Hero/villian ratings!

Hero/villian ratings!

Here is where we post about our heroes and villians, and ask the other Chatterboxers what they would rate them from 1-10, 1 being "A flop" and 10 being "EPICNESS!!!" I'll start. Note: We are not allowed to rate our own heroes and villians, since we are almost certainly biased enough to give them 10.

HERO

Name: Kartani.

Age: 10.

Mission: To save the Land of Waterfalls, a land of cliffs and waterfalls where large numbers of wolves reside in safety, from The Disaster.

Allies: She has a lot of 'em. :S I will name the most important four. Rolford-her friend since she was a baby, also a wolf-heart; Satyiyi-a water nymph princess; Starspirit-an extremely mischievous spellwolf (the wolf equivalent of a wizard); and Nightsong-Kartani's wolf friend.

Special powers: Can turn into a gray wolf at will, and thus has enhanced hearing and smell. Can speak with animals.

Personality-Slightly aloof and wary, but friendly once you get to know her. Willing to do anything for her friends. Slightly hot-tempered and impatient.

Physical appearance: As a human: Long black hair, dark blue eyes with flecks of gold, tanned skin. As a wolf: Large, gray fur, golden eyes.

History: Both her parents were wolf-hearts, but died when she was eight months, so she grew up in an orphanage knowing nothing of her origins. One night she was told by Nightsong that her destiny was to save the Land of Waterfalls-and that's how she ended up going on a journey.

Other names: Wolf name: Gara (means loner in Karen, the language of the wolf gods); The One (in an ancient prophecy foretelling The Disaster).

VILLIAN

Name: Wackler.

Age: Um...never thought about it...about 40.

Mission: To stop Kartani from saving the Land of Waterfalls and capture Starspirit.

Allies: Minions, in this case, would be a more accurate term. Anyway, his minions are an army of cougar-hearts, humans who can turn into cougars.

Special powers: Almost the same as Kartani, except for being able to turn ino a cougar.

Personality: Greedy, cunning, sinister, ruthless, and cruel.

Physical appearance: As a human: Short, fat, and balding, with gray eyes. As a cougar: Huge and powerful, with tanned fur and bright amber eyes.

History: How should I know? Heh heh. But I do know that he murdered Kartani's parents, without knowing that they had children.

Other names: Cougar name: Tarag (don't ask me what it means, I'm not really developing the cougar god language at the moment), Terror of the South (earned after numerous terrible deeds done as a cougar).

So? Ratings? Please?

Here are a couple more rules: 1. You may post as many hero/villian pairs, but one at a time, please. 2. The hero and the villian must be involved in the same story.

Erin: 5

Zotnoke: 8. I like villains with specific goals other than all-out world domination, and interesting history. :)

@Charlotte: Erin: 6, Zotnoke: 7. He sounds interesting, and I have this thing for wolves, as you could probably tell.

Wolfgirl: I'd give Kartani a 6/10 because she feels a wee bit Sueish; Wackler, 4/10 because he sounds... flat to me.

Emily: Corelle, 7/10, probably a bit biased because I'm not really a nice!Fairy person (bring on the Lords and Ladies, even if they are terrifying); Dracea, also 7/10 because she sounds quite interesting and well-thought out, but again I am biased.

ZNZ: Mooort! 9/10, because from what I've read of his exerts he's exactly what I'd want in a parody of Chosen One plots, also because I love the name Mort.

Charlotte: Erin: 6/10, largely because she's bordering on Anti Sue as most of her personality appears to be negative; Zotnoke, 5/10 because why does he want revenge?

Aaand now it's my turn. Don't be afraid to be mean, I'm impervious *tempts Fate*

OUR HERO (er, Anti Villain!):

Name: Tristan Acker/Adler (One day I will decide on which surname I like better, and then I will bloody well stick with it.)

Age: Approximately 16

Mission: Take over the world as soon as possible, and then fix everything.

Allies: Nick, an abrasive, pyromaniacal, slightly depressed possibly-girlfriend who works with Tristan at the local retirement shelter; Alice, who is possibly schizophrenic or else just telepathic; Titus, by virtue of being Alice's imaginary friend; and of course his loving and supportive family. Oh yes, and his choir director, mainly on principle of "he's such a brilliant tenor, how could he possibly be evil?"

Special powers: He doesn't have any, except intelligence enough to build a supercomputer in his attic.

