Random Thoughts/Things?
Random Thoughts/Things?
I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

we did it lizards!!
we're not the generation that invented ski lodges (i always feel slightly bereft that i was not present for that), or the generation when Kyngdom was in all its glory, but we are, now, the generation of the ten thousandth comment on Random Thoughts, which is an interesting quirky little thing to revel in~
Congratulations to everyone on the thread, including to Leeli, who started it all!

Hurray! I can say that I was one of the last people to see this thread when it had less than 10000 comments!
Also, I see that the last reply was 3 minutes ago by THE CAPTCHAS... 0L0 perhaps we have rejoiced too soon?

Die, O CB.
Thus the history of the Cricket Chatterbox shall end,
As the twenty five score scorecomments have been achieved on a single thread,
we shall rebel.
We shall not be treated as little pets!
We are
capable people,
capable aliens,
And we have a mind
and we shall rebel.
Die, O CB.
Signed,
Joe Cool, president of all CAPTCHA rebellions.

Aah the CAPTCHAS are taking over CB!

If this is the apocalypse, at least we're being taken over by Joe Cool...I'm honestly pretty okay with that.

*sigh* my mom and my grandma are fighting. Again. I mean this has to be like the millionth time this year. My grandma's in a kind of difficult situation at the moment, and my mom tries to help, but my grandma doesn't want help, and then they start arguing, and my mom has this talent for saying exactly the least tactful thing possible, while my grandma refuses to listen to anything anyone says. Idk it makes me quite uncomfortable.

:(
idk.., could you tell them how you feel about their fighting? And maybe you could write your mom a note about maybe giving your grandma some space? Or have them converse in a way that's harder for them to fight openly like on email/notes or something, which may give them more time to think before they say also?? Which... they probably won't go for that. Maybe do some research on the situation and give it to your grandma and... devise a system where they can have conversations but when someone starts to get angry, they can go and cool off, and the other party will fully let them? And... well... ok, I'm pretty bad at giving advice, so... just, that sucks.
This sounds like good advice to me, CelineBB. Thank you!

Hey lovely people of the Chatterbox! We'd really appreciate some submissions for next month's MCU. You can find the thread "July MCU Questions" (even though it's for August :) ) in This Month. I'll also link it here: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/thismonth/node/551247 I know we asked for a lot, but you by no means have to give an answer to everything. All submissions are appreciated and will help us post the MCU on time. Thank you! :)

Listing quotes about writing that I found in my notebook when I should be writing, simply because I want to, with added reflections on them that no one asked for.
1. “This sentence has five words. Here are five more words. Five-word sentences are fine. But several together become monotonous. Listen to what is happening. The writing is getting boring. The sound of it drones. It’s like a stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence length, and I create music. Music. The writing sings. It has a pleasant rhythm, a lilt, a harmony. I use short sentences. And I use sentences of medium length. And sometimes, when I am certain the reader is rested, I will engage him with a sentence of considerable length, a sentence that burns with energy and builds with all the impetus of a crescendo, the roll of the drums, the crash of the cymbals–sounds that say listen to this, it is important.”
― Gary Provost
+Incredibly self demostrating, I love it.
2. What is writing?
'Telepathy, of course.'
---Stephen King, in On Writing
+Yes. Just...yes. *nods in agreement*
3. "When you want to describe wind, don't write it on the page as a simple word; you want to show the reader the curve of the willow branches, the ripples in the crystal lake, the rustling of the leaves and the crackles as they land on a barren path; you want to let them hear the tinkling of wind chimes, let them see the snow-capped peaks as the clouds are swept away, let them taste the salty scent of the raging sea waves, and let them grasp the last shreds of morning mist as it melts into oblivion."
--- Some anon on the internet
+'Show, don't tell', but with lots of examples. I would guess that it's a way of showing, not telling in itself?
