The Ball Of
The Ball Of Stars!
~⭐️~
Welcome to the annual Ball of Stars! This ball is dedicated to the one night where the stars of Kyngdom perfectly align. This ball is therefore open to the public!
Food and beverages will be provided, as well as music. Since we want everyone who wishes to come to the Ball to be accounted for, please be at our castle in Northeastern Kyngdom by 6:30 PM sharp. Our doors will close at 6:31. At exactly 8:00, the ballroom roof will open and lights will turn off so everyone can gaze at the night sky and at the beautiful stars! There will be box seats for all Nobyls and for those who reserve them. (All they are really used for is so you can relax if you are tired.)
This ball can be on any NEARBY day that is decided on! Everyone is welcome!
Please reserve a night to relax and have fun at Kyngdom’s annual Ball of Stars!

That sounds nice.
(January 25, 2018 - 9:04 am)
I'll be there with Kelsi!
(January 24, 2018 - 12:20 pm)
SOOOOOOO it's Iyana and Mitchell aka Lucy B. again... I'm trying to get into more stuff so I can get them involved in stuff...
ANyhow, Mitchell's reserving a box for herself and Iyana doesn't really need one since she's a ghost and can watch while being invisible so yeah...
(January 25, 2018 - 1:41 am)
I’ll start RPing later tonight since Ball Coordinator allows us. See you all then!
(January 25, 2018 - 3:57 pm)
Kimi will most likely be coming.
(January 25, 2018 - 4:31 pm)
We are different people. XD
Oh, and Ètoile and Finn reserved box seats.
——
Ètoile~
I walk into the ball, arm in Finn’s.
“Should we go to the seats?” I ask.
“The stars won’t align for another hour or so. I think we still have time.”
I smile and give a quick nod, looking around. The ball is well lit with star lanterns that float near the ceiling. Magic.
“Shall we dance?” Finn asks.
He gives a crooked smile and I smile back.
“Yes.”
Finn~
So Ètoile and I are a thing. I’m the luckiest person in Kyngdom.
After getting appointed as general of the Resistance Navy fleet, we didn’t have much time to spend together, but luckily, this ball came up. We’re both prepared in case anything happens, but we’re sure it won’t.
The ball starts off with the Waltz of Kyngdom, the traditional dance that we all learn as children that gets more intricate over time.
Soon we’re rolling through dances, and the night seems as though it will never end.
Mina~
I walk into the ball, alone. Perhaps it could have been with Baron, but it’s not time to be bitter. I’m not the romantic type anyway, which is still hard for me when I stand, looking at all the happy couples.
I shrug the thought away, and some of the female inhabitants of Kyngdom look towards me.
Of course. I’m wearing my formal General’s uniform and a formal cape instead of a dress. And then a crown graces the rest of the outfit by sitting on my head.
“Mina,” Sprocket says coming up to me. Her dress is gorgeous, and she walks with Kristjan.
“I’ve secured the perimeter and checked with the guards for good reinforcement,” I state.
Sprocket gives me a 2 second blank stare before laughing. “Enjoy the ball Mina! Loosen up!”
I smile and agree with her in my head before I go to find Sylenia.
(January 25, 2018 - 6:35 pm)
I stroll casually through the humongous ballroom, passing acquaintances as I walk by. I soon find Mina walking alone.
”Mina!” I exclaim, embracing her. “I hoped you would come.”
”Why, of course,” she replies, smiling.
I look at her outfit and see what she is wearing.
”Mina! Why didn’t you wear that dress I bought you?” I cross my arms. (Ok, I didn’t actually plan Sylenia buying a dress for her. This is just for dialogue purposes.)
”Because I’m not going to be wearing a dress when Catastrophe storms this ball.”
I sigh and smile. “Mina. All my life, you’ve always been prepared, sometimes a little paranoid...but honestly, you need to just loosen up a bit! He probably isn’t coming after that meeting I heard about. So...let’s just enjoy this ball, shall we?”
