I stayed up

I stayed up all night. Again. And finally decided to write a fic (a drabble, if you want to be precise–100 words precisely) concerning one of the more random and pointless bits of my Harry Potter head!canon.

Discworld and Harry Potter make for interesting crossovers.

The dusty little shop had stood there longer than anything. Before the shops, before the glittering marble bank with its polished golden doors, before Diagon Alley, the wand shop was there. The wandmaker had been there, too, as permanent as his shop.

Question for those

Question for those of you who write fantasy fiction, specifically that involving magic.

Assuming you have categories of "light" and "dark" magic (which is pretty standard fare, so I'm guessing that most of you fantasy writers do), how do you distinguish between the two fields? Is it merely a distinction of good/evil, or something more concrete? In the case of the former, how does one distinguish between good and evil? And are there certain types of magic that are considered "neutral" and don't fall under either category?

Quiz! Here a

Quiz!

Here are a few questions, just because I have no idea what else to write:

1. Which character (in a book not your own) would you change places with for a day?

2. Which character (in your own book or roleplay) would you change places with for a day?

3. Which famous person in history you would like to meet and why?

How do your

How do your characters get their names?

Seriously, how. Not that I'm going to steal your method, but I'm just curious.

Riddle SI!We

Riddle SI!

Well, this is... not really an SI. This is more for having fun, writing something that resembles a riddle about yourself, and guessing. I'm using mine as an example, because it's really easy.

I'm the one who usually

gets guessed first in SIs

Sometimes you can't see me

but usually I'm just crazy

Mosquitoes don't bite me that much

but I still scratch

You probably know who I am already,

but this will secure it.

So, I'm writing

So, I'm writing my novel, which ends in the grand Survival Challenge (no, it is not like the Hunger Games; there is no killing, it's more like a month-long outdoor camp) and the aim of the Challenge is to find the Object. Now, I have no idea what the Object is, so I need suggestions! It can be absolutely anything; at this point, I'm desperate. No matter how wacky or ridiculous, I'll consider it. Help!

I'm writing a story about a girl named Athena Aphrodite Hera Godress. She's new, and a bit... off. ("The "r" was an accident," she insists. She shows up her first day with a Greek outfit and laurel leaf headband. ) My problem is... 1st or 3rd person? Which do you like better? Help, please! I can write the intro if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

Claire!

So, my internal editor kicked in and guess what I did. No, really, guess.

Yeah, I started rewriting the TMG fic AGAIN. YES, I know this is like the fourth time and YES I am ashamed of myself. Ugh, its like an addiction and I can't stop.

NEW sci-fi RR!!!

NEW sci-fi RR!!! :D because I love these and I want to put one of my never-finished-novel-first-chapters to fun use since I'm never going to do anything with them. :) Here's the beginning, continue however you see fit. :)

Have a poem,

Have a poem, darlings. I'd love some feedback, especially as I don't attempt rhyme very often. It's called "The Beast Who Feeds on Fear."

*

And just what will cause the apocalypse?

A hint: It won’t be politics.

It won’t come in fire or ice or flood

There won’t be explosions or rivers of blood.

You know that the end of the world, my dear

Will come from the beast who feeds on fear.
