Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Suggestions
Iv'e noticed lately...

Iv'e noticed lately that every thread I post on, I unconciously try to turn it into a book reccomending thread. Embarassed

@balletandbow, sorry about the commment on the would you rather thread.

So I thought  I would get it all out now and make a book recommendation thread.Smile Here's what I think would happen:

CBer 1: I'm reading whatever book by whatever writer, if you remember. It's whatever genre.

CBer 2: Comments on book. I think you might like whatever book by whatever author, if you remember.

FEEL FREE TO TALK OR DEBATE ABOUT THE BOOK, JUST TRY TO KEEP THE SUGGESTIONS GOING.

Hope this is fun!

Gah, the only books mentioned here that I've read are A Series of Unfortunate Events.  I would love to reccomend a series I just read, but I'm afraid they're probably not age appropriate.  Ah, the joys of growing up.  XD

Well, let's see.  Here's a series I can recommend!  The Last Apprentice books by Joseph Delaney.  Really good.  A might creepy at times but really good.  I'm on book 5, The Wrath of the Bloodeye.

I'll stop by later with more recommendations.  ☺If anyone knows of any high fantasy books like The Wolf Hunt, by Gillian Bradshaw I would be most appreciative if you'd let me know!

Here are some of my favorite books (Note: not in any specific order)

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Expurey is an epic, short story which I loooooooooove! So amazing and beautiful!!!!

Faraway Tree Series by Enid Blyton is an amazing fantasy story. The characters in these stories are so magical, and you feel like you're going on adventures with Jo, Fanny, and Bessie.

Do Androids Dream Electric Sheep? by Phillip K. Dick is such a great sci-fi. At first, I was a bit confused by the characters, but the book is super good. One of the best sci-fi's by FAR.

I <3 books! Who doesn't?

I didn't really like SoUE (or Mr. Snicket in general), but it's preference, I guess. I thought it was too dark and repetative. I got too depressed and bored after about four books.

Here are some books you MUST read if you want to live:

The Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin McKinley. It's Robin Hood, but he's new, improved, relatable, romantic, and awesome.

Anything in the West Creek Middle School series by Claudia Mills! It's SO good! The order is:

-Losers Inc.

-You're a Brave Man, Julius Zimmerman

-Lizzie at Last

-Alex Ryan, Stop That

-Makeovers by Marcia

They are the best realistic fiction books I have EVER read. Ever. Has anyone else read them? (My favorite character is Lizzie.)

Oh, and another amazing book by Ms. Mills: Cally's Enterprise. It's about this girl name Cally who always does what everyone tells her to and tries not to have any opinions until... Chuck Foster comes along and makes her think for herself.

More later...

Also, Echo is such a good book!

The Midnight Folk

Counting on Grace

Inkheart

The Thief Lord

Little Men

Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life

I'll think of some more later!

I tried Inkheart and didn't really like it that much, but Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life is awesome. Wendy Mass is an amazing writer!

If you want suggestions for books by her here they are:

Every Soul a Star

The Candy Makers

                                                                           Pi in the Sky

And someone else already said this, but A Mango Shaped Space is really good!

I've read The Mysterious Benedict Society, I'm reading the curious world of Calpurnia Tate, and I'm reading Anne of Green Gables. I love 1 and 3, 2 not as much but still good. (I used numbers because I didn't want to write the long names again ;-P)

I've read... literally all of these books and they're some of my (thousands of) favourites! We're actually reading the Westing Game in Language right now! Here are some other good books...

The Book Theif- a bit hard to get through at times, but still really good

The Books of Elsewhere- easy to read, but not to short, mystery/adventure books in which a girl travels into a painting.

A Mango Shaped Space- a story about a girl with synesthesia and her cat.

One for the Murphys- a book about a foster kid. And other stuff.

The Unwanteds- decent length (almost 400 pages). About kids who are creative in a world where they want nothing of the sort. These kids are sent to die. Instead they go to a school of magic. Read it.

All Rick Riordan Books- do I really even need to say this....

Belly Up- a murder mystery in which the victim is Henry the hippo, the most famous hippo ever to live. 2 kids are the main characters, a boy and a girl, and they investigate, no matter how much they've been told not to. VERY GOOD. (Easy to read though)

Hunger Games- I feel like everyone cat prizes these as lovey dovey books, but let me just tell you this: they're not actually in love just pretending to get the public on their side. Full of action. Takes place in the future. But WARNING unless your favourite cherries is Katniss or Peeta, ALL YOUR FAVOURITE CHERRIES WILL DIE. So don't get to attached. Or do get attached and then come cry with me

Land of Stories- cliffhangers, loads of action and adventure, a bit of mystery and a lot of magic and fairy tales, but not in a pink girly 'everything is perfect' kind of way. Boy and girl main characters.

if you want to recommend for me, I like fantasy, mystery, and fiction. Mostly fantasy. Bye now!

Savvy, I also really like the Land of the Stories books!

Me too! Land of Stories Rocks!

I recommend the Septimus Heap series, by Angie Sage. It's a fantasy (unfortunately, I would love to live there) world where there are Wizards and Witches, Princess and Ghosts. It's a really great series, and my friend that read it after I did said it was better than Harry Potter!
