Drawing!

Well, lately I've been sort of fine-tuning my drawings... this is sort of a copy of Coral's Drawing Thread, where we posted some of our drawings. So, behold a page of my doodles... (please let this show up please let this show up!)

myahh. It's so tiny -annoyed glare at picture-

Sorry, Tiffany. It's not showing up here at all.

@Quintus: Oh my gosh, she looks so cool! I love how you did the hair and the eyes. What does she have in her hand?

It's a cross between a pair of scissors and a pair of pliers. Don't ask me.

Thanks! The finished version is fully shaded, but Scanner doesn't work now so :P

Attempting to get used to my new haircut by drawing it in a mirror:

It's so short. And fluffy. And light!

(Also: Wonderland tshirt FTW)

((Also also: the amount of squeeing I did when I figured out I could make the "y" in Haley into the F in my last name with the addition of a single stroke back in middle school were NOT TO BE BELIEVED. Mmmmyep.))

So. About two days ago I made the mistake of watching "I Will Prevail" from Wonderland over and over again for like three hours. (Most. Epic. Villain. Song. EVER.)

This happened.

Update: last night, I tweeted this to Kate Shindle. And she replied. and I'm kind of in shock right now. akjsdf;lasjdfa;ldsfja;ldkfjasd;lfk she's too amazing

(ironically enough, the captcha says fanf. Why yes, I am a hopeless Shindle fan. Why do you ask?)

Ugh I'm still all shaky. I can hardly type.

Q-tip sand graphite dust from the sandpaper I use to shape my pencils. Mmmyep.

I had to spend forever cleaning this up on paint.net after drawing it (that's a program, admins, not a link) but it turned out to be worth it.
Yes, she is coming up out of the water. Being drawn, really. Picture an alien-abduction beam, but not quite like that.
Also, the clothes are forming onto her, not falling off. >.< I have to clarify that sometimes.

That's pretty awesome. Especially the hair and the drippy bits.

So here's a question: what does everybody's drawing process look like?

I sketch with a mechanical pencil, but shade with wood pencils that I sharpen with sand-paper. And also cotton wool or q-tips for blending. Sometimes I dabble in charcoal but it's usually too messy for my delicate sensibilities.

Note: I'm going to describe my digital process, because digital art is what I mostly do these days (and I generally use a mouse, yes. I'm magical.) and I don't really have a specific process for traditional art...prepare for a rant that only those who know about digital art and the way GIMO works will understand.

I make a new layer, just because the background is annoying. There, I draw the skeleton in bright, ridiculous colors. I set the layer opacity to about thirty, then I add a new layer.

I draw the line art, generally using the smallest paintbrush tool.

I hide or delete the skeleton.

I add yet another layer and place it below the line-art. I colour it in the base colors. Then I make a new layer, shade one area with the pencil and smudge it, merge down, and repeat until everything is shaded except the hair. For the hair, I draw the  strands, new layer, lighting, merge down.

Draw the background and shadows in the background.

Picture of justice.
