There's a thread about vegetarianism, but no one ever talks about the meat industry. Isn't it the most revolting thing you've ever heard of??? All vegetarians: Do you eat eggs, milk, fish, or seafood? Sea animals, actually.
Anyone...?

I know what you mean. Sometimes I try telling someone about, say, veal, and they just tune me out and say "Whaaaatever."

I'm not sure if this will get it back up to the front but if it doesn't then I'll just make another thread...
I have a confession to make: After Lent is over, I'm not going to stay vegetarian. Now, before you start to scold and gasp and cry and be offended with me, hear me out. I myself want very badly to stay vegetarian and have been doing everything in my power to. My parents are the problem, see, because they think that I'm not getting all the stuff that I need being a vegetarian. I've tried everything!!!! I've pointed out facts about the meat industry, the fact that I feel healthier and better like this, the fact that I'm not passing out after track, the fact that I should be able to make my own choices, I've offered to cook all of my own meals, but nothing works. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please? I'm hoping that if I can make them see it from my perspective then they'll understand!!!

This is a bit late... Way after Lent, I know, but Koffee, if you still want to be a vegetarian, tell your parents that the only real health benefit meat gives you is protein, and you can always get protein from the following other foods: beans, mushrooms, nuts, peanut butter, almond butter, and just about anything containing those foods. You might end up having a peanut butter sandwhich every day, which gets annoying, but it's worth it! Try again! I am a vegan (although that isn't really saying much since I'm allergic to dairy and eggs - I do greatly support veganism, though, and would still probably be vegan without my allergies)!
Mary Jo, are saying that animals don't even have SOULS? Sorry, but that's just ridiculous. Keep a pet dog for a year and say that again. And I know, Wendy, that chickens can lay eggs without roosters, so I don't see anything wrong with eating those eggs if you live on a farm, but if you DON'T live on a farm, and the only eggs available are store-bought ones, then chances are that the chickens that laid the eggs are raised in these horrible, gruesome places called 'factory farms'. Please don't ask me to elaborate - I can hardly bear THINKING about it. All I'm saying is that most of the chickens that lay store-bought eggs are treated horribly. Same thing with milk cows.

I'm a vegetarian. A TRUE one. I don't eat meat, fish, or geletin. If you eat any of those things for purpose, you are not truly a vegetarian. That is my opinion. it is true, when I was two, i ate tuna that was meant for the cat that wouldn't come out from behind the couch. But I was two and i didn't know. And that poor cow I ate when I didn't even know it was meat. I've been vegetarian all my life. I've never eaten meat for pupose. EVER. I want to be vegan, I'll try to be vegan for as long as i can. starting right now because i ate pancakes for breakfast today and i think they have eggs in them.
