Percy Jackson and the Olympians
The Harry Potter...

The Harry Potter era is almost up!!

I think we all know, a new era is dawning, Percy Jackson and the Olympians!

The Percy Jackson
series is possibly the BEST series ever written!

The first book, The Lightning Theif,
is about Percy Jackson the kid who always gets into trouble. He finds out that he is not an ordinary kid -- he's the son of
Poseidon!

Zeus' Bolt has been stolen and who gets the blame? Percy, the
only living offspring of the Big Three (Zeus, Poseidon and Hades). Now he goes on a quest to find the Bolt and
prove that he is not the Lightning Theif with the help of his friends
Grover and Annabeth. But if Percy didn't steal the Bolt, then who did?

Percy Jackson is the new Harry Potter! Though, Harry Potter still has
magnificent and majestic great books, Percy Jackson is taking over!

JK Rowling, is still a great author, and will be known throughout history as "One of the greatest authors of all times", Rick Riorden is now taking her place.

We all know it!! You may have read the Potter books, and say they are better, they are great, but many of us agree, Jackson is the new Potter.

Don't deny it. You may not be a fan of the Olympian books, but you know, Percy Jackson is the new hit!!

Though, Harry Potter will stay in the hearts of many, it will never die
off, or become out-of-fashion, Percy Jackson is taking over.

Hm. Well, the Percy Jackson series is certainly popular, but it isn't that popular. Still, it might become that popular sometime in the nearish future. People have speculated about many books becoming the new HP, but so far, they haven't generally been right. Still, this is more likely to happen than any of the others. I definitely prefer HP to PJ, personally, but these are pretty good, too. Still, I'm not so sure. I just read a book about the HP phenomenon, and PJ isn't even close. It might be someday, though.

Well, I do have some doubts about it.

Harry Potter is like worldwide and adults like it too. Percy Jackson isn't so.

I also HATE how it is in the form of like a diary not a REAL STORY!!

That always makes me think the author isn't as good as everyone says.

I think that when it is like that [Book 1], it is on a 3rd or 4th grade writing level.

It's not in the form of a diary. It's written in the first person. Not only is there a huge difference, it is still a real story. Many great stories have been written in the first person. I personally prefer writing in the first person, for the most part, and find your comment to be rather insulting.

Woah.  Slow down there on the accusations, Vida.  I basically only write in first person.  It's so much easier for me and I prefer reading in first person and writing in first person.  So how does that make a book a third-fourth grade reading level?  Could you explain your reasons, because they don't make sense.  The material, reading level, language, themes and other things are the cause of a book being for the younger or older.  Not "I" or "she/he".

The Alienist is in first person. It certainly isn't third or fourth grade level. ((also, squee historical thriller squee squee)) I bring it up because I'm reading it right now and it's the first one that came to mind.

I mostly write in third person, but that's largely because I think mostly in third person as well.

Anyway, I agree with R~D~ and ZNZ. 1st person =/= diaries =/= third/fourth grade reading level.

...That being said, I didn't like PJ that much. The main character was even more annoying than Harry. =/

Just because you think Percy Jackson's better doesn't mean we all do. And besides, Percy Jackson has been out for years. I have read every Harry Potter book twice (The Prizoner of Azkaban 4 times. It's my favorite), and I've read all the British versions once. You may think Percy Jackson's better, but some of us don't.

Annoyed, let's not be too mean.  I know I really don't have a right to say anything on this subject since I haven't read Harry Potter.  But I believe Percy Jackson is more age appropriate for Vida and more understandable then Harry Potter (I'm just guessing, but Harry Potter, from watching the movies, seems to be, to me, difficult for young children to understand) for her.  No, it doesn't mean it's better or anything, but it seems more like her type of book, so it's okay for her to make a thread about liking it!  Vida, I think the thing that annoyed "Annoyed" and a couple others is the fact that you kinda went overboard on the point.  It's not too big of a deal to me (besides that first person remark which I don't quite understand) but others might think it is.  It's all right, though, it's just a book you enjoyed and I am totally cool with you making a thread like this!

Actually I think Harry is more age appropriate than Percy but that's just me. Percy is more of a young adult book... kind of. And I don't think that Percy is like a diary. It's written in first person which a lot of people prefer to use (ME ME ME!!) Anyway...

Actully, I have read half of the series then my mother came to the revalation sorcery is evil, so she made me stop reading.

And, I am not making fun of, or whatever, people who write in first person (sorry, I put diary but that's not what I meant), I am just saying I really dislike first person. When I think of first person, I don't know why, but a 3rd or 4th grader comes to mind...

@ Robyn: Are you saying I'm a little kid who doesn't understand much of anything? Well just so you know, I am VERY advanced reader (Such as I am in 5th grade, and I am at a 7th grade reading level) and I am also not that much younger than you. You are 14? And I am 11. You may be 3 years older than me, but that does not give you the right to call me "young child". In fact, I am so advanced on reading and writing, I have a  lot of older friends. All my friends are at least 12.  My oldest friend (and my penpal) is 16!

You do make a very good point, but it sounded rude, at least to me it did.

I can understand Harry Potter just fine!!!!

Um, excuse me??? Are you saying I am annoying>??? I have the right of stating my point. And saying I am annoying is just one way that makes me think that I should leave!!!!!

Maybe i should.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

*Takes deep angry, most annoyes sigh*

Don't leave Vida! Nobody has expressed annoyance at your post from what I can tell--in CB everyone should know that they can express their opinion and others have the right to that as well. Part of the reason CB is so fun and interesting is the ecclectic mix of people, and the differences in their likes, dislikes, experiences, etc. Please everyone remember to be respectful of that when you are agreeing or disagreeing with CBers and when you are stating your opinion. - Admin

I disagree, Elizabeth. I started reading the Harry Potter books when I was 8, and I was fine! I read the PJ books when I was 10, and I thought they were WAY less clear. JKR I think adds a lot more detail then RR does. And by the way, the movies are WAY more violent and less understandable than the books. If you haven't read them I think you should.

Sorry but I'm confused. Why do you disagree?

Admin presumably took away your punctuation (exclamation points, by any chance?) and bolding because it implies that you were yelling, which might offend people. That's quite understandable.

R~D~ said what she did about HP being difficult because she hasn't read the books herself. She was guessing. While I agree with you, there's no need to be offended. Also, all people are different, and though I don't know who you are, the fact that you are on the CB implies that you are probably a better reader than most people your age (No offense to anyone who isn't, of course; it's just that many people here seem to be).

Vida didn't mean to be offensive, either (at least, I doubt it; I can't read her mind). She actually didn't even say that PJ was better than HP. There's no need to get upset, though I can understand slight annoyance.

I don't understand the first person thing, either, Vida; could you explain?
