler said.
"Now now, Hawks are eragont and have no sympathy. If they were to rule then only the first class would survive." The Dove queen whispered.
"Yes but if the Doves were to rule then the goverment would be in dept more then we already are. The bussness would go without people to run them, and all togeather die off. The economy would die off. And without jobs, we would die off." The hawk ruler growled.
"You would end up dieing off too, if the contry was only ruled by hawks. Without sympathy or basic needs, the poor would all die, the middle class would be taxed so much they would be poor, and die off. And you need to tax someone, so, eventually your richest person would go into dept and die without basic needs." The Dove queen responded.
They stared at eachother for a long moment. "Without the Hawks you would die."
"Without the Doves you would die."
There was a long moment of silents. "I have an idea. What if we split the contry in half. Each of us gets a half. One part Doves and one part Hawks."
The hawk ruler smiled. "Well see which one gives in first. Make it a deal."
They shook on it.
~~~~~~
Now there is two parts of Hummbya. The Hawk side and the Dove side. All Doves are on one side, and all Hawks moved to the other. The theird parties made their own part on the top cornner of the contry, called the Otherpart.
Rules:
As you can tell this is a single write. I will take everyone in 48 hours that joined but once I start you cant make a charrie sheet.
The Hawks as told in the obove passage are hard hearted and strickt. Most Hawks are bussnes men or woman, they belive in millatary forces, and belive that the poor are poor because of their actions and should becom rich on their own terms with no help from the goveremnt.
The Doves are sweet and sympathetic to all. Most are teachers or doctors, they belive in neotagation over war and help the poor no madder how it effects the economy and how indept the goverment becoms.
There can be as many people as possible if you join in the next 48 hours. You can have two charries.
You can either be a Hawk or Dove. They are people and usually look no different from eachother. If there are too much of one type then I may change someone's charrie to a different party.
You must be between 10-16 unkess you want to be the rulers. There is a Dove ruler and a Hawk ruler. There are rulers of the other parties and you can make a charrie sheet of the other parties but they surve no importance to the single write and may not be used.
"WHAT?! Join the war?! Are you INSAIN!?" I couldn't beilve it. The war! Of all things!
She punched me in the arm, and I winced. "Yes, matter of fact I am. But just think about it, it makes sence. We get to know who's winning, we know what all the leaders are saying, first hand, we get the expericance and the credit on our resamay and for collage and stuff. We probably won't even be fighting, since we're so younge. They'll put us in the back, were we can watch and know what's happening. Plus, we'll be there first hand and feal the glory of winning against those pidgens."
I paused. She had a point. "But, do you really want to witness the deaths of so many? Simply for the reward of...of land? Don't get me wronge, we are better and stronger and deserve that land."
She laughed, and I tried to punch her in the sholder, missing. "It'll finally please your dad."
I froze. "Fine. You win. We'll join the war."
"Yes!" She jumped up, and ran out the room.
I heard her feet clanking down the stairs and rushing to tell my lazzy butt dad doing nothing but watching football on the couch. I slowly got up and followed her, my mind in a duel. Was this worth it? Were we worth it?
Are we going to regret this?
By the time I got down the stairs she had already told my dad EVERYTHING. He was smiling. My dad. SMILING?! WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO?
Then he got up, walked over to me and hugged me. HUGGED ME! "I knew you were the son I hoped you were, deep down behind that political noncence. Willing to give your life for your nation. I'll give you the family gun to bring with you."
So, apparently she hadn't told him everything.
I was about to tell him that I didn't need it, but he pulled away and carfully grabed it from its place on the fireplace. "Well son, start packing! Ashria, you should go home and tell your parents the wonderful news! Come back here as soon as your packed and I'll take you there!"
"Dad, its not untill noon tommarow."
He paused. "Then come back tommarow! You're welcom anytime!"
"Now she is." I mummbled under my breath.
Another pro for joining the war.
No more dad.
No more dad to ruin my friendships, to ruin my life, to ruin anything.
I was free.
~Raven
I paced anxiously in my room. We must join the war. There she could finally express herself, let out all that rage I knew was in there, and, well, we can function without my parents always being there and cooing over her.
