Role Playing Story
Heya, I'm going to try something new in the Inkwell, (Hoping it isn't breaking any rules.) It's called fourm role-playing. Bassically, it's like a story with many different authors. Everyone makes a character in the world, and we take turns posting the story out. There are just a few rules, otherwish you can just jump in.
1. No taking control of other people's characters.
This is common sense, please make sure you stick to controlling your charrie and your charrie only.
2. No making an all powerful charrie.
No making any charries who can destroy an entire city with a clap of their hands, kay? Again, common sense.
3. Have fun!
Self explanitory. ^-^
Let's get this thing started!
Xelix yawned, as he put his feet up on his desk. Another boring day at the Mage's Guild. Another day of deskwork. It was tedious work, having to sit at the desk, day after day, answering all questions applicants had. He had been promised adventure, not a desk job when he applied. He suspected it had to do with his age- 15, in the bigwig's opinion, was too young to go out and defeat the beasts that prowl the land at night. After all, they were only kids, right? Well, this 'kid' was very proficiant in all kinds of water magic, and could easilly knock out an un-prepared foe with a simple swipe of hardened water, which also doubled as a shield against attacks. Still, the pay was decent, and three rectangular meals a day and a place to sleep weren't anything to complain about, so life was pretty good.
He heard a small 'mew' as something brushed against his legs. He smiled at his small calico cat, Ala, who jumped on his lap and began purring cheerfully. "Well, at least one of us is happy....." Xelix yawned, stroking Ala on her head. He glanced upstairs. It was still morning, so most of the mages were still asleep in their rooms, and no one was sitting in front of the fire, (It was mid-winter) and studying some new latest spell. It was quiet, and Xelix liked it that way.

((Thanks, Allison! Yes, I was getting REALLY confused. All the maids' names began with A and they were all trying to learn magic, so I was having a little trouble.
Although I think you forgot Vicemage Lucifer Eggwald... I made him up as a place filler but Rueben developed him (and did a superb job!!), so let me just add that Lucifer Eggwald is the Vicemage (sort of like vice president?) and has a pretty foul temper. He's trying to steal the Archmage's position as... uh... Archmage. (Duh.) Otherwise, thanks again!
Quick P.S. Yeah, TNO and Dmboogie seem to have disappeared from the face of the net, which is kind of bothersome because as far as I know, Alessandra has a couple dates to keep with her A maid friends (social magic-learning groups?), and I sort of put Xeliex in an undesirable situation involving some false accusations (sorry, X!), so unless Starfire, Lena G., and Allison P. would like to pick up with their secret magic learning with Alessandra or somebody (maybe Commander Kip's Archmage??) wants to give Xeliex a trial for treason (and Starfire, Lena, Allison, and Kipin would all have to do a bit of dialogue for Alessandra and Xeliex here) to help get these siblings back up on their feet, we're sort of messed up because the siblings both play pretty prominent roles. So please consider doing that, girls and CK... or else can we please have TNO and Dmboogie back???!))

Um... Sara doesn't begin with an A.
(February 8, 2009 - 6:24 pm)
Were there two more vowel maids, Elwa and Eleena, or were they place fillers?
(February 8, 2009 - 5:39 pm)
Yeah, Eleena was just a place filler. It would have been awkward to introduce the "real maids" that early in the story.
(February 9, 2009 - 8:21 pm)
Sorry to nitpick... but isn't there also a cat named Ala? Was that cat invented for any particular reason (sniffing out the bird boy, maybe?), or was Allison right in not including it?
(February 8, 2009 - 6:06 pm)
Thanks, Allison! I was geting really confused, too. Does anyone else want to be Dmboogie or TNÖ's character? I really wish they could've stayed. :(

Larco was unnaccustomed to the streets of Alointodart. He had been confined to Eggwald's estate for so long that he had forgotten the dangers of the streets, the red-eyed guareds learned in earthmagic. However, he was determined to get to the Mages' Guild in Faerhoven to warn the Archmage abuut the threat to his life. Shivering, he drew his cloak closer to his shoulders, as if it would make him invisable to the guards. Funnily enough, he was not noticed by even the most wary sentinels. Larco was quite relieved when he finally forded the river into Faerhoven.
It was easy to find the Archmage's tower. It was the biggest. LArco ran in, ignoring the bodyguards. His heart skipped when he realized he was at the paneled wood dorr tho the Archmage's study itself! Stealing himself, he knocked.

((Oops! I forgot that Larco already sent a pigeon! My bad. Let's say
Ryma flew off to the forest, and Larco had to go to the Mage's guild
himself. Sorry, everyone. And Commander Kip. I need you to answer the
door so I can save your life!))

