Chatterbox: Down to Earth

This thread is

This thread is to commemerate all the people on the Chatterbox who have DISAPPEARED into thin air. Well, maybe not disappear, but just haven't posted in ages. And for those who have actually left, does anyone else have any means to still connect with them, like with Nano and stuff?

Here is a very rough list of the people who I've been missing lately:

Maggie

Blackberry E.

Nightingale

the doctor/Sir Doctor of Tardis

Joe the Stickfiddler and Daffodil

Red/Ruby

Fire Eyes Phoenix (where did she go; she was here for like a month and then went poof)

Nina

Ellie

TNO (always shimmers in and out of the CB like a wraith)

CaptainRead

And of course Lottie and Mag Fan threw in the towel for good. :(

I know with the start of school there isn't much time for the CB, but why did everyone seem to go at once? Lonely Everinne here; I miss the old gang. Not that the new gang isn't awesome, but I have a grown-up feeling of nostalgia right now.

No offense meant, I am just stating my opinion--I am younger than Everinne but mature, and because of some of the newbies I kind of feel like I am getting too old for this...

So...leave...?

I find this a bit rude, but I think that we interpreted the post differently. I think that the poster ment that he or she wants to remain on CB, but because of the new people and atmosphere, she wants to leave, but is reluctant to.

Think of TNO. Whoever you are you are probaly young compared to her. I get what you're saying, though. You should do what you're most comftorable doing. I do reccomend saying, of course.

Just wondering, when did BHR join? Can I see her first post?

I see that "no offense" is used often. just to tell you guys, those two words don't ever work with people.

Also, I have to agree with my sister. Remember the rp that Melody made? For some reason, tons of the oldies joined. Yes yes, also the newies joined too, but that's besides the point. the thing is, I'm starting to think that if a newie made a rp like that and the melody rp didn't exist, the oldies wouldn't join. So my sister's right. And we are not going to treat each other like equals anytime soon.

Go ahead, argue oldies. Go aganist me. I know you are going to. I just want to let you guys know that this is the truth, and saying no to yourself is not gonna change it. I wish that we would treat each other as equals. But dreams like that won't come true.

(Can't believe how this thread got from a good hearty list of long lost oldies to a debate aganist newies and the mentors.)

Gently, now, my tone is gentle through teh whole post.No offence is made by any of them.

The words may not stop people from getting offended, but it shows them that this person doesn't mean to offend, which is something.

Yea, but if you read the oldie's RP, and read the newer RPs, we have a certain style. Many of the newer RPs have an unfamiliar style that some people find difficult to work with. Also, I don't know about a lot of you other older guys, I'm in eigth grade. And I'm planning a novel to write. I'm busy. I don't have a lot of time every day to write on a lot of different RPs. So I pick them carefully. Melody's RP just happened to be one that looked interesting, seemed to be one that could keep on and live, and where I got a character that I like writing.

We can. I swear, I try. But it's hard. People have memories. And they remember what it used to be, not what it can be.

This is a really tough situation. I'm not sure about the RP thing, because in the year I've been here I've only done like 5 RPs and they all died. But I get what True said. The people who came here earlier have a different style of writing RPs.  read them, not write them. And they are definatly different.

And Squeak and True are both right when they say that the words no offense mean nothing. Everyone is still getting offending. Me included. This is becoming a fight. Do we really want the wonderful CB to become a place whre nobody wil speak to each other? I can't let that hppen.

So, from now on, no matter what anyone says, the oldies just joined sooner and the newbies just joined later. And if you are geting upset because oldie aren't doing your RPS, you cn't asume that it's because you are newer. They might just be busy or not interested.

The CB is supposd to be  fun, creative community. Are we al going to let that go because we are upset about when people joined?

I, for one, hope not.

(note: the Melody rp didn't live. There were like a few posts and then it died. Most of the newbies rps live, and are quite interesting.)

Yes, a lot of people say "no offence" to get away with saying something mean, but the people on here truly mean it and say it as a sign of peace to show they're just saying their thoughts, not to truly get away offending or hurting someone.

Like True said, a lot of us older ones I think are busier than the younger ones, just do to what comes in life when you get older. School for me keeps me incredibly busy, so I really don't get a lot of time online period. RPs can be time consuming, especially when people move so fast paced. By the time I'd get a chance to get on to reply, they've already shot far ahead, and I'm totally lost, so it wouldn't really be worth joining in the first place. It has nothing to do with who started it. There have been RPs from "oldies" that I didn't really take an interest in, or didn't have time for, so I didn't join. Newbies just have more time to be on here, and move faster in the RPs than I can keep up. I'm afraid y'all simply joined at a time where a lot of us had to reduce our internet time due to outside activities. Plus, as True said, a lot of us are planning to write novels for NaNoWriMo, so that's something else that is taking our time.

I'm not really sure how this turned into a debate. I mean, it started as a simple thread to reflect on people gone by, and I think the CB changed a lot faster than it has before, so it was just a surprise to us "oldies" how quickly old ones left, and new ones came on. I guess something someone said was taken the wrong way, someone retorted, and thus began the debate. I dunno.

I'm just putting this out here plain and simple. Us "oldies" have nothing against you newbies. Nothing. Y'all are bright and energetic. We were simply reminiscing over people who have left seemingly so suddenly. (Btw, we would talk about and remember people who have left even before y'all came on.) Crowd Sorcery simply triggered a major income of new people all at onece, more than we've had before. For a place that was fairly quiet with the occasional newcomer, it was just a bit of a surprise and an adjust. Don't think we're against you.

@Wonderer: I actually don't have an exact time I started. I never made a introductory thread, I just slipped in. I think it was on some SI or something, though it was a good three or four years ago, so I don't know.

Question: Who was one of the first newbies to join because of CS? Danie maybe? Did brooke joined a little while ago before CS? What about Noelle and Indigo?