After being sunned by my parents for a stupid, dimwitted owl girl who didn't even talk was really just, just heart-braking. I needed to get away. Once I did, and we joined the war, I can ditch owl girl and make other friends. Then maybe owl girl will get in an...aceident and when I finally went home, my parents will love me again.
"Have you decided yet?" I asked innocently.
"Don't rush me." I clenched my teeth. Why does she have to be SO DIFFICULT.
"Decide soon, it's almost dinner time." I paced faster. "Look at the pros, Prudence. No Hawks, alone, you can kill if you want. Invisible. You wouldn't half to take to anyone."
Prudence clicked her teeth. I remeber being freinds with her once, or atleast atempting to be. SHe was really depressed when she first came here, so I tried my best cheering her up. But she soon developed a hard shelll around her feallings, that she wouldn't even let me brake. "Fine. I'll join."
"Great." I smiled. "Now, you see that window? It's a short drop to the ground. We jump out and escape to the meeting place."
Prudence clicked her teeth. "You lied."
I turned to glare at her. "I didn't lie. I just changed my mind. You know all two well that my parents wouldn't allow us to join the war, especially you." Truth was, they didn't care what I did as long as Prudence was safe.
SHe clicked her teeth in anouyance again. Owl party. Always thinking their outthinking everyone else. It gets on my nerevs.
I opened the window. "Come on Prudence!"
Wow Claaws, this is really great!! You are a really great writer!
(November 30, 2016 - 10:09 pm)
This is really good Claaws!
Also, I was looking through my history textbook, and they were talking about the Vietnam War, and how the people who wanted to join the war were called Hawks, and the one who didn't were called Doves. Is that where you got it from?
(December 3, 2016 - 10:08 am)
Ah, you caught me. I was going to reveal it at the very end in a very deep last post when *********************** sorry, not revealed until the end.
But yes, the Democrats are called the peace doves, Republicans are called the war Hawks. I just wanted to include the other parties as other animals, Pidgions are the Green party, more peaceful than Democrats, Owls are the middle of the political spectrum, no real party there. The Gryphons are the Tea party. Ya, the gryphons aren't really mentioned in this at all.
~Prudence
I finally have a family that loves me, and she wants to take it away? I thought I outsmarted her, I thought she was going to go down and ask her parents. And I knew they wouldn't let me go.
I watched as she jumped out of the window and landed smoothly on the grass outside. "Come on Prudence!"
I looked down at her, not a trace of emotion showing. Then I spoke. "I have a family. A home. People that actually love me, and you want me to give it away?"
Her mom called "DINNER" from down stairs.
"You can go join the war, Raven. But I promiss you, you're never coming back." I shut the window with a bang, and locked it just incase she discided to clime back up.
I hurried down stairs and put on my happy face, greeting them with hugs. I saw Raven peeping through the glass door, her hand knocking pleadingly. The clanking of dinner plates were so loud that we couldn't herer her knocking.
I walked over to the door, and smiled warmly. I herd her mom yell, "WHO'S AT THE DOOR, HONEY?"
I walked up and paused, "No one. Absoluty no one."
I pulled the blindes and they went down, down, down, untill Raven was no more.
~Raven
I gasped. How could Prudence do this to me?! We were friends...
AND I was the one who was going to backstab her! I banged my head against the door, and felt the first drops of rain on my neck. "PRUDENCE, I WILL FIND A WAY. I WILL FIND A WAY TO KILLYOU! TO DESTROY YOU!"
"I will have revenge, whatever it takes."
I stepped back from the door, the rain coming down harder and harder. I pulled up my hood, and felt warmer water run down the sides of my cheeks. Then I turned and darted to the meeting place.
Where I would sleep untill I found a way to get rid of Prudence.
Permenatly.
~Prudence
I walked back to sit gratefully at the dinner table. "Mmmm. That chicken smells good, Mrs. Turner."
"Oh, sweaty. You can cally me mom."
"Alright, mom." I smiled. I was banned from calling my parents mom and dad.
"Hey, were's Raven?" It was far into dinner before mom realized she was gone, and her dinner plate hadn't been touched.
"Oh, she told me she was running away to join the war, because she hated me and wanted to get away from you. I told her I wouldn't go, this is the best family I've ever had."
"Oh, sweety." Mom got up and hugged me, ignoring what I had said about Raven.
It was all about me and allways will be.