I hold out my arm, and we dance together, like how we did when we were younger. Time passes by until I get tired.
”Excuse me. I’ll be at the beverage table.” I say to her, and I grab a fancy glass of punch.
The stars will be aligning soon.
(January 26, 2018 - 4:37 pm)
I lied to Sylenia through my teeth and feel guilty. I’m actually wearing this uniform because I don’t like dresses all that much. I look towards the speaker, and he announces the stars will be aligning in an hour.
I clear my throat, stand up, and start walking towards the ladies’ restroom. After using the bathroom, I go out to wash my hands and look in the mirror, spotting someone behind me.
I continue to casually wash my hands, but the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It’s my old commanding officer from when I used to be a lieutenant for Catastrophe.
“Fancy seeing you here, Courageux.”
I look up again, meeting her piercing blue eyes.
“You realise there’s more than one sink, right?”
”Oh don’t be so tense, Lieutenant-“
”General,” I correct. “Queen, actually.”
She smirks. “Don’t be so tense. I’m not here to make any arrests or start a fight. My husband is the Baron of Tevekti. We were invited fairly.”
The tension is the room is actually unbearable, so I nod, wipe my hands with a paper towel, and begin to leave.
“Oh, and Mina.”
I stop in my tracks and don’t turn.
“I’m very sorry to hear about Baron. What a waste of a good soldier.”
My jaw tightens. Restrain yourself, Mina.
I don’t say anything as I open the door and continue to walk out, heading back towards the box seats.
Sylenia sits, chatting pleasantly with Duke Norstrom of one of the many Dolor Felis kingdoms.
I quickly sit beside her, and force myself to look pleasant as I stare at the stars.
“Mina...you okay?”
I raise an eyebrow and glance at Sylenia. “Yeah, why?”
”Your fists are very much clenched,” she replies, and I immediately loosen them.
“Just thinking,” I reply, and continue to look at the stars, ignoring her questioning glances.
(January 26, 2018 - 5:06 pm)
I relax and let it go. If she doesn’t want to tell me, that’s okay. I’m sure it was an unsettling situation.
”This view is beautiful, isn’t it?” Duke Norstrom chirps.
I sigh. “Yes, it is.”
Mina squares her shoulders. I can tell that she isn’t fully relaxed. Perhaps she just wants the two of us together, without another person with us.
”Er, Duke Norstrom,” I begin, “Have you checked out the food yet? It’s quite delicious, really.”
He nods and gets out of his seat to go to the food table. I scoot closer to Mina.
”Mina. You can tell me what’s going on. We’re cousins, right? Who am I going to tell?” I ask,
She is silent for a few moments.
”It’s about Baron, isn’t it?” I raise an eyebrow. “You met someone who spoke rudely of him.”
”It’s complicated, Syl.” Mina sighs and finally looks at me. “I...don’t want to talk about it.”
I nod in understanding. “Very well. So...how about you introduce me to some of your Resistance friends?”
She finally smiles at me. “If you say so.”

UGGH MY CHARRIES DON'T KNOW ANYONE
~Mitchell
We arrive late, as always. It's so beautiful tonight, and I can't believe I get to be here in Kyngdom with so many other people. Iyana soarsin after me, looking at everything curiously. "I can't wait to see how many people I can scare! Or how many things I can haunt!" she squeals.
"Too bad we can't play," I mutter.
"What!? Why not?" Iyana asks.
"When I reserved my box, I saw that music was already provided," I explain.
"Aww, why can't we go ask whoever's hosting?" Iyana whines, making me cross my arms.
"Because we don't know anyone!" I nearly yell at her. Everything stops for a second before going back to what we're doing. "And now we're drawing attention."

Hey, do you want Mitchell and Nygrune to meet?
(January 26, 2018 - 6:19 pm)
Sure! Sorry for answering so late, I've been kinda busy...
