ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

So I was messing around with my art mannequin and trying out various poses. This one is pretty decent.

Constructive criticism would be really helpful. ;)

This one is... less decent.

And this one is downright terrible, but I was curious how a tail would attach on to a human body. HOW do you draw people from the side?!

Profiles are difficult. I'm not sure how to explain it, so just practice, and draw from life--that helps a lot. Models aren't actually much good. Not for me, at least. Photos are okay if you can't draw quickly and don't want to make your family members sit or stand still for a long time.

Painfully. That's how you draw them from the side.

Profiles! I can sorta do profiles some of the time! So, basically what you have to focus on is the spinal column. The spine curves, and you did a great job on that, Coyote! Some people's spines curve a little more and some a little less, depending on the person's posture and their physical fitness and build. You could actually move the curve a little closer to the pelvis and tailbone (or in this case, tail), which I think would be a little more accurate, but I'm not absolutely certain. Definately look at yourself in mirrors for a model!

When drawing profiles the most difficult part for me is where the arms attach. It helps to think about the shoulders and how they attach. They are actually a little closer to the spine when you look at a body from the side, not directly in the middle (where I generally stick them on the first couple tries). Again, this depends on the person's posture. If they have good posture, the shoulders will be farther back. Bad posture means they will be farther forward. The chest will definately cave in more as the shoulders go forward and stick out farther as they go backward.

The neck is part of the spinal collumn, so it should follow that line. When I'm drawing the sides of people I generally make a circle for the head, attach a slightly protruding chin, and add triangle for the nose. I find this to be a good base. You can really tell on that one drawing I posted a few months ago of that girl painting, if you remember (or feel like hunting back through the thread. I can post again if you like.)

Hope this helps a bit! Good luck!

I don't know if this counts as art, but this is the bracelet I made for the CB friendship bracelet thing.

So I stole Alizarine’s idea to hand-letter everyone’s names, so i didn’t a whole bunch of people on the same piece of paper.  If you’re there, then props to you, I think of you when I think of the CB.  If your name isn’t there I’m sorry.  You’ll probably be on the next one.

Awww! Lucy, it absolutely made my day to see my name on there. Thank you so much! All of these are so beautiful, and they capture the people in a wonderful way! <3