But, was what I did wrong? Did Raven only want to go so she could earn her parents love again? Did I make a mistake?
Mom hugged me tighter, and I leanded into her arms. Whatever mistake I did, it was worth it.
Beep--Beep--Beep--Beep--
I yawn, streaching in my large, hot pink bed. Ever since my mom was elected to be queen, I've felt like a real princess.
And I never want it to end.
I lept from my bed, snatching my cat ears and placing them delicatly on my head. I silenced my alarm clock and jumped into my slippers. I then rushed down stairs for the nightly show.
What I found, to my astonishment, waiting for me, was my mom. The Queen of the Dove party. "Mom, why aren't you at you're daily political meeting?" I asked, dissapointed.
"I canceled it. I needed to talk to you about the war." She sighed, and guestered for me to come sit.
I reclulantly walked over. I wished she was out so I could watch my show and eat popcorn all night with my friends...that reminds me. Where was my phone? I needed to text them to tell them not to come.
My mom smiled. "I texted them for you." She responded to my thoughts. I stared shocked at her. "I've known about you're daily parties with you friends. If you were older I would've stopped it the first time." I sat down. Now I'm going to have a talk about my parties and 'over-using the supply of popcorn'. "But that's not what I'm going to talk to you about. Reeana, I want you to join the war."
"WHAT?!" Ya, this was way worse then the 'talk about not having partys'. "WHY? I'M THE PRINCESS! YOU"RE DAUGHTER!"
"Sweety, let me explain."
I ignored her and kept rainting. "ME? THE WAR! We're DOVES for crying out loud. DOVES!"
SHe clamped her hand across my mouth and shushed me. I reclulantly clamped my mouth shut and listened. "You won't have to fight, I've already worked that out with the general. Everyone under 18 will only be the backup of the backup."
"Why do I have to join the war then?" I argued. She tightened her grip and I sighed.
"I'm getting there. You will encorage Doves who belive more in fighting, and can fight, to join our army and make us more in numbers. You'll tell the protesters that we can be Doves of war and that we need to defend our borders and show the Hawk's who's boss. Please, dear. Your party needs you."
"Fine. I'll do it. For our nation."
"For our nation."
Sveta Burrham~~
I sit with my little sister, Daisy, watching the news. "I wish Columbidae was still here." Daisy mummbled, tapping Dove's cage. Dove was my falcon, I didn't really know what type it was. It loved Daisy, and she shure did love the bird. Almost as much as our big brother, Columbidae, who left us about a year ago to join an animal sancuary. That's where Dove came from. "I miss him. He would know exactlay what to say about the parties splitting up."
"Daisy..." I started, but trailed off. Then, more quietly, "I miss him two."
We were silent, untill the news flared up about the war and how to sign up. Then, to our astonishment, it blared-
COME MEET OUR NEW HORSE CARRER, COLMBIDAE! HE WILL BE HELPING CARE FOR THE HORSES USED IN THE WAR, SO NO CREATURE IS MISSARABLE. PLEASE JOIN NOW! AGES 11 AND UP!
It repeated the last part, as if we didn't know that part already. Or..maybe it was a sighn. "COLMBIDEA!" Daisy yelled as his image with a white soft-looking dove on his sholder appered on screen.
"Daisy..." I started. "You know what we need to do."
Her eyes went wide. "You-you mean?"
I nodded. "I-we miss him so much. We can join him, and maybe he'll teach us some things so we could help, and maybe follow him when we get old enough."
"Which is next year for you." Daisy whispered sadly.
Yes, I was 16. One more year and I would be free to go and buy a house of my own and get a job, leaving Daisy, the last of the siblings of three, alone. Maybe she could leave early, if she learned enough. "Hey, maybe you could leave early, if you train hard enough and learn enough of Columbidae's job."
"You mean...join the war?"
"Yes. We won't fight, we'll be with Columbidae the whole time, learing how to care for animals, like horses."
Dove cawed in his cage, and clawed at the door with his talons. Daisy opened it and he flew up onto her sholder, which had a pad on it to protect her from his talons. "Will Dove come too?" She whispered, stroking his feathers.
"Of course. Columbidae would love it."
Daisy looked hesitantly back at the screen, which was blabbing on about other less important stuff. "What will mom and dad say?"
