~The Priory of the Orange Tree~

Hello, sorry it took me so long to make this! I'm pretty behind on CB stuff rn... but anyways! Priory of the Orange Tree!! Yayy!! :DD

***WARNING: SPOILERS TO COME***

First things first Ig, favorite characters? Little worldbuilding details? Quotes? Other things I'm too tired to think of rn bc it's 10:28 and I'm tired (I already said this didn't I) but I'm trying to do this tonight anyways bc it's the last day before midterms start and things Officially Get Busy and eek I'm so excited for this!! :DD? (question mark bc this was originally a question before I went on tangents btw) Any complaints/questions/observations? Did you want to talk about something specific? (I'll post my answers later)

btw you don't have to read all the rest of this post (except maybe the very end paragraph) if you don't want to/are too busy, don't ask why I'm including it all anyway :/

It took me sooo ridiculously longgg to finish Priory and I must confess, the only reason I got to doing so before the library due date (well, the renewed due date) is because of my dance concerts. And before you ask, yes, I do find it necessary to tell you all the following paragraphs, because [totally make-sensy reason here]. Did I mention I'm tired? Haha usually night times are my productive times but idk

Basically I joined a dance group at school and so we had two performances in November + one dress rehearsal which was literally us running through the whole performance 2 times (also in November). There are 20 acts/dances in total. So the whole dress rehearsal took 4 hours, with performances being like 2 hours. I'm only in 1 dance that lasts for a few minutes + final bows that lasts for a few minutes + blech social life that lasts for hopefully not my whole life which means like 1-3+ hours of mostly uninterrupted reading time down in the (oh-my-super-so-awesome-the-kind-you-only-read-about-in-books) basement under the stage!! x3!! Which means finishing Priory before having to disappoint librarians! Yayy!! :D

The only downside was that I was finishing the book up so basically a lot of people were dying (well, I mean I thought they had died, which is almost the same thing in the moment) and big dramatic sad stuff was happening and Igrain Crest was getting her head chopped off as really loud bouncy happy peppy music was being blasted over the speakers bc why did so many of the dances have bouncy happy peppy music again?!??? I'm trying to mourn some of my favorite characters almost-dying here! Hello! But oh well it's fine I'm used to it :)

Also I was sitting on the floor next to a trash can (I wonder if this has something to do with my blech social life? :) ) so once someone dumped their trash on me... which I'm fine with it's my fault choosing to sit where I sat but it's kinda like, NOOO!!! EADDDD!!! WHYYYY?!????? Oh hey there's suddenly a candy wrapper on me. BUT EADDDD!!! :)

As you can see, I was pretty devastated when I thought Ead had died cuz she's like my favorite character... I literally burst into tears on multiple occasions and literally no one noticed, everyone around me just kept on doing their makeup and stuff like EAD DIDN'T JUST GET SHOT WITH A POISON DART BY HER OWN SISTER!! BETRAYED! NO! XD Not to mention everything else...

I was still devastated when they call came that it was my turn to go up on stage and perform for the audience so like my whole performance my body's doing the movements but my mind's just EADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!! Almost messed up cuz I was so distracted XD

anyways sorry enough rambling about myself, Priory! Yay! :D

(also I thought I'd put the thread on BaB because I'm gonna be absent for like 2 weeks soon + if you're gonna be busy; currently I think BaB is kinda sorta the most inactive place here so it's less likely to get pushed to the bottom if one of us is too busy to respond; I'm fine with moving it too though if you want (though sorry admins if so cuz extra work...)