(January 28, 2018 - 12:44 pm)
That's okay, I have too. :)
(January 29, 2018 - 3:18 pm)
Ocean~
It’s my first ball.
I’ve never really been to balls or large parties. Mum used to go to them often to represent Mer or something, but I never thought much of them. However, with mum gone, I have to represent Mer now.
Lady Rorsche selected for me a high neck dark blue ball gown, with tiny golden stars along the skirt and waist area. My blonde hair is arranged in a loose braid bun with some strands of hair hanging around my face to frame it. I look fine, but I don’t feel fine.
I really wish I could be here with mum. That’s the only feeling I feel right now.
Loss.
I sit in the box seat next to Prince Jon of Lesascade, and his twin sister, Princess Rosephine, the only two royals around my age.
Although we’re young, we act mature. At least that’s what all the older Nobyls and Royals say.
I spot Nygrune and walk up to him, tugging at his jacket. I know that was childish, but he looks down and smiles anyway.
“My lady,” he says, giving a small bow.
I giggle. “Have you got some magic, sir Nygrune?”
He smiles and lets gold dust resembling stars float from his hands.
My eyes widen and I touch it, but as soon as I do, it disappears with a shimmer.
“Princess Ocean!” I hear Lady Rosche’s voice say.
I groan slightly.
“Magic is not to be dealt with lightly,” she scolds me, although casting a nasty glance at Nygrune. “Please be more careful.”
“Of course, Lady Rosche,” I reply, and she walks away.
“Sorry. She doesn’t like magic. In fact, magic is slowly disappearing from Mer.”
“Ah,” he replies. “I can teach you if you’d like.”
“Really?” I ask excitedly.
“Yes,” he says. “Just come by the Resistance base some time, the one in your kingdom. I’m there often.”
I smile and give him a quick hug while thanking him before I quickly walk back to Jon and Rosephine.
“What?” Jon asks.
“Huh?”
“Why are you so excited?”
I smile, a sparkle in my eyes. “Magic.”

@Viola, is that okay? I kinda thought it’d be cool if Ocean looked up to Nygrune, but if you don’t like it, we can just ignore it.

Mina~
I feel a sudden urge to walk outside and onto the balcony.
“Be right back,” I smile at Sylenia.
She nods, distracted, and I walk out of the box seat and outside.
Facing the open sky, I finally breathe but gasp when I feel a hand on my shoulder.
I whip around and find an older woman, with a dark ball gown on.
“Mina, it’s me, Nova.”
I sigh in relief. “What’s wrong?”
“I know how to get rid of your power,” she says excitedly.
“Oh?” I ask. “How?”
“Give it to Ocean. You know, Harbor’s daughter.”
I pause then scoff. “Yeah. Like that’s going to happen.”
Nova gives me a confused look and I shake my head.
“Alexandria never got it. We thought she did, but the power was defending itself. The Crown’s power does not want to be touched.”
“It’ll work if you give it to Ocean. It comes out as darkness through you because you’ve seen a lot of war and death. But if the power were to be transferred to Ocean, a pure and innocent child, it could be a golden light of good power.”
“No,” I reply firmly. “I’d rather it destroy me than let her become burdened with it.”
Nova’s eyes harden. “Then I’ll just have to take it.”
Suddenly my breath stops and it feels as though someone is slowly cutting my limb off, but I can’t scream or react.
Nova’s hand shakes, as the power swirls into her palm. With an effort, she looks back in the room where you can see Ocean’s small figure talking to one of her friends.
The power blasts at her full force, and I can tell no one can see it. But Nova and I can.
I see Ocean falter than pass out, as some crowd around her. I twitch, trying to escape Nova’s frozen hold on me.
Finally, she lets go, and I gasp for air, dropping to my knees.
“How could you?” I shout.
“It is best,” she replies. “Find out who her father was, and you’ll find out why she’s the only one that can use that power.”
Nova slowly starts to disappear, and I leap to try to desperately grab her and strangle her, but it’s too late. She’s gone.