I thought, hesitant. "I don't know. If worse comes to worse..."
"Daisy! Sveta!" Mom called from down stairs. "Dinner!"
"We wont tell them."
~Daisy
I bounded down the stairs.Don't tell them? Won't they be sad when we leave them early? I emerge into the kitchen, following Sveta. She acted fine, talkitive, telling them of how Columbidae showed up on TV.
I was worse at keep secrets, and was fidgeting as I sat down without meeting their eyes. Dove shuffled his feathers in my ear, and I laughed as it tickled the side of my face.
"Oh, girls, this came for you." Dad pulled out an emvolope, already ripped at the seems, with a crumpled letter in it.
Sveta ripped it open egerly, and as she read it, gasped in astonishment. "You don't have to go...just a sugestion for your future." Dad whispered. "If you want to go, you leave at noon tommarow."
I walked up and peeked over my older sister's sholder, reading the note. I gasped. It was from Columbidae, inviting Sveta to join the war as a horse care taker.
But not me. Nothing about me in the letter. I looked towards dad. "Can I come too? Please?"
"No, sweety, you're too younge."
"No I'm not! The war said 11 and up can join. I'm 15, dad. Please. It'll give me a good job for the future, and now."
He looked sadly at me. My sister stayed quiet. "If it's something you really want to do. I'll let you go early. I love you sweety, and never forget that."
~Catalina Seaburry
"Why would I want to join the war?" I challange my 16 year-old writing tutor, Quinton Edgewood.
It was late at night, and my father insisted in one last lesson with my tutor before he went off to the war for 'collage credits' apparently.
"You want to. Your parents want it. I can help you with poetry while you're gone...or atleast that's what's we can tell your parents. You can get away from english. Your parents. Their expectations."
"That sounds convincing. Why would I just run away instead of joining the war?" I challanged.
"Did I hear join the war?" My dad walked in the room just as I finished my argument.
"Yes, Mr.Seaburry. We were thinking, what if Catalina joined the war? I could tutor her englsih on our free time, and we'll have a lot because we're younge and they won't put younge kids in the heat of battle. She'll also get collage credits." Quinton sounded pretty convincing, and my dad was deffenatly convinced.
"Sounds good to me! So I'll just send her off tommarow at noon for like, a continusus touturing lesson she gets credits for? Mr. Edgewood, we should have you over more often!"
He smiled. "Thankyou, sir. But I think it's about time for me to go. See Catalina at noon tommarow?"
"Count on it." They chuckled, walking out of the room.
I clenched my fists. "Why does english hate me so much?" I felt like screaming. I hated that werido, Quinton, trying to make my life worse. He was a nurd, a weird strange nurd, and he's giving advice to my dad and sending me to war? We'll this is deffenatly going to end well for me.
That is REALLY GOOD!!!!!
SO SO sorry guys, I've been working on a good plot, but havent been able to post. Here, I think I have a good plot to work with until the other one comes in. ;)
~Catheryn
I walked into the courtyard, my breath ragged with stress..and my cough. My face was still wet with tears of dissbeilif, as I servayed the people around me.
I reconized Frank imidiatly. And he reconized me, from the exprestion I saw on his face.
I looked away, sighed, and wiped the tears off of my face. Finding a bench, I walked over and sat down with a huff, wraping my arms around my legs and barrying my face in my legs.
I felt a precence of someone by me almost emidiatly. Looking up, I saw the face of a girl about my age, and releaf flooded over me. "Hi." I whispered. "Have you come to join the army also?"
"Ya." She whispered, leaning back. "Theres only kids here, as it looks like, so far. Itsnt that strange?"
I nodded, leaning back into the bench. "So, why did you sighn up?" The girl was clearly trying to make converstation. "Collage credits? Friends that you want to see on the other side?"
My heart sunk in, and I barried my head back in my knees. Clearly seeing something was wronge, the girl took it back. "I mean, I have a friend, a little sister almost, who was forced on the other side. we decided to join so we could keep in touch, you know, sneek away in the midst of battle and catch up. Now that I think about it..its not the smartest answer...but its the only answer. Its worth the risk."
Then it hit me. What if Lee joined? Would I have to fight him, or would he avoid me?
Would he willingly kill me?
Sorry, short post I know, but I gotta go, sorry!
