MYTHS AND LEGENDS

This Book of Myths and Legends is intended to inform, illuminate, educate, and elucidate. But the trepidatious Reader must proceed with caution. Once the Reader has filled their mind with thoughts of Beasts, the Reader can no longer un-know them. Sometimes, the only safeguard against the shuddersome creatures that stalk this Globe is to utterly deny their existence.

Beast the eighth: The Unicorn.

The Unicorn is, according to those who make it their business to know such things, the most elusive and enigmatic creature of them all.

With golden, cloven hooves, powerful, goat-like legs, shining, pure-white flanks, wild, flying mane, a snowy beard and a shimmering, shard-sharp horn, the Unicorn is the most beautiful, and the most dangerous, of all the world's creatures.

History tells us that Unicorns were once numerous throughout our world. However, in these latter days they seem to have vanished into the wilder of places, and we know very little of them apart from what has been handed down to us in legend.

One of these legends tells us that the Unicorn will thrive in the human world only when the virtues it embodies are made manifest among mankind. There was a time, it is said, when strength, wisdom and power were practiced alongside humility, innocence and purity. But now the rosy dawn of Spring-tide has been swallowed up at the rising of the Noon-day sun, and those sweet days are lost to us forever. The Unicorn wanders no longer in the woods and fields of Men. And perchance it never will again.

According to the ancient tomes of Unicornlore passed down from generation to generation among the Wise, the Unicorn was a peaceful creature, doing harm to none and even, so the legends say, bringing fortune and blessing to those humans lucky enough to see it. However, it was wildly independent, and fought fiercely whenever it's freedom was threatened. Few ever conquered a Unicorn-- few ever dared try. In those days the fear of the Unicorn's rearing legs and spear-like horn was as great as the praise of it's beauty and virtue.

It was whispered then, and still is today among the Learned, that the Unicorn was the Gaurdian of the greatest power of all. This rumor has yet to be confirmed. Still, in the ever-whirling web of tale and intrigue the Unicorn has borne throughout the ages, the mystery of this almighty power has never been dethroned.

Beast the ninth: the rock

Many many years ago,  when the peoples spoke to the wind,  and planted their crops on the clouds, there lived a unhappy man, who had no name.  He lived at the bottom of the lakes that leapt up every night to dance with the wind.  Now the man himself ate fine foods and was richly blessed in the community.   However his mind was on other things.  The rock was waking.  And of course something was going to happen.

But should he care? That was a question the man dared not answer.  Till the fateful day an owl flew through the window and said good-morning.  "You ought to go," she said and with that flew off to commend the wind on a spectacular jig he had done the night before.  Well of course the man went.  He strode through the red river, topped the hundred mountain, and walked the valley of wind,  and then he was there.  A cave lit with a glow that washed the walls with light. The man gazed toward the chambers that may or may not contain a huge bird with the power to squeeze the life out of him......

The man gazed toward the chambers that may or may not contain a huge bird with the power to squeeze the life out of him. Then he heard a lady scream. He grabbed a large rock and ventured into the cave, but instead of seeing a lady in danger he saw a large (scratch that make that huge) bird rise to the ceiling and make a large screamlike screech. Then it spoke. "I am death."

"AGH!" I wake up from a nightmare screaming. I look around, sweating. No monsters, no crystaline dragons, just my Capn'O room.

I cross the room and try not to wake up Anwen, who's sleeping in the spare bed. Then I look out the window and see it... A tiny spec. Something is flying towards the Capn'O building from far off. The spec gets bigger and bigger. What is it!? Probably just Storm coming back to his room from a midnight fly. I yawn, and sit back on my bed.

Then it occurs to me that that's a little strange because I saw a tiny dragon flying towards me in my dream. And it was the same color as the-Oh my gosh.

The Fire Dragons.

The Fire Dragons are believed to be the fiercest of all dragons, and the one to wich was tasked to gaurd virtues with the famed Unicorn. (More on the Unicorns on the page before this one.) One would think this is a strange coupling, since the Fire Dragons are agressive, usually angry, and aren't as wise as either Earth Dragons or Sea Dragons. But the first Fire Dragon, the Power Claaw, (Or was it Wings? It is hard to tell, since the Powers aren't always distinguishable from each other.) did have a tamper, but wasn't as corrupt as the Fire Dragons are today. No one knows exactly what changed the Fire Dragons, but they were never the same after the human 'destroyed' the Powers. Some say that the grief and rage for what the human had done changed the Fire Dragons to think that all humans are corrupt, even though that is not the case today.

But the reason that the Fire Dragons are tasked to gaurd the virtues is that the Fire Dragons decided to protect the virtues that they had lost to honour Claaws. Or perhaps it was that the Fire Dragons have the most potent weapons. Fire Dragons can both breath fire that will only stop destroying when the Fire Dragon wishes it to, and breath pure, cold, elecricity. But only the most skilled Fire Dragons can control the elecricity that it makes. Without concentration, it will destroy everything. Fire dragons's scales are usually a deep, crimson red, with hints of white-blue in them. Never stare directly into a Fire Dragon's eyes, for if it wishes it can hypnotise you, like all other dragons. The Fire Dragons are one of the few magical creatures that are still at large.

Written by Ivy and Viridis.... you'll always need a dragon when it comes to writing about them.

The Realm Outside Kyngdom (enter at your own risk!)

There is a whole 'nother world out there. It is almost the same as Kyndom. But there is one aspect that we hope to never aquire. It is not mystical. There are no morphers, shape-shifters, or elves. There are deffinetly no powers. But there are stories, though no one there belives them. Some say that this world was our beginning.

Hi, its Icy again XD um well... I wanted to say...

She didn't say your name was op.

She meant that the fact that you're a huge, ancient, all-powerful, fire-breathing, epic, evil dragon... Erm, so yeah. Maybe the fact that you can morph in and out of panther form, Zephyra loves you, and we-ell...yeah. Also, maybe the fact that you have cool dragon scales. :P Dragon Scales are cool.

Story Tellers

In the realm outside Kyngdom, people with great story telling live. Although hardly anyone in that world believes the stories, Rumor has it that The story tellers are the people who created this world and its aspects. That's including you and me. Crazy right? But that's the legend about some people that live in the magicless realm.

Fine. Maybe I acted overboard a little bit. But I am not OP. I am involved in no Caption o or any search mission things for BIG, only the Powers. Different people have different parts. Some are a little everywhere. Some are all in one place. See what I'm saying? Plus I didn't come up with my character alone. Others helped me develop it. So...ya. I may seem OP just because I'm involved in only one thing here in Kyndom. But I'm not a spy, or a secret super cool General, or a leader of anything, or a super cool magical Power girl. So...get what I'm saying? And its also really bothering me that I'm the one you choose to pick on Lucy.
