Drawing!

Well, lately I've been sort of fine-tuning my drawings... this is sort of a copy of Coral's Drawing Thread, where we posted some of our drawings. So, behold a page of my doodles... (please let this show up please let this show up!)

myahh. It's so tiny -annoyed glare at picture-

Sorry, Tiffany. It's not showing up here at all.

I have no idea who Break is, but that is AWESOME.

Xerxes Break. Only the most psychopathic, spectacular character to hit manga. Read Pandora Hearts, you will understand. He doesn't like to use doors :)

The series is Pandora Hearts? I'll try it-- I need some good manga recommendations.

And no, I have no preferance between shōjo and shōnen manga.

I lean more towards shounen, personally. I just find the whole magical-girl-team-coupled-with-exremely-improbable-circumstances-and-weird-romance shebang to be really boring sometimes. Although shounen can be like that sometimes too, full of testosterone and random fight scenes.

*I fail at answering questions*

Pandora Hearts is on the shounen side of the spectrum with some shoujo elements. It centers around Oz Vessalius and this crazy alternate place called the Abyss. Break comes in about halfway through the first book, although my absolute favorite scene with him is in the thrid book, where (after entering the room from underneath a table) tries to talk seriously to people, epically fails, then falls off said table saying "I am air!"

I would definitely recommend Alice in the Country of Hearts, Death Note, Black Butler, D-Gray-Man, Fullmetal Alchemist, or, if you're hoping for something a bit lighter, Ouran High School Host Club :D because only Kyoya can wear a giant green caterpillar suit and still be that amazing.

Giant catepillar suits are good.

Also I'm glad someone else knows what shonen and shojo are.

I thought that I was the only one in the world who knew that.

Of course, I don't know many super maga obsessed people, nor am I one.

Though I'm trying manga.

And it is good.

I'm not completely obsessed *cough* but I am quite familiar with it. Ehehehehe.

For a very unique mix of shounen and shoujo, try Library Wars.

And you're definitely not the only person who knows what shounen and shoujo are. There are people who coined the term.

Well, yeah, I just don't know any of the poeple who coined the term. See, I am NOT the only one quite into comics at my school, but I'm probably the only one who learns the terms, studies comics, and finds them more than entertainment.

Which can be quite annoying when I start talking about something and everyone stares at me like I'm crazy, because I am.

Neither do I! But just the fact that the term exists somewhere means that you are not alone in knowing it. Now I'm confusing myself.

I definitely plan on publishing a story in the form of a graphic novel. Because I have no idea how I could convey Violet's antics in the written word, and I also really like to draw monster bunnies fighting dragons. And Lacey's hair is cool.

I have this idea for a story, perhaps a nano, but it would make a much better graphic novel, because I can literally see one of the characters in my head. And I do strive to write a full length graphic novel.

In that case, you could be a NaNoRebel and churn out 1 and 2/3 of a page of comics per day, totalling up to 50 pages instead of 50000 words. And really, isn't a picture worth a thousand words? So it stands to reason that 1 and 2/3 pictures = 1667 words, or the wpd you need to win NaNoWriMo.

Huh. It's an idea. I could make it work, I just take forever to release that much in comics.

Me too! And that is why Live Wire on SmackJeeves is taking so long to start, because I have to churn out enough buffer pages for it to last when I'm on vacation from life.

@Theo: I haven't read that series, but Cadel looks adorable. I love that style of shading, too!

@L: That's awesome! I have no idea who Break is, but... that coat! And the hat! *flails*

This is what I have spent the last five hours doing instead of studying for my stats final:

This is Thursday, the primary antagonist in this story I've finally gotten around to writing. She's one of the most magically powerful (mortal) beings in the world and completely nuts because the chaos goddess enjoys caking around with her head.

Sooo it's been a while. But I got a graphic tablet yesterday for my birthday. And to break it in and get accustomed to the ridiculous coordination required to draw without looking at one's hands...

...I drew Kate as the Hatter. Obviously.

Also I was in an art class between now and the last time I posted on this thread. These are HUGE because I was working on 14x17" paper, so you'll have to open them in tabs or windows to see the whole thing:

Pastel beach

Pastel bridge

Charcoal of what I see from my Wyoming bedroom window

And non-class doodles:

Morris's hair looks like an octopus trying to eat his brain. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE REFERENCES, GUYS

...so the story behind this one was that I wanted to draw Barbara Walsh because PRETTY and of course I had to draw her as Joanne because Joanne is awesome. And then my friend who loves Company and haaaaates Mary Snow and Davidjames from OUaT was like "you should add Larry somewhere explaining to the Charmings about how Joanne tries to pack up and leave every six months" and that devolved into a conversation about how Larry totally sics Joanne on people who annoy him. (I have no idea how he got Joanne to leave New York, though. PLOT HOLE)