I shake my head in frustration and run back in to where Ocean fell.
She’s standing now and seems to be fine, and people start to walk away, but she’s still standing there with an older woman and some Royals.
“What happened?” I ask.
“Nothing,” she replies lightly. “I think I just got faint headed for a moment. I should be fine.”
I nod at her. “I suggest that if you feel anything else, you go back to Mer, alright?”
She nods in tiredness, and I give her a pat on the shoulder before heading back to Sylenia.
“Is she alright?” she asks.
I nod. “She’s better.” And so am I. With the power gone from me, I definitely feel better.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you’ve been waiting for! Look up to see the stars slowly starting to align!”
(January 26, 2018 - 6:30 pm)
Oh no, yes, that's beautiful. *excited*
Oh, but who's Nova? Sorry if that's dumb.
Nygrune~
I walk into the ball in full array: double-breasted jacket with blue embroidery and brass buttons, dark dress pants and low-heeled shoes, fingerless gloves, stylish hat, and steampunk binoculars around my neck.
The ballroom is octangular, with high windows, a polished tile floor and an open roof. Two long tables of refreshments stand by the far wall, accompanied by the only four chairs in the room. An abundance of wrought iron lanterns cast a golden light over everything. I note others in attendance--General Mina, the Lady Sylenia, Ocean of Mer with the twins of Lesascade, Sprocket of SailHaven, Alex R. and his sweetheart Kelsi, the Winged Ones Cornibus, Aviance, Volucris and David, Lady Etoile and a boy I think is named Finn...
I feel a tug on my jacket and look down. The princess Ocean stands beside me.
"My lady," I smile, bowing.
The princess giggles. "Have you got some magic, sir Nygrune?"
My smile widens, and I kneel. From my upturned palm, I conjure a simple light spell, producing a slow flurry of stars. The princess watches amazed, reaches out to touch them and dissolves some.
"Princess Ocean!" A woman's voice, hardness masking a note of fear. The princess turns with a poorly suppressed groan as her caretaker walks stiffly towards us. I allow the spell to fade.
"Magic is not to be dealt with lightly," the governess reprimands, shooting me a needled glare. "Please be more careful."
"Of course, Lady Rosche," the princess answers dismissively. The lady looks daggers at me once more before stepping away.
"Sorry," the princess tells me. I feel almost dizzy, being apologized to by royalty. "She doesn't like magic. In fact, magic is slowly disappearing from Mer."
"Ah," escapes me, and then "I might teach you, if you like."
Her face lights up. "Really?"
"Yes," I continue, not wishing to disappoint. "Just come visit the Resistance base some time. The one in your kingdom. I'm there often."
She bursts out in thanks and smiles and hugs me, briefly, before skipping back to her companions. I rise back to my feet, excitement welling in me. Then my gaze shifts to General Mina and Nova. The General looks pained. Nova has her hand out, and there is magic in it, intensely powerful. The smile falls from my face as she sends it hurtling into Princess Ocean, who stumbles at the impact, sways, and crumples to the floor.
There is a lull in the chatter of the gathered stargazers, and then a rushing swell. Someone screams. People draw magnetically in towards the fallen princess, including me, but then she rises. She shakes her golden head and blinks. The people begin to fall back, their talk the sound of a receding wave. The word 'tripped' begins to circulate.
General Mina has run up, and now speaks to the princess.
"What happened?"
"Nothing. I think I just got faint headed for a minute. I'm fine."
"I suggest that if you feel anything else, you go back to Mer, all right?"
The princess nods, and the general walks away. Suddenly I notice Lady Rosche watching me with a mixture of fury, hatred and fear. I bow slightly, expressing concern, and am saved by the announcement.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you've been waiting for! Look up to see the stars beginning to align!"
The lights go out with a soft whoosh, and everyone looks up at the sky. True enough, a band of white pinpricks in the black velvet dome are moving almost imperceptibly into a line above us.
