Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Suggestions
Iv'e noticed lately...

Iv'e noticed lately that every thread I post on, I unconciously try to turn it into a book reccomending thread. Embarassed

@balletandbow, sorry about the commment on the would you rather thread.

So I thought  I would get it all out now and make a book recommendation thread.Smile Here's what I think would happen:

CBer 1: I'm reading whatever book by whatever writer, if you remember. It's whatever genre.

CBer 2: Comments on book. I think you might like whatever book by whatever author, if you remember.

FEEL FREE TO TALK OR DEBATE ABOUT THE BOOK, JUST TRY TO KEEP THE SUGGESTIONS GOING.

Hope this is fun!

I just started A Series of Unfortunate Events and finished book 1 the same day I got it. They're not terribly long books, but I like the dark humor and seemingly sarcastic over-the-top terrible things that happen to the characters.

I also just finished the Mysterious Benedict society "quadrilogy" for the third time. Those books are amazing.

Dolphin says "idcm," which I will take to mean "I don't care much." How dare you! Everyone cares about books!

Well, if your'e looking for some thing that's dark and sarcastic, I would read A Tale Dark and Grimm.

It's about the original Grimm Fairy Tales, not the  sweet Disney ones, which I have nothing against, but they're not at all like their Grimm counterparts. The narrator is very sarcastic and the introduction is AMAZING!

I'm reading When You Reach Me, by Rachel Some-name-that-I-forgot.  It's set in almost modern times and it's mystery. Oh, if you liked this book read The Westing Games. So. Good. Suggestions?

When You Reach Me is Rebecca Stead.

Also, A Tale Dark and Grimm is one of those books I was thinking, "Ah! This is SO creepy, I can't read this!" at the same time I thought, "Ah! This is SO good, I must read this!"

I just read one of my favorite books ever! That is saying a lot because I have read a lot, a lot, a lot of books.  It is called Echo and it is amazing.  Read it if you love books, you won't be sorry.

THAT IS POSSIBLY THE BEST BOOK OF ALL TIME!!!!!

Riding Freedom, Esperanza Rising, The Dreamer, Becoming Niomi Leon and Paint the Wind are also by that author, and I've read all of them.  They're all pretty good, but none of them really compare to Echo.

l read Paint the Wind. l was first excited, then disappointed, as the book takes place in Wyoming, but is really inaccurate.

I love Lemony Snicket. I like to think he and  share a sense of humor. Hopefully. I love hiswriting style. If you enjoy A Series of Unfortunate events, you'll probably enjoy his most recent series, All the Wrong Questions. It's even more sarcastic. . . It's a lot darker, though. Just be catious.

I LOVE the Mysterious Benedict Society and A Series of Unfortunate Events, although the end left a LOT of questions unanswered. But overall, both series were AMAZING!!!

Bibliophile, The Westing Game is one of my favorite books! I love it, It's so captivating! Have any of you read Nory Ryan's Song by Patricia Reilly Giff? It is a short read but a very good book for reading over and over again! Patricia Reilly Giff is well known for Lily's Crossing.

I read Nory Ryan's Song in fourth grade and did a project on it. I read Lily's Crossing too, and then we read it in fourth grade. The Westing Game was really good.
