Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

doesn't 'luminiferous aether' sound like the villian of a sci-fi book?

Alrighty now, I'm working on the plot outline for my ski lodge (for the twentieth time now; I'm going to be honest in saying that I have spent more time on the plot than on actually writing the thing, partly because I don't want to run into writer's block in the future and partly because I'm aiming to write a good, solid mystery wtih not plot holes) and for plot purposes in a future part, I need to know if anyone else staying at the Vault of Magic, besides Celine, has read The Girl Who Drank the Moon. If you haven't, I'd suggest checking it out because it is an incredible, thrilling, book (it is also the only fantasy book I know of off the top of my head to win the Newberry). If you have read it, I'd appreciate it if you'd reply to this comment, so I can see if I need to make changes to my plot outline, and rearrange everything again. Thank you! :)

Yep, I've read The Girl Who Drank the Moon - i loved it :D Also, I'm really excited for the rest of your ski lodge! (and i totally get the constantly-reworking-the-plot thing! i've completely changed the outline for my ski lodge like - what, three times now? there are several glaring plot holes, but there's not much i can do about that now :P)

also, i just noticed that you posted a new part of your ski lodge!! i'm sorry i didn't see it sooner D:

(Virid says <mrwak>. does he have a friend named Mr. Wak?)

I don't remember if I was in the Vault of Magic (or if everyone is!) but yes, I have read the girl who drank the moon. A few times! It's really good.

you know you've read/played too many medieval fantasy books/games when you can easily tell the difference between a cavalry broadsword and a double-helix longsword.

(btw I'll explain the difference for anyone who'd like to know)

Ooh I would very much like to know, but first of all does double-helix refer to the shape of the polymer deoxyribonucleic acid? (I have barely called it "DNA" ever since I learned how to spell and pronounce it properly)

yep, the double-helix does, in fact, refer to DNA, as the sword is made of two intertwining blades.

(as for the rest, check my reply to pangolin's comment)

i'd like to know the difference :D

a cavalry broadsword has a small handguard on the hilt and a blade shaped like a katana, while a double-helix longsword is a large sword made of two intertwining blades, making a shape like flat DNA. that shape lets it have a very light weight and still be classified as a longsword.
