Any other mages-in-traini

Any other mages-in-training around? Wizard apprentices? Sorceress helpers? Greetings from the Aftermoor Woods and yulve (magic be with you) to those who are also of the spell trade. I am Grace X, youngest make-in-training of the Aftermoor Woods. Honestly, I'm a bit unfamiliar to the surrounding and you have probably never ventured past the Old Alchemist's gate which serves as the entrance to the Dehlum Spell Trade Academy. Because of this, I'll start off.

~Grace

"Too much Isle Inscene," Wizard Jeynsu reports as he walks through the tables of Quiiun(learners of spell trade). "You need to work on perfect measurements Aviear. Being a wizard requires precision. Eva, work on the swirls. You need to put your emotion into your creation. I can tell that you are bored. Yesmin, your woodwork is getting shavings all over the floor. Use your magic abilities to clean up. And Grace," I look up, waiting expectantly for advice and willing to receive it. "Good job." Wizard Jeynsu's frosty blue eyes turn a warm carmel brown. A curse, some may call it, to always show your emotions, but the color washes over me like warm sunshine. I smile at him, and return to the art of vine riddles.

Well that's it from me. Except for a few nessecary tips. Stay away from Devlin Werpose. She can exploit your secrets faster than you can say aevvon sen wuerdo (deceived and tricked). And don't eat the year old pastries in the cafeteria or you might lose forteen of your teeth like Sorceress Lyzne. Also, don't trust anything Weston Pierce says, he's currently under a say the opposite spell. So with that, I'll just sign off. Yulve sen insa ozyu! [magic be with you and reading continue]

I'm not required to take the quiz, even though I peeked at it through someone else's paper and it was the easiest thing I've ever seen. Instead I spend the rest of the period messing around with my wand. It's not my horn, but it's still pretty good.

I notice that a couple of times, a girl by the name of Grace looks towards me, then peering at my wand. Well, as long as there are no questions that I can't answer, th-

"Hello?" I hear someone's voice call.

I shake my head from my thinking and notice that the students are leaving the class, but Grace stands at my desk. I stand up and smile.

"Sorry, I was....Can I help you?"

"Well, welcome! I was just wondering where you got your wand. It looks real neat."

I gulp. "Ollivander's."

She raises an eyebrow. "What?"

"It's a place outside of this region," I reply with a big smile.

Since when did Harry Potter cross my mind in Kyngdom?

She raises an eyebrow again but smiles. "Okay then. Do you want to eat lunch and hang out with me during free period?"

"Sure!" I reply. "Maybe you could help me around the school and stuff."

I am literally cringing from what I say inside.

"Alright, that sounds good. Catch you later, then?"

"Yup!" I say a bit too loudly. I hiss through my teeth.

She waves and I wave back until I see her dissapear from the classroom. When she does, I put my hand down and sigh in relief.

That was close.

thanks for the idea Calamari!

Avery seems a bit on edge. I'm still marveling about her effortlessness in the other class. I'm walking to my last period of the day when Mage Uven stops me. "Grace," she says. "I would like to speak with you." Nervously I step into her room. She closes the door behind me. Her emerald green robes twirl around her. She lets out a deep sigh. "I hate to ask this of you because I know you would never do this. But according to research, someone at the school is creating hazardous creatures from magic to enhance their own abilities. Certain clues say it might be you."

I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I can't seem to find anything to RP about. I'm running out of ideas.

You could get attacked by something and show off your magic skills, maybe allowing Grace or whoever else to come dashing in to help you.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I'm just under the impression that you can't post twice in a row.

I catch Grace at lunch and immediately notice the concerned expression on her face.

"Are you alright?"

She holds up a finger and smiles before fainting. She just...dropped.

I look around to make sure no one is watching and then out my two fingers to her temple, entering her mind.

~~~
"But according to research, someone at the school is creating hazardous creatures from magic to enhance their own abilities. Certain clues say it might be you."
She gasps. "I would never-"
The older mags sighs. "For the time being, as the investigation continues, you will have to check in at times with another mage and other mages will be watching you. Don't do anything ridiculous, Grace."
~~~

I inhale sharply as I slam back into the real world. Letting out a shaky breath, I make a swiping motion across Grace's forehead. She stirs and sits up.

"Avery, what happened?"

"You fainted," I reply.

"No, but something else happened."

"I don't think so," I quickly reply. "C'mon, lets go get you cleaned up. Tell me what happened."

