SOCS Costume Ball
I'm making this thread because it was agreed that someone should. It's for the costume ball that's being held by the SOCS, possibly the SOCS Army. I believe those who may attend are those who are in or allied with the SOCS and those in the town(s) directly surrounding the location of the ball. A specific place was not decided on to my knowledge, so if anyone has any ideas for that, please post them here. The thread can also be used for planning, ball-related art, out-of-charrie discussions and of course, ball RPs.
I think that's it, so... Let the posting commence!

I walk into the restaurant, trying not to trip over my dress. The weapons inside were the only thing that felt comfortig, but otherwise I just felt strange. This was far distant from the work shirt and tattered jeans I usually wore.
Our dates are waiting in a table, talking softly. As we walk in they stand up, staring at us. I know that I might look a bit weird in this stupid dress, but they didn't have to stare.
Finally Alexander clears his throat and they walk up to introduce themselves. My date was tall with jet black hair and a scar down the side of his face. He introduced himself as Finnigan, and he said he was a first class assasin.
Great. I get the one who is educated in killing me. I needed to be careful.
"My name is Alma," I say, trying to be elegant. I had a bit of practice with flirting. In the streets sometimes I had needed to seem like the little ditz.
I look around. shadow looks extremelly uncomfortable, and Mina is sizing her guy. Trillian was chatting comfortablly, and Alexander was tugging at his tie. The rest of the guests were sitting around waiting to leave. I sigh. Lets just get to the killing part.
(December 10, 2016 - 9:17 am)
"We should go to the dance, My friends and I will stay behind, you should go first and explain that we are not technicly invited." I say to the dates. When they leave, I hand out the extra weapons I brought. I am still worried, and slightly annoyed, but at least we made it through the first part. Now the dates should fall in love with us, which will make destroying their lives a little more fun.
(December 10, 2016 - 11:49 am)
We sit around the table, discussing the plan. Alexander runs through all the basics.
"But remember, we're going to kill our dates, so just don't get too attatched." He says.
"Kill?! You said we weren't going to have to kill anyone!" I say.
"shadow, this is a war," says Sprocket, "Lives are going to be lost."
"But why so many?" I say, "We could take them as hostages, maybe try to turn them to our side-"
"We can't do that," responds Mina, "it's not in the plan."
Before I can say another word, Alexander bids us farewell. We leave the resteraunt and split up, attempting to locate our dates. I watch Mina find a handsome gentleman, adn Sprocket leans on the arm of her suitor. Nygrune has been stuck with a beautiful young woman, and Lycaella looks uncomfortable with the man who's flirting with her. So does Autumn, the werewolf.
I finally see my date, a boy maybe a year or two older than me. He has dark brown hair and blue eyes, and a splash of freckles fall across his nose. He wears a dark tux and tie.
I smooth down my dress and take a deep breath.
Time to meet my date.
(December 10, 2016 - 12:29 pm)
Um... Actually, I was thinking Nygrune and Lycaella would go together... Sorry, sorry, it's fine.
(December 10, 2016 - 3:57 pm)
I chat amiably with my date. He was nice enough, kind of an idiot though, I hoped I wouldnt p have to kill him. There were loads of people there including Alexander, Sprocket, Autumn, Mina, Nygrune, and Lycaella. So far no recognizable enemies had appeared but I had a feeling it wouldn't be long before someone showed up who wanted to kill us.
(December 10, 2016 - 2:44 pm)
I walk imto the ballroom. I sprinkle explosives on the entrence way. I make sure I have my weapons, and advance.
Fun fact: humans are prone to not guessing the obviosly fake backstorys of strangers.
(December 10, 2016 - 6:01 pm)
After Trillian tugs at my brown hair and I put on a blue dress, I slip on a small gun and knife as we walk into the restaraunt. A boy walks in with us, and he nods at me. Alexander. I look at the rest of us, and we all look good. Well, I think I look a little strange. But that might be because I'm a cat that's turned into a human. We walk in, and Alexander leads us to the tables with our dates. Sprocket stares at hers, shadow looks at hers uncomfortably, and Trillian looks to start a conversation. I look for mine, and I don't see him, when a guy runs into the restaraunt.
"S-sorry," he stutters to Alexander, gasping.
Alexander glares at him ever so slightly and shrugs. "Don't apologize to me," he says, nodding his head over at me.
I look at my date.
Dark brown hair, really green eyes, freckles, a little taller than me.
He straightens and clears his throat. "I apologize for being late. I'm Lune," he says.
I snap from my thoughts and shake my head. "Oh, that's fine. I'm Rey."
He nods and we both sit down at the table.
As we talk (turns out Lune is pretty funny), I begin to notice some strange things about him. I analyze him, of course, for any weaknesses, but none really show up. What's weird is that sometimes when there's a small noise that I can hear because I'm a cat, he'll turn in the direction a little bit because he seems to hear it too. And sometimes he'll narrow his eyes like cats naturally do, but not in a suspicious way. He shows features of a cat. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
"So, where are you from?" he asks.
I lie. "East Tory. You?"
"Lorta-I mean, Losky," he replies.
My suspicions are confirmed. Lortara is a cat kingdom.
I'm going to the ball with another cat turned human.
~~~~
While the group ahead leads us in the direction of the ball, I stay back with Shadow and Sprocket.
"How's yours?" I ask both of them.
"Mine's an assasin," Sprocket sighs. "So reassuring."
"Don't know too much about mine yet," Shadow says. "How about yours, Mina?"
Should I tell them? No, I don't have enough time to explain.
"Er, um, no," I force out.
They give me a weird look but shrug.
Trillian gasps, and we all look up.
We've arrived at the ball.
