FRESH ASK ADMIN
So yeah, this is the new AA thread, and I will ask the Admin: What happened to my post asking if I could make a movie about the CB? Are you guys discussing it?
Right. I opened it after 5 on Friday. So no one is likely to see the query till at least Monday morning.

@ Admins:
Do you know when the results for the dragon story contest will be announced/sent out? And for the people who win, will they win anything? I mean mainly just like a copy of the issue.
I'm sorry it seems to be taking longer and longer to notify winners these days. We are a small staff. We wait until layout for the issue in which the winning entries will appear is set before announcing the winners. Because of the double summer issues, the dragon stories will be in October. It may be another month or so. I don't think the April art winners to be shown in September have even been notified yet.

@Admins
For the photo contest this month, do our pictures have to be from this month? Or could we have taken it in April of this year?
April should be fine. We're not requiring anyone to tell us when the photo was taken. I would say that "enjoying summer" can just mean doing something outdoors (with no snow or frozen natural water showing). Or doing something indoors that might be associated with the season, such as cooling off in front of a fan. . . .

I noticed that I missed the last IC. At that time, I had no idea what the heck that was, but now I know. When's the next one going to be?
It's not scheduled yet. MAYBE the week of July 14 or July 21, whichever one of you decides is better for more people. But I won't be able to specify the time within that week till very close to the day.

Admins, when is the July 2014 issue of Cricket coming out? Has it already been mailed? I haven't received it yet, but I've already received my Muse magazine, which comes from the Cricket magazine company. Is there a specific date for the arrival of the Cricket magazine, or does it vary?
They've been mailed. Some people have received them. We can't predict how many days the US mail takes for delivery. They are mailed from our printer in Michigan, so it may take a few more days to get all the way to Florida.

I got mine yesterday. I think that the description of the Chatterbox in the Letterbox section is very sugar-coated and flowery. But quite accurate nonetheless.

Is there anything submitted by Nora the Singer or Nora G. in the Letterbox? I MUST KNOW! Probably not...but I haven't gotten mine yet and I'm anticipating getting it.
No, you're not in the July/August Letterbox, Nora.

My Cricket's been cut off! I get Cicada now! :( :(
What description was that? It wasn't mine, was it? Oh wait, that was another issue...
(July 12, 2014 - 8:21 am)
Nina, I got mine yesterday, and I live in NC. So yours should come soon, if you don't have it already.
(July 3, 2014 - 1:05 pm)
Mine came yesterday as well, and I'm in north-ish Texas. It usually comes a little earlier (25th - 30/31st of the month before), but I'm glad it's here now!
(July 3, 2014 - 5:28 pm)
Yes, I usually get mine near the 25th to the 30th of each month in previous issues, too! I don't have mail tomorrow because of Independence Day, but I hope to receive it soon! What's the theme of the July 2014 issue?
(July 3, 2014 - 7:58 pm)
Well, I loved the cover, and I would say that is might sum it up. I'm a little surprised that it's not already on the front of the sight. Of course, with what continuing stories and such, there's a good array, but I'd say . . . animals. More emphasis on the wacky kind.
(July 4, 2014 - 5:59 pm)
Yay I just got it today!!! And I have a post published in the magazine! :D
(July 5, 2014 - 1:58 pm)
I saw it, and I was so excited! Congrats to you. ;)

How do you decide who wins the contests?
Good question, Butterfly! We judge Cricket League entries by how well they are done, creativity, and how well they develop the theme of the contest. Unfortunately we sometimes need to disqualify a good entry because the person forgot to include his or her age or a signature or the story or poem is too long. So, everyone, be sure to follow all the rules!

Admin - Is being an Admin a real job? Do you apply for it? How do you become one? Do you work on your own computers at home, or in an office of some sort? Sorry, a lot of questions.
Being an Admin is just part of my job for the Editoral Department of Cricket Media. I started as an Editorial Assistant and was gradually given more and more responsibility. I work from my home office, but two others work from the magazine office in Chicago.
