I was serious, Lena. I'm not always joking. I was actually apologizing.
We don't not like the fans of Twilight; they're perfectly entitled to their opinions. It's when they become all obsessive and radical that they earn nicknames- merely nicknames, note- such as "Twazi." We're not actually comparing them to Nazis or anything/one related to the subject... it's just a term. Like, they say they have "OCD"- which is really quite rude, in my opinion- but they don't actually, they're just expressing their obsession over Edward and Twilight in general. Figures of speech, some of which are acceptable and some of which are simply not.

Hey, I'm fine with fans. Heck, most of my RL friends are fans (as in, "oh I liked Twilight, but I can see that it has some issues... for example sparkling vampires, which is odd" fans, you know, fans who read other stuff too). I wouldn't be on the Twilght Lex if I wasn't ok with fans. I don't mind mild fans, Twilighters, or even Twihards. People deal with me and my obsessions (Firefly, Bellatrix and Voldy, Sweeney Todd, etc. etc.) so I figure I should except theirs so long as they're reasonable about it and don't rant 24/7.
It's the psychotic, "you don't like Twilight so I'm gonna scream at you/throw something at you/attack you in some way" fans who literally attack people for saying they're not fond of Twilight. They're the ones antis have christened "twazis" because they, well, act like Nazis, only against antis instead of Jews.
Y'see the poster above who started this discussion I'd label a Twihard, judging from what they said and how they said it. Now, if said Twihard saw that I didn't like Twilight, and immediately jumped on me and started 'yelling'- that is, writing in all caps- about how i was an idiot or mentally challenged, or jealous of smeyer/bella, or that I was a fail!writer, because I couldn't recognize the most amazing piece of literature in the world, that would upgrade (or downgrade, depending on how you look at it) her to a Twazi- because she attacked me verbally solely because of my distaste for Twilight. I am not, however, calling her a Twazi now, just a Twihard, which, as I said, I don't mind much.
Does that make sense?

Well, a little. The thing is, well, don't get me wrong. Cyberbulling is wrong and nasty and cruel, but it's not Nazi-ish. It's just that in my perhaps slightly oversensitive mind, comparing the Nazis' torturing people to death to someone saying 'you don't like Twilight so I'm going to throw a book at you' is a little extreme. Sorry... Am I being my dead-bug self here, or does anyone agree with me?

I'VE NEVER ATTACKED ANYONE!!!!!!!! (except maybe on warriors...)

*gives cookies* I'm very glad to hear it.

It took me three days to read twilight. And about a week for new moon. They were so BORING. Twilight is one of the two books that I don't like that much. I normally don't take any brakes on reading books except to eat and go to the bathroom. But on twilight I took A LOT of bakes. I have read a book today and i have started a other. I don't LOVE twilight. I don't HATE it either. I just think that it's okay. But I'm closer to HATE, then LOVE. Cullens are creepy. Bella is crazy: she loves a creepy person. Weird persons. (By weird persons i mean Sparklepants and Bella- I mean Clumsyshirt.)

I don't think it's exactly a comparison, Lena, because it's obviously on a much lower scale. The term might pertain more to the excessive passion about the beliefs than the treatment of people whose beliefs differ...?
(June 10, 2009 - 4:18 pm)
Well, yeah, obviously Twazis don't go around committing genocide against people who don't like Twilight. But some crazy stuff has happened- people have been stalked, beaten (with chairs, a baseball bat, fists...), one girl had a knife pulled on her, someone was attacked by a dog, someone wrote "Twilight sucks" on her backpack and was attacked with a pair of scissors... The point being, we call them Twazis because they, like the Nazis, seek to exterminate all views that don't agree with their view of Twilight, though thankfully they don't go to quite the extremes that the Nazis did.

Oh, yeah, I can see that a little more. I thought it was just online. Okay, that is pretty awful. Thanks for explaining.
Mary, I'm sorry if I ignored your post. I did write something in response, but I said some things I shouldn't have said on them and I immediately wrote a bunch of follow-up remorseful posts and the whole post was deleted. Sorry! And TNÖ's post cleared it up a little, so yeah. I get what you were saying.

Fine, Lena... I didn't even notice that you were "ignoring" me. :) So no problem. :)
Attacked with scissors? Chairs? DOGS? Stalked? Because they don't like a stupid book? Are you kidding?
(June 12, 2009 - 3:12 pm)
Yeah... you may have noticed I'm a little prone to overreacting. Which is an understatement.
(June 12, 2009 - 5:15 pm)
Absolutely fine. :)

I'd say there are 4 types of twilight fans:
Twilites:
These like Twilight as a book, and some characters, but recognize some of the characters are total Mary-Sues
Twimis:
Medium Twilighters. They like it, and say the characters aren't Mary-Sues, but they don't obsess about it.
Twihards:
Love, L-O-V-E, LOVE Twilight. Usually obsessed with Eddie Cullen (Sorry, it's Mr. Sparklepants, but don't mind if other people dislike Twilight
Twazi:
Wants everybody to love Twilight, and will destroy those who don't.
I have some Twimi friends, and they are perfectly nice.
