Random Thoughts/Things?

Random Thoughts/Things?

I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

I just saw a very resilient post-it note stuck to the back of a car going around 75 mph. just a post-it note, no tape or glue as far as I could tell. it was flapping around like it was going to fall off, but it just kept sticking there.

I don't quite know where to go for this type of advice so I'll post this comment and hope somebody sees it-

I'm writing a sci-fi story that I'm planning to elect as one of my major writing projects, but the characters aren't human in form. They're a race I created during worldbuilding. The people I've seen all think the story is good enough for further development but that I should modify the characters so that it's easier for people to comprehend or just convert them into humans, because the story won't be talking about earth so it would be perfectly fine if they were all humans. I kind of agree because it's still rather tiring to describe their appearences, but at the same time I'm confident that I'll work things out in the end and plus I really prefer their original designs. I simply can't see them as human in my mind's eye despite being able to easily covert the entire setting into earth. So what should I do? The reader's comprehension of the story is crucially important, but I feel that if I edited the entire world I might end up losing intrest in writing the story because it isn't living up to my envisoning. Can someone help?

what do your characters look like?

if you're completely certain you want to change the characters, maybe you could make them more humanoid instead of just humans or just what they were before. (a good example of this is the earlier designs of Rito and Zoras in the Legend of Zelda. the Rito were originally mostly human, but with a beak in place of a nose, wings, red eyes, and clawed feet. the Zoras are more fishlike with fins, gills, and a dolphin tail thingie on their heads, but act like humans for the most part.)

They are humanoid already... Just with three tails, large ears and a diffrent skin tone. The most part of the frustration is coming from actions. (Should I say 'held out a claw' or 'held out a hand'?)

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can improve the setting in a simpler manner to make the story clearer and the characters more understandable.

I'd advise keeping the characters the way they were when you originally created them! Increasing the readers' appreciation doesn't make up for losing out on the fun of worldbuilding and character creation :) You might just want to make your explanations of the characters' appearances super, super clear and simple, so that it's still understandable. Or you could compromise - they could be humans who shapeshift into your original idea, or something like that. I hope this helps!

would anyone be interested in reviving the SOCS boarding school RP on Kyngdom? it seems pretty cool?

Yes but the only problem is after I started it, I realized it conflicts a bit with the original Kyngdom RP after reading the ultimate guide, in which SOCS, as well as its school, was destroyed. We'd probably have to at least write it so that SOCS rebuilt itself, but I'm still not sure how old Kyngdomers would feel about it

Yep, I'm interested! @Peri, we can fix the problem pretty easily, I think; we could change it to a boarding school that BIG has set up; maybe the BIG people were inspired by the SOCS school. Of course, this would only work if you're okay with it, it's your RP and I don't want to be changing anything you disagree with :) But if we did change it to a BIG school, it would be fundamentally the same thing but it would still fit in with Kyngdom's history. Anyway, it was such a good RP idea; I'd love to see it revived :)

I've been thinking about joining Kyngdom. I'd probably join that RP if it were revived! :D
