I was thinking,
Chatterbox: Inkwell
I was thinking,
I was thinking, we could start a new story chain. You make up a new character, but they CAN'T be from the 21st century (they'll wind up there later). They have to be related to someone famous but NOT an actor, actress, singer, etc.
Mine is: Dehlia Ludington.
Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.
Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777
Suddenly transported to the 21st century.
Age: Unkown
Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.
Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.
Hope ya'll like my idea!

I just looked it up. It`s like a really high wrap around porch. You can search "top of the Eiffel Tower" on Google Images.
~Dora~
"Ready?" Deliha whispered to me.
I nodded, barely daring to make a sound since Errol`s repremind.
"I hope they come soon." she murmured.
We waited for what seemed forever, then finally, I was able to see somebody other than the marching guards.
"Hey there, girls!" Fliex said, cheerfully.
A biggish group of people. Errol`s words ran through my mind. We were sure to attract attention, especially with Felix with us. What does he think he`s doing? I tried to send him an inconspicious warning look, but either he didn`t recieve it, or was ignoring me.
"Fine night," Errol`s remark seemed almost forced.
Deliha and I looked at eah other in confusion. What were the boys up to? Deliha`s eyes seemed to say. I almost shrugged my shoulders when I realized it. They were acting out their parts to meet us! Why didn`t we think of that?
"It is," I agreed, walking to join the boys at the railing, close enough to the tears. Dleliha followed me.
"So," Feliex said, "What-"
"Excuse me." The four of us turned around.
A guard in a grey uniform and a very stern face stood with two others behind him. They could have passed as tripelets.
"Three people on the Tower at once." he said, crossing his shoulders. "One of you must leave."
The four of us looked at each other, and nodded. Drawing our guns we went to our usual groups, then Errol and I dashed towards the other nine guards.
(September 9, 2013 - 4:44 am)
Okay, then... *googles* Ah! There's a pic with a view from the top looking straight down! I nearly vomit just looking at it!!! That is ridiculously high. *shudders* Anyways. Hmm. Okay then.
Dehlia ~
Felix and I made quick work of the three guards in front of us. I moved quickly toward the center of the platform, while Felix scanned the edges. There I met Dora.
"Got them?" I asked. "Yes, all eight. Did you get the last?" Dora asked. I froze.
"What last? I didn't see any others."
Dora paled. "There were supposed to be twelve. The three you and Felix stunned, but then only eight that Errol and I stunned."
"Freeze!" A voice said behind us. We spun around. The final guard stood, gun in one hand, time tears in the other. Errol and Felix ran up at the sound of raised voices. Seeing himself outnumbered, he became desperate. I dangled the time tears over the side.
"Move, and I'll drop it!" he said.
(September 9, 2013 - 8:15 pm)
Should I go, or Errol?
(September 11, 2013 - 12:43 am)
I'm going.
Errol glances from the guard to the vial of tears dangling over the edge of the tower. He inhales slowly and evenly, judging his options.
The top of the tower and parts of the ground below are bathed in a warm glow from the streetlamps lining the roads. It could be enough. He raises his hands slowly in a sign of surrender. "Okay, then." He takes a small step backwards, into the middle of the strongest puddle of light.
The guard looks confused, but relieved. "Yeah, keep walking."
Dehlia and Dora shoot him looks that are poisonous mixtures of confusion and anger. He bobs his head to the left in a vague gesture that didn't accomplish anything more than making him look slightly ridiculous.
Dora is the first to say anything. "But- the tears-"
"Yeah," Errol replies, exaggerating each word. "We should get out of here. We wouldn't want him to drop those, would we?"
A light dawns on her face, and she nods. "You're right. We should probably leave pretty quickly." They make eye contact with Felix and Dehlia.
Their next words all get lost in a muddle of language as everyone states clearly their own take on the idea, "I wish to go to the bottom of the Eiffel Tower."
The guard is not prepared to see a whole bunch of people suddenly disappear in front of his eyes. Naturally, his heartbeat increases and the glands in his hands begin to produce a goodly amount of sweat and oil, causing the thin glass vial to slowly slip from his fingers and began to fall the 324 meters to the ground below.
--
Thinking since thay all said something different, they should be scattered around a bit. Make some tension, cause some running, etc. etc.

~Dora~
"I wish to go to the bottom of the Eiffel Tower," I said, then suddenly, the scene in front of me changed, and the guard faded away, though I could just see his look of terror before he was gone.
Then I was standing in the middle of a concrete slab, all alone. My heartbeat quickened. Where was I, and where were all the others?
I looked up and found myself staring at thick webs of iron bars. So I was under the Eiffel Tower. But where were Errol, Deliha, Dora, and Quintus?
Suddenly, I heard a scream, then a hoarse yell. I spun around and saw Errol running to Deliha, who was looking up at the top of the tower.
Someone ran by me, and I turned to see Felix racing as fast as he could to where Deliha was standing.
