Chatterbox: Blab About Books

The Longest Thread
The longest thread...

The longest thread on CaC is now finished. I would not like that thread to ever die, so...I pronounced that thread closed. It is not dead, it was just put to sleep. :-)

Anyways, we CBers now have a new mission. We need to make the longest thread ever made here on BaB. The main topic of this thread is books. Please feel free to chat about any books you like.

We have a big challenge, though. We need to get more than 1061 posts! Do you think we can accomplish it? If we try our best we can!

Okay, enough of the pep talk. Let's get chatting!!!! :-D

I couldn't find the first Discworld book at the library today, but I'll try to get it at some point. It must be really good if you all like it! Anyway, here's my list of top 5 favorite books (and series):

1. The Sisters Grimm by Micheal Buckley

2. Anything by Gail Carson Levine!

3. Pure Dead Magic and the rest of the series by Debi Gliori

4. Magyk (Septimus Heap series) by Angie Sage

5. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

There are so many more, but I can't list them all! I think that everyone should read Hitchhiker's at some point, even if you don't like sci-fi. It's extremely good and hilariously funny! The others are also great, but they're all fantasy. Pure Dead Magic is a little bit gross, though.

My top five list is something like this:

1. Jane Eyre

2. Harry Potter

3. Percy Jackson

4. Kidnapped

5. You know what?! I can't do this. The titles of book names are just swimming in my head! I love them all!

I've read all the books on the 2 most recent lists except PDM and Kidnapped, and they're excellent! Many of them wouldn't go on a list of my all time favorite books ever, but I still love the--although, admittedly, it was so many years ago that I read The Sisters Grimm that I don't remember it well.

Has anyone read A Tale of Two Castles by Gail Carson Levine yet? As I said on another thread, I got to actually meet her!! It was flamablamablous. The book is great, too, one of my favorites by her, although I prefer The Two Princesses of Bamarre; it's excellent, and Princess Renn is awesome!!

I agree about The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy; I didn't think I'd like it at first, but then it got to the point where literally all my non-CB friends were obsessed with it, and their taste is similar to mine, so I just had to see what it was about. I'm very glad I did.

Oh, Tale of Two Castles was so good! I agree, Princess Renn is awesome, as is Meenore. On another note, I remember reading that Eoin Colfer (author of Artemis Fowl) is going to be writing the sixth Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book. I sincerely doubt that it will be as good as Douglas Adams', but hopefully it will be close.

I recommend Kidnapped for anyone who likes adventure. Stevenson is an amazing writer!

If you don't mind I am going to put my favorite series because I can not narrow it down to books.

The Penderwick Series by Jeanne Birdsall

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan

The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

I really have to put more than five.

The Melendy Quartet by Elizabeth Enright

The Gone-Away books (Not sure what they are called) by Elizabeth Enright

The Shoe Books by Noel Streatfeild

The Phantom Stallion Series by Terri Farley

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

I really couldn't take out any of these they are all equally my favorites.

@Ima: No I haven't read it. I didn't even know that she had written another book. I will now add that to my summer reading list.

My favorite books:

1. Kingdom.  Keepers.  I know Princess P will agree with me that all of you should read it. Ah-mazing series.

2. Kane Chronicles Series.

3. Rick Riordan's Greek mythology series.  Yes, I know that's two series.  I don't really care.

4. Anything by Gail Carson Levine.  She is the best fantasy author ever!

5. Meg Cabot books.  She can write romance and adventure... often in the same book.  The first time I read the Princess Diaries, I was hooked.

6. The Sisters Grimm series.  I have followed those since they started... I think.

7. I recently got into Sammy Keyes.  I like how she goes about solving mysteries.

8. Lastly, I love Nancy Drew.  The originals are so good!  On rainy summer days, I will sit there and read them.  Preferably while eating a big bowl of Bugles.

I also love the book I am currently writing and my Disney guidebooks.:)

Eoin's Hitchhiker book's been out quite a while now; it's called And Another Thing. It's quite good; nowhere near as good as Douglas, of course, but that was to be expected. It has Wowbagger in it, and is extremely funny.