(December 10, 2016 - 7:47 pm)
I sigh and put my dress on. It's a really pretty deep purple, and the silver jewlery compliments it. I pull my hair up and put it in a neat donut bun. But I don't like it.
I take it out and let my hair down. I pull back the sides and clip them. Weird, I've never let my hair down before.
I slide a knife and gun down the weapon strap on my ankle. No one can see it.
I then walk out of my room and down the stairs to where the ball is taking place.
The man greets me and announces my name.
"General Alexandria Reguex!"
Some acknowledge me, but otherwise the ball is loud with music.
"Where is Poe Allen?" the man asks.
I swallow. "He couldn't make it."
That's right. The assasination is a secret for now.
I walk down the steps, and head to the side to talk to a captain when a large party arrives.
I've never seen them before, but it is a community ball.
You never know who arrives.
(December 10, 2016 - 8:00 pm)
As we walk in I gasp. Floating crystals filled with light float in the air, casting sparkling shadows on the floor. The room is filled with ballroom music, and peoples gowns glow. Streamers float in the air, making the ceiling a twirling mass of gold and silver.
"Are you alright?" Finnigan asks. I felt him tighten his grip on my arm.
"Oh I'm perfectly fine. Just as long as I am with you," I bat my eyelashes.
He smiles and escorts me to a table where he pulls out the chair for me. I sit down and smile at him.
Inside I am retching. I didn't like being Miss Simper Bat-Your-Eyelashes girl. I hated flirting. This better be worth it.
Across the room Alexander gives me a thumbs up. I sigh. This was going to be a long night.
(December 10, 2016 - 8:21 pm)
After a while, I walk up to the stage. I grabe a the microphone, and yell " Lets get this party started."
I light the explosives I planted around the room. I pull out my special pistol, and point it at my date. I see my friends do the same. And I think we all had the most fun of out lives. Until Elliot showed up...
(December 11, 2016 - 12:35 am)
I laugh at another one of Lune's jokes, when I see a blonde girl with a dark purple dress in the corner chatting with a captain. Alexandria.
"If you'll excuse me," I say, standing up. "I'm going to the washroom."
I walk to the bathroom where I see Shadow, Sprocket, and Trillian traling behind me.
I open the door to the bathroom and make sure no one else is inside. I then make a small motion for them to come in.
They look behind them and close the door.
I take a deep breath and exhale.
"She's here," Sprocket and I say at the same time.
"Alexandria?" Trillian asks.
"Who else?" Sprocket sighs. "I wonder if Alexadner noticed."
"Probably," Shadow replies. "He's watching everyone like a hawk. As if he's trying to look suspicious."
We all giggle, but our expressions turn serious.
"So what's the plan?" Shadow asks.
(December 11, 2016 - 12:55 am)
Mina takes a deep breath, thinking about her options.
"Go back to the dance, act normal. Try to get info on the SOCS."
I nod and leave.
My date turns out to be named Jay. He works as a doctor on the battlefield, healing the wounded who fight for Catastrophe. He escourts me into the ballroom, and before I even know it we're dancing. We talk about many things. His work, the ballroom, the War. I carefully skirt around any topics involving the Resistance. I mention to him my love for horses, and learn that he shares that passion. By the end of our first dance, he's already looking at me differently. He asks me to go outside with him, and since there's nothing better to do, I say yes.
We go out to the rose gardens encircling the ball. We find a nice bench to sit on, and I look around. The garden is so beautiful at night, and the moon iluminates everything.
"So Jammira," says Jay, "I know we know we haven't known each other for that long-"
"We've known each other for less than a day."
"Still, I feel like-well, maybe this will explain."
And then he leans forward and kisses me.
I take a breath and smooth down my dress. I look up to see someone standing beside the bench. Alexander.
"Jay, could you leave us for a moment?"
He nods and leaves what I assume for him is an awkward situation. I look at Alexander, and before he has a chance to speak, I do.
"I think he's in love with me. You happy?"
(December 11, 2016 - 8:23 am)
Next up for a likely tragic death: Jay. Maybe I could write obituaries for everyone who dies. Is that morbid? I don't know, but I still kind of hope Lycaella and Nygrune are just going together. It's a dilemma: Collect info and have to kill, or escape having to kill but not learn anything. And that all depends on whether or not they had dates. ...Alexander? Did you get dates for Nygrune and Lycaella?
(December 11, 2016 - 2:39 pm)
No.
(December 11, 2016 - 7:26 pm)
Shadow nods and walks out of the bathroom, and we all do the same. I walk back to my seat where Lune is still waiting.
He nods and stands up. "Care to dance?"
I nod but inside I'm screaming. I have no idea how to dance.
But it turns out the steps are fairly simple. While we dance, we talk, and Lune tells me that he is a spy for Catastrophe's army.
I then bring a casual topic up.
"Do you use any serums to turn you into different humans or possibly...animals?"
He looks at me for a second. "Why?"
I think of an excuse. "I may be wrong. I've just heard those types of things about spies."
Funny, I'm a spy and that's exactly what I used.
"I mean, I have used it a few times, more of an animal thing. Disguises work for humans."
Now's my chance.
"What animal?"
He blushes. "Er.... It's a little embarrasing and it'll probably make your view point of me weird."
As if it isn't already.
"Try me," I say.
"Well, I'm not actually a human," he says.
"Oh really?" I ask, trying to keep my excitement down. "What are you?"
He looks away and mutters, "A cat."
I clear my throat. "What type?"
"Dolor Felis," he responds.
I try not to exclaim. "Oh."
He looks back at me. "Are you judging me?" he jokes.
"Nope," I say. "Just interesting."
Now I'm really mad at Alexander.
Killing a human is fine, up to a certain extent.
But killing my own kind- that's unacceptable.
