So... Hot! It

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

So... Hot! It

So... Hot! It broke a hundred today, and our house has no a/c. It's like a sauna outside, and I bet you could fry eggs on the sidewalk. Which is crazy, because we live in Washington. The lowest it's getting tonight is 70! Can you believe it? So... Does anyone have any suggestions on how to "beat the heat"? Besides swimming in the pool?

Fans. Shade. Cool showers. Drink lots of water. Sit still and read a good book. Wear a wet bathing suit all day. Eat a popsicle. Pray for clouds and rain. Watch a wintry movie with lots of snow and ice. . . .

 Good luck,

Old Cricket

Oh! Emily H., you live in Sparks Nevada, so do you by any chance remember a certain TV show being filmed there? I saw an episode of a certain detective show and part of it was at a car wash in Sparks, Nevada. I thought that was interesting. I wish something would be filmed in my town...

Come to California!!  This week has been unusually cool... It's NICE!!!!  I do hope it warms up a bit for next week, though.  (I'm going camping on the river)

Poor you.  I hate heat.  :|

If I think of anything (besides having you come camping with me) I'll tell you.  :)

Oh yah, keep the house closed during the day, and open it at night.  Try to keep the windows covered too, preferably from the outside, that will cut down the heat a LOT.  :)

@ Meadow: I wish it would ever snow where I live. We live near Houston, and I've never seen snow. Everyone else says it snowed here about 4 years ago, but I lived in a different city then, so I didn't get it.

@ Paige: Sorry, but it's just really hard to sympathize with you right now. It's about 103 degrees nearly every day in Texas, and we'd welcome some 82 degree weather. That's the kind of temperature we might get in late spring/early fall here... *starts to dream about fall, when the weather's not near boiling* *wakes up* When I grow up, I think I'll move to Maine... Or Canada... Or maybe Antarctica...

Ugh... It looks like it's gonna rain today. :\

We've had a pretty wet summer this year, with the

exceptions of a few super hot days. And despite

that, my brother and his friend are swimming

(and playing a very painful game of dodgeball,

by the sounds of it...o.O ). I'm gonna laugh when

a thunder storm pops up on them *does evil laugh*.

It's been amazingly cool where I live, too, this year. The hottest we've had all summer was maybe 90 degrees. It's currently 75 or so. I wish it would warm up so I could go swimming!

Haha, well, we've had alot of rain this summer. :\

About, what, two or three weeks ago it rained so

much that the little creek that runs through our

yard looked more like a river. Okay, that's a bit of

an exaggeration. ;D But we're all kind of sick of

rain around here *sigh*.

I've seen snow, but only less than half a foot at the most.  And I've never seen it falling... well, my parents say I did when I was little and we were visiting my uncle in Ashland (OR), but I only remember it on the ground, not falling...