Hi Hex, sorry, turns out we have a LOT of plans for the holiday season (and also plans unrelated to the holiday season, but mostly related to the holiday season), so I'll have to respond sometime later. I think tomorrow might be free, but I'm hesitant to say for certain? But ahh Stormlight Archive!!! I really want to read the rest, but alas, I don't have time for a longer book right now. I'm currently reading The Hobbit and my dad and brother (and now also my mom) reallyyyy want me to finish the Harry Potter series, plus I've got to finish rereading some stuff for that book club so that I have everything ~fresh~ in my mind, and then ofc there're other books that various people want me to read, and then there're the books that I've been reading for over a year now that I really want to finish over this break (*cough* The Poppy War. I probably talk about it in all of my book-panicking-or-whatever posts but I'm still on the first chapter :// I should stop talking (...typing) and start reading!) and books I've been meaning to read that I want to read over this break (mostly just The Thursday Murder Club though) and you know, finishing all these books is a feasible goal, right?! Honestly though, I don't really loveee The Hobbit (although if you've read the 75th anniversary edition, the foreword from Christopher Tolkien (I think they stole it from another version or something though) is reallyyyyyyyy interesting!!!!!!! If you haven't read it, I recommend trying to find it!), so I might just move onto The Poppy War. Anyways, I actually don't really have time to be writing this post because I should be getting ready because we're meeting up with my BFF & friends(!!!!) but yayyy about the Stormlight Archive and happy reading!!!!!!

Permutation City and There is No Antimetics Division sound so cool---like, seriously, you have the coolest book recommendations haha :P I will put it on the tbr! And I looked into the castle swimmer vaquita thing, and it's so cool how they made them a mer-race!! Sad too, though :/ that really is great that they got in there though---I saw a source online where some person made vaquita fanart after reading the Castle Swimmer episode :DD

yes, I love both Muse and Cricket!! I probably said this somewhere already, but we went to a bookstore in Taiwan and they had all these issues of Cricket there---it was so cool!! I wonder if Cricket gets translated into other languages...? @admins, do you know (if Cricket magazine gets translated into other languages)?

Wow, that's so cool (about the Head of the Charles---why is it called the Head of the Charles? *looks it up* oh, yeah, that's what I figured :D Charles River! And woah the world's largest 3 day rowing competition?!? :00 That sounds amazing!!)!! I will be cheering you on next year!! Also woah you'll be rowing in October in Boston??? Fall colors!! Although, if you stop to look at them, you'd probably lose the race...

Okie, I'm not sure but I think that might be it---I will give the signal to signal that my response is done! *brings out a traffic cone* *places it on the thread* *sits on it* yes, that is my signal. When my location is "sitting on a traffic cone", you will know that I am done talking and enjoying sitting on my traffic cone. ...okay I can't think right now that is my explanation for this. :D

Hope you're doing okay and happy New Year's Eve!!!!

Cricket magazines are not translated into other languages, but we do have readers all over the world. Cricket World of Wonder prints some things from Cricket magazine in Chinese and is available in China. And Cricket Media's Click magazine is translated into Chinese. Cricket Media also offers foreign language classes.

I finished Stormlight Archive today at like 2 am. my brain has been AHHHH all day and I tried to read something else but I'm having book depression and I miss the characters so muchhhh and it's all I've been talking about all day lol-

anyway! you're probably tired of hearing about Stormlight though :) I really enjoyed both the Hobbit and LoTR, but they are pretty flowery and long. The LoTR movies are also amazing but I don't really like The Hobbit ones. and ooh I enjoyed The Poppy War a lot but it's also pretty dark. (have you read Babel?) I just started Ancillary Justice.

(about the Cricket mag in Taiwan) that's so cool! my local library has some I think? or has had some?

amazing, I love the traffic cone signal. I'll use that as well :D which also reminds me, I don't think I've told you about this (?) but my friend and I are trying to make an escape room this year. (oh wait I posted it on Random Thoughts/Things I think hm) and it's garden gnome themed! you're a garden gnome trying to break into the house (to steal cookies I think?) but need to take a photo with one of the photo taking doorbells. but this escape room is the reason I possess three fake beards, will soon own a plastic lawn flamingo, and have several pictures of me wearing a traffic cone on my head! I wish I could post them...

how's your life been recently?

something cool I did last week was learn to weld :0 it's really hard because you can't really see what you're doing! but super cool :D oh and my first day of real classes was today (though I've been in school for a week and a half)... :/ I'm so tiredddd.