Then I remembered the guard with the time tears. Had he dropped them? Or had he run off with them? Or called reinforcements?
I took off at full speed, right on Quintus`s heels.
When we got to the place where Errol and Deliha were standing, we looked up, and saw the bottle heading for us, coming closer and closer.
"Catch it!" I shouted, panickly.
(September 11, 2013 - 7:51 pm)
Sorry, all. School is just keeping me insanely busy.
Dehlia ~
I shout, "I wish to go to the bottom of the Eiffel Tower," and suddenly I'm standing just below the place we'd been standing a few seconds before. I gaze up, then scream. The guard had released the bottle of time tears, and it was plummeting straight toward me. This gets Errol's attention. He gives a shout, and runs toward me, also seeing the time tears. Felix and Dora follow closely behind. None of us could tell exactly where it would land, so we spread out some, each of us braced to catch it. I took several steps back... I felt the smooth glass fall into my hands. The impact knocked me back a few steps. The impact smarted my hands, but other than that, the time tears were fine.
"You caught it," Errol said with relief. I nodded, and held it up for all to see. It's intricately designed bottle glinted in the light from the Tower.
"Ready to go back?" I asked. Everyone nodded.
"I wish to go back to Elexhiia," we said in unison. And suddenly she stood before us. I passed her the tears.
"Great," she said, accepting the tears.
"Your next destination is..."
*********************************************************************
@ L: I was wondering if you wanted to pick where we went next, since True and I both have picked the last places.
(September 12, 2013 - 10:27 am)
Errol leans heavily against a stretch of open wall in the abandoned factory, breathing heavily. He wants to take a break for once, but also knows they don't have much time before their ability to teleport vanishes. He consoles himself with the solidity of the wall in the meantime.
"Your next destination is going to be a tricky one," Elexhiia says. "Y'all ready to see what's going down in the Library of Alexandria?"
Errol's emerald eyes grow to the size of saucers. "I've heard about that museum. My history professor went there few years ago. Said it was great."
Felix gave him the stinkeye. "There's a reason it's called the Lost Library of Alexandria, future boy," he says flatly.
"...Right. Where?" He directs this question at Elexhiia. "The library's enormous. And underground. It could take ages to find the time tears."
She shrugs. "All's I know is it's somewhere in the middle. The instructions are kind of vague to say the least. You're lucky it's been so specific past few times."
Errol makes a frog face. "Okay then. We'd better pack. And quick."
(September 12, 2013 - 4:35 pm)
I'm going to let True write the next piece. Also, keep this thread going, cause my internet is going down starting tomorrow evening for a week, so don't let this die!
(September 13, 2013 - 6:23 pm)
Sorry, guys! These last few days have been pretty full, but I'm back in America now! It's HOT here.
*cough* and what is the Library? I searched it, but it was burned, I thought. I'll try.
~Dora~
"I think that we have everything that we need," I said. "We shouldn't be there long."
Errol looked at me. "That library is underground. Do you know how hard that place is to find?"
I shook my head no.
"What is that place?" asked Deliha, a confused look on her face.
"It's.." Errol started, unsure of how to explain.
Elexhiia interrupted us with a loud cough. "You'd better hurry, the effects will wear off soon."
Together, the three of us chanted
"I wish to go to the Library of Alexandra."
_________
Tovah, if you're here, we"ll be finished with this fetching part soon, so don't feel left out.
(September 18, 2013 - 6:59 pm)
Sorry, True! I've been busy. Plus my internet went down, and I fractured my nose! So those are my whiny excuses. Anyway (my history nerdiness can come in handy), though everything I say may not be right, this is what I've heard. The Library of Alexandria was a grand library in Alexandria, Egypt. Its exact layout is unknown, but there are theories on how it looked, including a reading room, gardens, and of course, scrolls to fill the library aspect. It was thought that it was burned, though this method of destruction is debated. Try looking on Wikipedia, though don't necessarily trust Wikipedia since anyone can write on it, so all its facts may not necessarily be true. But anyway, there's a start, and we'll just imagine the rest! But you're right. If it was burned, it doesn't exist. We need this to be as historically acurate as possible, though if this is all in the future, we can imagine that the library was discovered to be buried or something, not burned. I dunno. I'll wait to hear from you or L for your thoughts.
But anyways, how rude of me. WELCOME BACK!!!!!! How was Japan? Did you enjoy yourself? What did you see? (ah! too many questions with too many answers! Sorry, I just like to learn and hear about places I haven't been!)
Cappie says emai. No Cappie, I don't email.
(September 19, 2013 - 7:42 pm)
You fractured your nose? Are you all right?
Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to be back, though I still have jet lag. I woke up at 5 o'clock, this morning!
Japan was great! My family went to Peace Park, and I left some origami cranes that I had folded and strung during my visit. There were 108 of them. My sisters, cousins and I all rang the big bell, shaped as a golden crane. Peace Park was fun. (It's in the Hiroshima area, by the way. Around where the big atomic bomb was set off. My family didn't go to the bomb museum, beacause we didn't have much time, but my cousin said it was because it was the Americans who set off the bomb.