It was lunch, and I was exhausted. Trying to find my special ability was hard. I was put in the "late" program, so they were quickly trying to find me something to specialize in.

The only problem was that I couldn't do magic. I had only managed one spell today, and that was to move a cup across the table. I had been able to on the island, but this was different. All of the constant pressure to hurry up, you're late, you need to find a specialty or else we don't know what to do with you was getting to me. If I had some skill in magic it was refusing to come out.

I grabbed a tray from the counter and moved down the line with everyone else. The line moved slowly, each person stepping up to a slot and saying what they wanted to eat. Their trays filled, they would move onto sit at a table.

I approached one of the slots hesitantly. Everyone else around me was moving swiftly along, and the girl behind me was tapping her foot impatiently.

"Um, roasted hake and palm greens," I say, spitting out the first thing that comes to mind. "Please," I add.

The hatch opens and out comes a plate with what I ordered on it. I smile and pick it up, savoring the delicious smell.

My smile melts when I confront the cafeteria.

It was a large room with a jagged cliff on one side with a waterfall spilling off of it. The far side was a meadow with logs to sit on, and the wall to my left had giant trees growing out of the floor up to the ceiling. Kids were chatting in their groups and mingling amoung each other, some calling out in greetings to one another. A group of students were climbing the cliffs, egged on by a crowd chanting their names below.

I glance around for a familiar face, but only see the girl that ran into me in the hallway. She was slumped against the wall with another girl, probably grabbing a much needed nap. Mark was nowhere to be seen.

Walking across the floor quickly, I dodge into the copse of trees. I don't look up as I pass groups of kids talking and laughing, and pretty soon I reach the wall.

No one else had gone this far into the trees, so I was alone. Looking up, I try to see if any of the trees are climbable.

They were almost all pine, foreign and strange. I was only used to climbing jacarandas and eucalyptus, and pines were nothing like them.

Sitting down on the needle-strewn ground, I take a bite of my food. The once-delicious food now tasted bland and tasteless. Setting my tray down, I bury my head in my hands, finally letting the tears spill out that I had held back for so long.

~Grace X

There's something in the back of my mind, nagging me about something.  It's surrounded by a thick white fog, and I can't see what it is. "No, but something else happened."

"I don't think so," replies Avery, perhaps a bit too quickly. "C'mon, let's go get you cleaned up. Tell me what happened." After a moment's hesitation, I spill. It comes out in a raggedy hushed whisper and I struggle to pull myself together.

"I wouldn't create harmful magical creatures!" I say bitterly. "Life runs it's own course, and I am not in charge of creating."

Avery's eyes are filled with sympathy. "Of course. This must be terrible for you."

"It just hurts everything inside that they suspect me." I say, my once ravenous stomach now unable to eat.

"I know," says Avery. And something tells me, she really does know.

"Hey there."

I look up, startled, when I hear a voice.

A girl is standing in front of me, her gaze friendly.

I hurridly stand up, wiping the tears from my face.

"Um, hi?" I say, looking around for anyone else. It was just her.

"My name's Millicent. Millicent Harde." She reaches out a hand and we shake.

"My name's Kaiota."

"I heard you crying," she continued.

I blushed, lowering my eyes.

"Is something wrong?" She asked. "Do you want to talk?"

I gesture helplessly, and she comes and sits down by me. I sit down as well, leaning against the trunk and looking up.

"I just really hate it here," I burst out. Then the whole story comes out. How I want to go home, how this place is so unfamiliar, how I can't seem to do any magic, how no one will talk to me. I don't know why I'm breaking up in front of a complete stranger, but something about Millicent made her seem trustworthy.

Throughout my whole outburst, Millicent sits quietly, nodding in some parts.

Finally I finish, wiping my nose.

"So yeah," I say. "That's why I was crying."

Suddenly Millicent stands up.

"Come with me," she says, walking towards the central area of the cafeteria.

I follow, curious.

We stop just behind the treeline, the whole eating area spread out before us.

Millicent pointed to the crowd of people near the cliffs.

"See the red head climbing the cliffs?" she asked. "His name is Kristian Hallbrook, and I met him near where I met you. He was crying about how he would never find friends."

She smiled.

"Now look at him," she said as he reached the top of the cliffs, the crowd below chanting his name.

Millicent pointed to another group of people.

"There. That girl with the blonde hair and glasses. She was crying about how dumb she was and how she would never do magic. Now she is the top student in her grade, and is almost ready to graduate."

Turning to me, Millicent put her arm around my shoulder.

"Don't worry, things will turn out for the best."