Haha yes I get that feeling (about finishing book five of Stormlight Archive)! Hope Brandon Sanderson finishes the sixth book soon (or the first book of the second arc? There is going to be a second arc, right?) (btw, have I said that I love how he has that nifty progress bar on his site so we can sort of estimate when he'll finish what books? I just checked and apparently he is a bit over halfway done with a Stormlight Archive novella...) so that you can reunite with the world and characters and read on! And no I will probably never be tired of hearing about Stormlight Archive :DD I wish I could read all the rest of the books too but they're so big and The Way of Kings took me... *checks the book log* almost exactly five months to finish. I read so slowly recently!! I feel like I'm always distracted whenever I read now, so I have to read a sentence twice or thrice to fully process it, otherwise I'll just be reading and then I'm like, wait, I have no idea what I'm reading, and then I'll have to go back and reread the whole section anyways. But The Way of Kings was definitely one of the best books I read last year (the other was I Am the Messenger, which was astounding, but I'm debating The Way of Kings maybe being even better?? It's hard to say though, since they're such different books).

I decided not to finish The Hobbit because there're other books I've been in the middle of reading and I keep on ignoring them because I keep starting other books. I have put it on hold for now, but I will get back to it! Honestly though, *SPOILERS FOR ANYONE ELSE READING THIS* I love Bilbo Baggins but Gandalf and the dwarves are soooo annoying!!!! Like, they just totally disrespect Bilbo and then Bilbo can't stand up for the Baggins side of himself and GANDALF is the most ANNOYING of them all (yes I am going to give you a rant this is how annoying this is I take all of this stuff kind of personally lol because I think I have a bit of Baggins in me too) because he just shows up at Bilbo's door and COMPLETELY disrespects him and sends him on this super out-of-his-"comfort-zone" adventure just because, as he says himself (paraphrasing here), it's fun and entertaining for him?? And apparently it's okay because he's some wise wizard who knows everything and it will turn out for the better for Bilbo in the end because he learns to embrace his tookish side or whatever?? It kind of also makes me think of "does the end justify the means". And then, after all that, Gandalf doesn't even accompany them on the dangerous, possibly fatal quest!! He just disappears! And he literally... like Bilbo being late... and all the dirty dishes in the sink... and he like basically doesn't let Bilbo speak and takes advantage of his Baggins-ness!! And he isn't even ashsmed of his actions at all. He's celebrated for them. *annoyance* As Bilbo would say, "good morning!"

*STILL SPOILERS*...but I did find it pretty enjoyable, and I do intend to finish it at some point. Mostly because I got through to the end of chapter one where Gandalf left, which was infuriating but also like yayy!! But anyways, it was taking me too long to finish reading just one chapter, so that's mainly why I decided to return it back to the library and to put reading it on hold. I know you don't like Narnia, but I want to reread that today! The Horse and His Boy :DD I love Narnia, but I haven't been rereading it as often as I'd like, and I'm forgetting things now...

I haven't read Babel, but it's been on my TBR list! It sounds so cool!!! And I will look up Ancillary Justice later, but hope it's good!!

(About the Cricket mags that are/were in your local library) yeah, Cricket seems to be pretty big---it's pretty cool :D .

Yes, I remember the escape room idea!! That was so cool :DD Wait, but my question is: are there actual cookies you can eat at the end?? That'd be AWESOME :DD But haha yes it sounds so fun!! Also when you say you were wearing a traffic cone on your head that reminds me of Owl House (don't know if you remember, but Luz was walking around wearing a so-dirty-that-it-was-black traffic cone on her head because she thought it was a witch hat :P). Traffic cones I feel like are somehow hilarious objects?? They seem like they could be very prone to comedy :D

Uh, my life has been... *doesn't have the words to describe* but I've been okay!! I've been being really productive, which is really nice :DDD except for right now... when I should not be posting on here... but, if you didn't notice, I was absent on here for like five days, which is probably a record for me haha, so I've been catching up on all the stuff I missed. Anyways, how has life been for you?

Welding sounds scary and cool :0 you can't see what you're doing?? But don't you have like a flame in one hand?? And there's hot metal?? And sparks flying?? It must be safe, but...? But wow :D Sounds awesome! Do you get to make anything?

Also, I just realized I don't know if you were done with your post yet... but here is a reply!

Oof, yeah. Hope classes don't overwhelm you!! *virtual hugs if you want them* <33

okay, and I should've been done with this post 49 minutes ago, and speaking of school... bye!!!! :D