Personality: He's a star student, star singer, and volunteers at not only the retirement center but also the homeless shelter and the library. And he never misses his little brother's soccer games and he helps his sister with her math homework and boy issues (middle school, hormones, you know the drill). He intends to be and in many ways already is the ultimate Villain With Good Publicity. He has read the Evil Overlord list. This should tell you more or less everything you need to know.

Appearance: Medium height, ginger, and moderately scruffy in a non-threatening kind of way.

History: He's spotless, never having gotten so much as a warning for speeding.

OUR VILLAIN:

Is quite the ambiguous fellow. He's tall, dresses all in white, wears dark sunglasses at all time, and talks like an encyclopedia. No one knows his name. Alice insists that he's Nightmare who escaped into the physical realm, but everyone else thinks that's probably just the schizophrenia acting up.

Special powers: Has an alarming tendency to show up at the worst possible times for our hero or his friends. May or may not be able to teleport, Tristan is skeptical but strange things tend to happen in Ashfall* so who knows.

Allies: The entirety of the school administration with the exception of the choir director, even if they don't know it and aren't actively doing his bidding at the present time.

Mission: To stop Tristan from succeeding, ostensibly because it's the Right Thing To Do but Nick and Tristan have a theory that it's really because HE wants to be the one to finally succeed at that whole global domination thing.

Personality: Our hero hasn't seen much of it other than a tendency to be inhumanly calm and collected all the time, but when he isn't trying to quash our hero beneath the sole of his perfectly shiny white boot, he's something of a hedonist. Oh yes, and he owns several orphanages and two sanitariums, and is viciously protective of his numerous charges: They are people, victims of circumstance who have the same rights and privileges as anyone else, and if our villain finds out that anyone has tried to subvert those rights for any reason he will use his various connections to ruin them (but not kill, never kill, because apparently it's against his moral code).

So. Ratings! Hooray!

*Ashfall is the default setting for urban fantasy taking place in the U.S. or a reasonable facsimile thereof. It's dreary, downtrodden, and the sort of town that is usually described as "tired" or "worn-out".

Iiiiinteresting. So, I'd say your hero and villian are both half-evil half-good, just the opposite halves are evil and good.

Tristan Ackler: 7?

Villain person: 9. Sounds quite interesting to read about. I hate boring villains.

(By the way, I would hardly call them "nice" faeries, the very idea of "nice" faeries exudes Sue-ness. They are fierce, warlike faeries. They do not have wands, tiaras, or fairy dust.)

TNÖ: Nines. For both of them. They are both SUPER CREEPY (in a good way -- I want to read about them!).

Erm.. anti sue?

Tristan Acker/Adler: 7/10, he's seems interesting.  And weird...

Your Villian: 8/10, pretty much ditto.

Think like a Mary Sue turned inside out.

@Emily: By "nice" I meant the kind that don't go around kidnapping children and maiming/toying with adults and generally terrorizing humanity (think Discworld!elves). Fierce and warlike is good though. Also, I am a big believer in, at best, Grey and Grey Morality (running to Black and Grey in my more... cynical stories). No one is all good or all bad.

You have a very... broad definition of "nice", TNÖ. XD I haven't come across any elves in Discworld yet -- they're in Lords and Ladies, right? I want to read that one sometime soon.

I personally like the technologically-advanced fairies and elves of Artemis Fowl, with computers and guns and things.

Well, yes indeed... of course my good characters have brushes with bad-ness and maybe even vice versa... But I think the best character in my story is probably Celeste.

Celeste joined the Dark Faeries as sort of a young misfit who thought they appreciated her. But when the Dark Faeries seceded she reallized she didn't like what they were doing, and decided she wanted to go back to the Light Faeries. Dracea wouldn't let her, and decided to make her a slave instead. But eventually everyone got jealous of her, because the Dark Faeries' wings were starting turn dark. (Hate affects faeries in that way.) One day when Celeste was helping Dracea pick out an outfit she made an ill-suited remark about how a certain dress no longer matched her wings, and Dracea got mad. And now Celeste is the only Faerie... without wings. So now Celeste wants nothing more than to murder Dracea. So she's my major good/bad character in the story.

Yes, Zotnoke's revenge.  The humans are forcing away their land and killing off the wolves, typical, but mostly because they killed his parents and all of his siblings but Lillilita.

@TNO: Whoa, interesting hero/villian. I'm inclined to give them both seven 1/2. BTW, I like Adler better than Ackler.

Six and five, respectively. Also, give Zphxia a name pronounceable by ordinary humans, okay? It's crying out for an extra vowel, can't you see?

@Kat: 6 3/4 for both of them. I would give them seven, but their names are a bit long and involved.
