ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

@Alex Thank you! If I have any skills with markers, it's because I practice all the time-- I love my markers! You should have seen the first marker drawings I made. They looked terrible! Have you ever tried using alcohol-based markers (Copic, Ohuhu, Arrtx, Master, etc)? I could give you some tips. My first tip would be, don't use shiny marker paper!!

@Evergreen I don't play D&D, but one of my best friends does! I'm kind of interested in playing it, actually. Do you play? Do you have any tips for starting?

@cerinthe Your art is really cool! I especially like the little creature you drew. I am SO BAD at drawing animals lol, do you have any tips?
@La'Crosse I love your hand letterings, and I adore the one you did for me! Your handwriting is really nice, too.
@Aqua Your art style is so cool! I love how it's similar to manga but it's also very much your own style. Your characters are the perfect mix of cool and adorable. I love your art!
@Abigail *tackle hugs* I haven't seen you here in forever! Welcome back! As always, your art style is amazing! I love the stylized proportions and the confident lineart. Your characters are always so expressive!
@Alex Oh cool, I use Ohuhus too! I think a good tip would be to put down two coats of color, like you would if you were painting something, you know? If you only use one layer of color with markers, it will probably look streaky/patchy and uneven. Oh, and if you have a blender marker, try experimenting with it! You can get some pretty cool textures with a blending marker, and it's possible to create a cool gradient with it. I don't know a lot about blending markers, but there are some good online tutorials out there.
Here's something I made the other day. It's just a quick sketch of two of my OCs (Miziru and Ghost)

Thanks for the tip! I did notice with some of my drawings it looked kinda uneven.

Thank you so much! I used a reference, and I think that's the only reason it turned out. XD I would be truly lost without references.

Any tips for drawing animals?....Well, I feel like I kinda taught myself, I don't really know how to explain it. But some advice, I guess, is to copy photos of animals. It really helps to figure out how the animal actually looks - if you're just drawing from your imagination at first it won't come out as well.

Also learning anatomy in general. Now I personally don't really know animal anatomy that well, but learning about the human body in science, particularly the bone structure, has actually helped a LOT, even in drawing non-humanoids it's really helpful and important!

The way you draw animals now is really cute, btw. :D But if you want to draw them more realistically mebbe all dat ^^^ will be helpful, idk.

I'm glad you like my art! And, this comment is getting too long, so bye....hehe...

@Leeli WOW that's amazing! How do you draw hair so well???

@Cerinthe Thanks for the tip! Yeah, reference photos are really useful. And thanks for the compliment! I do like how I draw animals now, but I would like to be able to draw them realistically so I can fit them into scenes with people. Those tips really help, thank you!

Thank you! My usual method for drawing hair is to block out the basic shape I want it to be in first, and then fill it out more with individual strands. Something that helps is to think of how the hair is moving, and follow that movement with the strands. I also like to add different sections of hair so it's not all one blob. Stray strands that follow the same line of hair are nice too. Once I sketch it out lightly I just play around with it until it looks decent. I darken lines that I like and ignore what I don't. And of course references. They are incredibly helpful and it isn't cheating to use one, I promise. XD

@Evergreen I forgot to say this, but your mermaid looks really cool! I love how flowy the hair is.

This is something I'm kinda proud of. It's my best friend and I as fantasy heroes. (I'm the one in armor XD, since my friend wanted me to draw her as an elf) I colored it in Photoshop but the drawing was originally drawn on paper.