Miyajima Island was also a lot of fun. There are deer roaming all over the island, and even though signs warn you not to touch the deer, lots of people pet them. You have to be careful around them. One ate a map, and another tried to eat my shirt!
Those two places we went on our next to last day in Japan. They were especially fun.
I would write, but I'm waiting for Errol to help, and I just wrote. And, we don't need things to be exactly accurate. We have lots of time to work with between 2012/2013, and where Elexhiia is for things to happen. Time travel could never happen, either.
Oh! And did anyone see the last piece in "Chirps from Chatterbox" in this month's magazine?
(September 20, 2013 - 5:48 pm)
Yes, I'm fine! Thanks! I smashed face first into my boogieboard while on vacation. But it didn't hurt too bad. Plus I was surrounded by a bunch of good-looking lifeguards, so it wasn't too bad! ;) Just kidding, but it really didn't hurt too bad, and it doesn't now. I just have to be careful not to touch my face.
Ugh, I've never had jetlag, but it sounds awful! Hopefully your body will adjust to the time change. Coffee. Coffee's always the answer. Drink a cup of caffeine, like coffee, at night, so you don't go to bed quite as early. Hopefully that'll help you get a little better on track!
That sounds so cool! Japan sounds like an interesting place to visit. I've never been close enough to a deer that it could eat your shirt! Talk about an up close encounter! Maybe they'll be some of the places I visit when I win the lottery! (Note I don't say if, I'm convinced I will some day!)
Yeah, I'm waiting for L too. And thankfully it doesn't have to be! And yes, I did see that part in the "Chirps from the Chatterbox" too! That was so cool to read it in the magazine! Thanks again, Admins!
You're welcome. We're sharing the fun of Chatterbox with more Cricket readers. Thank you for your contributions.

L, we need you!!
If she doesn't show up, whta should we do? I can't write, as I just went, so it's either BHR or Tovah...
(September 23, 2013 - 6:12 pm)
I'll go ahead and write, since it sounds like Tovah isn't coming back for awhile, and I'm not sure where L is. Also, it just hit me that one of Tovah's posts had Elexhiia teleport somewhere else. But you can't do that unless you recently drank time tears. I guess we'll just work around that. (I am soley imagining the following descriptions, etc.)
Dehlia ~
I blinked my eyes open, and coughed slightly. We stood in a massive chamber, on a connecting bridge, lined with tile and marble. Railing of gold and pearl lined either side. Other bridges linked the two sides of the room, evenly spaced apart. The continued on different levels, down five or six floors. The whole chamber was built openly, but was divided by Greek pillars and bookcases filled with leather-bound books and scrolls. Hazy sunlight filtered in. I squinted harder at the window, and realized it was blocked by sand. Dust floated lazily in the air, causing my eyes to water. Everything was silent, dust, and dirt covered. Yet it was still amazing. Absolutely beautiful. The architecture was amazing. Fountains were positioned everywhere, and mosaics decorated the walls. The ceiling, evidenlty once a pristine white, was large and domed, with a chandelier with enough candle holders to illuminate the entire room.
"So, let's start looking," said Felix. "Fountains, bookshelves, secret nooks, anywhere that could hide a small, glass bottle."
We split up, and started looking. I was often set into sneezing fits, and felt completely overwhelmed. Buckingham Palace, the Russian Capitol Building, the Eiffel Tower, we had an idea where the tears would be kept, the most secure, logical place. But here? It seemed as if no one had been here for years. It was a library, how were we supposed to find a small glass bottle?
(September 23, 2013 - 9:05 pm)
Maybe Elexhiia doesn't really have a real time, but has limited lives or something?
~Dora~
I stared around me in amazement, though I was supposed to be looking around. This was an amazing place. If only Aunt Clara could see it...
I wandered from the room that I was in to another, then turned to see another room, that looked much the same. There were bookshelves edged with copper, and - was that gold? There was a large fountain made with marble, and sparkling water still pouring out of it. Large marble statues stood on pedestals, snakes and lions and fearsome birds, all glared down on me, maliciously.
I fingered the book's leather binding gingerly, then snatched my hand away. This book was made hundreds of years ago. Hundreds of years before I was born, even. Yet it looked so new, except for the layer of dust on it.
As I wiped the dust away, I heard a rustling sound behind me. I paused in mid-wipe, and turned cautiously around.
What I saw made my heart nearly stop with fear. In between me and the door to escape, was a tall, ferocious guard, gun pointed right to me.
He grinned cruely. "I've got you now." he said, in an sharp, evil sounding whisper.
I dropped my gun, and stared, horror stricken, at the man.
"There's no escape now!" he whispered.
I shrieked, still rooted to the spot. Was this how I was to die?

Thought I'd pep things up some! ;)