Did you get Mexic, Archmage's neice? I don't remember. I made an Elwa, to bring the archmage his breakfast, but someone else filled that with a permanent charrie. I may bring her back, but currently she's still off in the corners of oblivion. I could take over someone's charrie if nobody else wanted to, until they get back. I wonder what happened to them?

Jinni was home, but didn't feel like it. Her skull was numb from disbelief and her heart raw. She had returned home to find her mother dead, cold in her rocker, and her brother confused and sad when his mom wouldn't wake up. She had forced herself to take him to Mrs. McCreedy next door's house, and had given her mother a proper, if hasty, burial. A thousand and one things were on her mind, but the item she was really dwelling on were her father's last words to her before he died of the awful Plague that had claimed her elder brother as well. It was a relapse of this that had been one of the factors of her mother's illnesses.
"Jinni, my love," Dad had said, "I know we've raised you to think scornfully of those with wealth and power. But their power can be used for good... sometimes. I need you to promise me something. When and if your momma ever follows me, and you and Xaviar are left by yourselves, you have to find a nobleman husband. I don't care how you do it- be as beguiling and untruthful as you find necessary, because you've got good judgment, girl. But you'll nedd money, and that's what a wealthy marriage can get you. Promise me? Swear you'll try your hardest, if and when?"
"I swear, Daddy, promise," she'd said at the time, a naive girl of ten. Marriage had been many years into the future... and anyow, Momma wouldn't die; that was ridiculous. But now was the when, the if had happened... so she packed up a knapsack and prepared to ask Mrs. McCreedy a huge favor. Xaviar was not the most well-behaved of urchins.
((P.S. I'm glad Reuben showed up. We needed a couple new characters. But I am a little lost about these countries.... Alcigam and Alnoitidart were my inventions, so let me explain real quick... Alcigam is a city that the Mage rule over, and Alnoitidart is the rival, ruled by king and queen, I guess. I'm assuming that we got a little mixed up, and Rueben thought Alcigam was a country, same with Alnoitidart, and Faerhoven was a town (?) where the Mage live. Good. I like his idea better. So outside of the walls of Faerhoven is the city (town?? village??) where Jinni and her gang live and Xeliex was arrested. Alnoitidart is somewhere over the rainbow at this point. I'm no recalling who made Mexic up, but where did she come from? Did it say and I'm just missing it?
Sorry for being so detasil-obsessed....))
(February 8, 2009 - 5:37 pm)
Actually, if it's okay, Mexic came from an entirely different country. Wasila is south of where she is now. OK?

((I wasn't patient enough to wait for Commander Kip))
The Archmage didn't answer the door. Larco was impatient, and his news was urgent. Without thinking, he pushed the door open and went in. The office was well lit and smelled of incense. The Archmage's desk was laden with quills of different colors and lengths for various incantations. Bookshelves lined ever wall. Larco was carried away by the sheer feeling of being in a room of such power. So carried away, in fact, that he didn't hear footsteps. He turned around. Two leering guards stood there menacingly. One held handcuffs. Larco gulped. This wasn't going to be good.

Tiara listened as the Mages argued at their meeting, trying to find out all she could. Her dream was to to teach, but instead she was stuck as a trainee-mage. Why did she have to learn magic? There were so many things she would rather be, anything... It wasn't as if she was trying to learn magic! But she was a trainee-mage. Shouldn't they be teaching her magic, instead of arguing over gold? She could teach magic better than they, if she knew a little more. Even the servants' life cleaning the manor must be more exciting than this. She practiced sending a small gust of wind from her fingers, just to entertain herself. She knew she should feel priveliged to learn magic, but instead she was bored to tears.

Five hours later: Larco was dragged into a small cell. The sign on the gateread "Awaiting Trial". Such signs were on a row of six cells. Fourwere empty. In the cell next to his was a boy of about 15, Larco's age. Larcodecided to make the best of a bad situation and try to have a normalconversation. "So,what's your name?” he asked.
"Xelix", the youth in the adjacent cell grunted.
"Larco. What are youhere for?" Larco hoped he could glean some helpful information before hewas brought up on trial.
"Some peasant girlaccused me of being a spy from Alointodart. I'm not! I'm just a secretary! I’m'not some Alointodart scum."
Larco was from Alointodartand didn't much like being called scum. However, he figured it would be bestnot to bring that up. Besides, Xelix could come in handy. Boredly, Larcoswung the door open. In his clenched fist was a short piece of wire. He walkedover to Xelix’s cell. “You better be ready to do some running”, Larco smiled.
