Palace of Dreams;

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Palace of Dreams;

Palace of Dreams; A Non-Death Ski Lodge

The renowned Palace of Dreams was created purely from imagination, once upon a time ago. It is Located in the In-Between, somewhere in the middle of life and death, good and evil, sushi and tacos.

The City of Illusions sprawled both elegantly and chaoticly over a large majority of the Dreamscape, with the Palace at it's heart. The rest of the Dreamscape consisted of the mountainous, fragrant, and mildly wild jungle of Thoughts.

But more information on that another time. After all, some hopes and dreams last forever.

The Palce of Dreams never wears the same dress more then once, so to speak. It is fluid, always changing shape, size, style and color. For instance, one day it would be a large, sleek (though admittedly drafty) medieval castle, stay that way for a month, the abruptly change into a big farmhouse only to switch to a modern mansion the next day.

The rooms never stayed the same long either. Something new always popped up, as dreams do. But, as dreams do, old things also rolled back through.

And the best thing? You could reside here. Easily. All you have to do is imagine.

Who's offering sanctuary, you wonder? Well. That depends.

If you read this in the past, then, I'm offering. Mr. Yesterday, a pleasure to meet you, and I'm sure to see you soon.

If you're reading this now, then I'm the on asking! Miss Today, at your service!

And finally, if you are reading this in the future, then it happens to be myself, Mx. Tomorrow, telling you all this.

Rather confusing, isn't it? Aren't you reading all of this in the past, present, AND future, technically? Perhaps it would be best to assume we are all extending an invitation.

We will be accepting and unlimited number of CBers (and CBer's only, please). There will be no explicit to NO violence, blood, or pickles, given this is a non-death ski lodge. Pickles are rather murderous on a bad day.

Slots will close on June 21st, and the first part of this ski lodge will come out around a week later. I will not be revealing my CBer self until the end of this ski lodge. Anyone leaving for the summer, I'd be happy if you entered regardless, so long as you actually want to! You could always read once you return :)

Day 0, Part 4

CelineBurningBright

First of all, the grass. Who knew grass could be such a vibrant green? Lush and fresh and smelling pretty good!

Celine’s eyes traveled upward, to the suddenly flourishing forest, to the sunset streaked sky. Her head went up and up, almost upside down, and so she turned around, and saw the City.

No longer was the view dull and brown. She still couldn’t see much, but suddenly the sky line was disrupted with tall buildings and skyscrapers, busy with lights. A curving bridge and many highways showed a number of colored vehicles zipping along.

Celine turned back to the shack. Well, not that it could be called a shack anymore.

A tall, blue colored mansion rose and expanded, disappearing into the trees on either side. Large white columns held up the awning for a porch, with double oak doors standing open at the end. Windows gleamed in the sun’s late rays, some open with white curtains fluttering. It was at least four stories high, and Celine had no idea how big it actually expanded.

Her eyes then finally settled on the three people that had sprung into existence in front of them. They were an odd trio.

On the left, there was a man, most likely Mr. Yesterday, who wore an old fashioned suit and bowler hat. His heavy brows darkened his brown eyes, his skin dark, a few stray gray and black curls coming out from under his hat. Wrinkles lined his forehead, as though he spent most of his time frowning, but in contemplation. He didn’t seem mean nor friendly, just present.

In the middle, a young Asian lady with shoulder length black hair and creamy complexion beamed happily at them all, making her slanted eyes almost close. She wore a brightly flowered dress that swished pleasantly as she twirled side to side on the spot.

To the right, the perhaps most strangest figure stood. Neither short nor tall, their clothes were gray and dull, contrasting wildly to the straight, bright red hair that hung on the left side of their face to their shoulders. A bright green eye and thin mouth could be seen. The entire right side of their face was covered by a metal mask, with a slit for the eye, a diamond tear glittering near the slit. Jewels made an eyebrow and general designs on the mask, right up to the fox ear at the top of it. Despite the bright jewels, hair and eye color, their entire figure was strangely disfigured, like if you stared at something for a while, your eyes couldn’t really focus. Their form was shadowed where it shouldn’t have been.

“A proper welcome, now that we can all see each other,” The middle one said. “I’m so happy to see so many new faces! I’m Miss Today, and this is Mr. Yesterday and Mx. Tomorrow.” She indicated the man on the left, then the masked person on the right. “I really am sorry I forgot to send the potions along with Bill, it would’ve made the ride much more enjoyable.”

There was a brief silence, and Miss Today smiled at them again. “Well, before we go into the Palace and get a few things explained, we need to make sure you’re all here and get you checked in! Mr. Yesterday?”

The man in the suit pulled out a clipboard from who knows where and began calling out names. “Amethyst?”

“Here!” she said.

Mr. Yesterday checked off something with a pen. “Amity?”

“Present.”

And on it went. Celine dutifully called out, “HERE!” when her name was called, and soon the list was over.

“Well then, come on in and we’ll get you settled.” Miss Today started up the few stairs onto the porch and to the double doors. “Oh, there is one more being to introduce you to.”

Celine went up the stairs and through the doors with the others, looking for the other person. She saw nobody, but the grand entrance hall with its smooth marble floors and line of chandeliers was enough to distract her. A double wide staircase went up to the next floor, as well as splitting off in two directions, lining the upper wall with a balcony before going their separate ways.

Miss Today stopped before they could climb the stairs. A weird, prickly feeling of annoyance crept up Celine’s spine, and she frowned. Miss Today rolled her eyes. “I’m getting there, geez. Everyone, please meet the Palace. It is very exciting to have more invited guests dwell in its halls again. Palace, well, meet everyone who is staying here!”

The feeling of annoyance vanished, replaced by pride and welcoming emotions. It felt almost like someone was giving Celine a hug. All around her, the other CBers wiggled uncomfortably, like they all felt the same. Around them, something like a childs’ giggle echoed around the room.

“Ah yes, you may be feeling the emotions of the Palace. But don’t worry! It isn’t constant, just brief feelings,” Miss Today reassured them.

“Hello, Palace,” Blossom told the room.

“Yeah, hi! Thanks for letting us stay,” Celine pipped.

Another giggle, and then the feeling of contentment that drifted away quickly.

“Well, I’d say turn in for an early night, eh?” Mr. Yesterday spoke. “Any questions or whatnot can be answered in the morning.”

“Aw!” was the general cry the group took up.

“Aw!” Miss Today agreed.

“No, I think it best they all go and find their rooms,” Mx. Tomorrow said quietly.

Miss Today instantly nodded, and gave a regretful smile. “Tomorrow knows best, remember that. Well, feel free to find your room, any room! None should be occupied right now. We’ll send up some food!”

Celine and the others nodded, and they began climbing the stairs. At the top, Celine said aloud, “Palace, help me find a room?”

She felt helpful at once, and a door to her left opened, guiding her down a hallway.
