Hello there.........

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Hello there.........

Hello there.........

Does anyone from the old days still remember me? I used to be on a lot, but then I got distracted... by a couple games that were hardly worthy of distraction from this. Now that the new school year has started, I'll be around much more.

I see that CB is still mostly girls, haha. I wonder why boys don't come on here a lot? *evil grin* it was probably my fault, XD, they all came on and saw how much of an idiot I was. :D

For the people here who are new, as in, new since last December haha, a bit about myself. I'm thirteen, eighth grade, Christian, advanced courses in pretty much everything there is to be advanced in (not much yet, unfortunately), violist (WOOT!), Coldplay fan, and pyrotechnic engineer extraordinaire (just kidding). I've been reading Cricket for seven-odd years, since I was six or seven. I made what was pretty much the first post in CaC, two and a half years ago or something like that.

My return will be limited, as the advanced eighth grade classes that I take give me lots of work *sigh*. I'll probably confine myself to CaC and DtE -- but please, no more quizzes! I quit because of the quizzes! LOL -- although if something pops up in the other departments that looks interesting, I may reply.

I remember  you,  Tim. Glad to have you back with us again. Welcome.

Doom begins in one month... I start orthodontic work on November 1st. And once I start, I will be wishing that I had gone through two future years at high speed and have all the work done and have my braces GONE. Except I won't.

Tim, I'm sure there's an old braces thread somewhere on Chatterbox. So many people wear braces. They offer lots of good advice. Other people get used to them, and you will, too!

Tim, my sister had braces for 2 years--she was happy to get them off last Christmas, but she says it wasn't too bad. Her teeth ached sometimes, and she missed being able to eat corn on the cob, caramel, etc. but she got used to them after a little while. She also liked changing the colors of her bands when she went to the ortho., but girls probably care more about that than boys. ;) I bet it won't be quite as awful as you think, and as the Admin says, you will get used to them! :)

Everyone always says how absolutely dreadful braces are, but really, they're not that bad.  I got mine in like May, I believe.  They really only hurt for two or three days, but they were fine after that.  I never lost my upper canines, though, because they were apparently coming in at a diagonal angle and pretty much going in the completely wrong way.  So I had to have the baby teeth pulled, and then a surgeon dug through my gums and attached a chain to the tip of the adult teeth (then they attached the chain to my braces, and they pull the chains every once in a while, pulling the teeth in the right way).  That was really the worst part of braces, and you probably won't have to have that done, so yeah, no need to worry.  Stick-free gum makes everything better.

I'm so glad that I won't have to have any teeth pulled... what's stick-free gum? Never heard of it.

It's gum that doesn't stick to things like braces. :P If you really wanted to, you could chew normal gum, but stick-free is just better for braces.  I usually buy Freedent brand.

Braces are very annoying, and they hurt for the first few days, but they aren't too bad. You get used to them after a while... I just wish there was an advantage to them, besides the fact that, without them,  I'd have such a badly wrong bite (I don't remember whether it was an over-, under-, or crossbite that I had, so I'll just call it 'badly wrong') that I'd probably be unable to eat properly by now... But that's not an advantage, just a lack of a certain disadvantage, so it doesn't feel the same. And I've never been the sort to care much about the color changes; actually, it doesn't make the slightest difference to me at all, other than being a little bit boring... Still, it really isn't too bad.

Ahh, a violinist? I'm a bassist. Luckily you are not a cellist, or you would be caught up in the middle school Cello vs. Bass "rivalry".

My best friend is a bass player. So I'm firmly on the bass side of things (despite having more in common with cellos).

Yes I know, color changes r kinda pointless... I mean unless u look in a mirror, u can't see them! I was just trying 2 make Tim feel better about getting them.

so toodles, Elizabeth

*Note* I actually have never had braces. I had a retainer type thingy to try to prevent the incident of needing braces, so please don't take me seriously.

I think this is probably the most comments we've ever had on a 'I'm new' or 'I'm back' (or 'I'm leaving,' for that matter...) thread!
