Magic Wolf RP

Magic Wolf RP

Magic Wolf RP

Long ago and far away, magic dominated a golden land; the magic of three groups of proud wolves, who lived together in peace and friendship. There were the Halite Wolves, rulers of the ice. There were the Fern Wolves, rulers of the forest. And there were the Shadow Wolves, who possessed the uncertain powers of the night. They were like three siblings, sharing what they had, sharing their lives.

But thunder was building up in the mountains. Flashes of warning lightning were already flickering over the packs. A storm was coming, possibly more than one, that could split the wolves apart, or possibly keep them together. The Shadow Wolves were darker than the other wolves and undisputedly different, and the packs cast them out. The gray wolves fled, and the other wolves were rid of them, waiting for daybreak.

But the shadows are known to keep away daybreak. There was still a vague threat in the thunder clouding the sky.

The Shadow Wolves would return.

The storm was not yet over.

~RP Guide~

-Animal Characteristics-

Wolves:

None of the wolves hunt animals for meat. All wolves, eagles, and foxes have the same language.

-Fern Wolves

The Fern Wolves have brown fur and live in the forest, which supplies them with everything they need. They eat ferns, mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, and nuts which they forage for, and which they trade to the Halite Wolves (see Trading). They also make potions from forest plants, which are generally used to help them gain health or strength. They live in dens, which they hide with ferns; this used to be because of the vulnerability of their cubs, but they continue doing it despite no longer needing to.

-Halite Wolves

The Halite Wolves have white fur and live in the tundra. They construct palaces and dwellings of ice using their magic (see Special Powers). They eat the same food as the Fern Wolves (see Trading).

-Shadow Wolves

The Shadow Wolves have gray fur, and live in the tundra and the forest, as part of Celandine and Moondrop's packs. Except for having different magic and different-colored fur, they aren't noticeably different from the other wolves.

Eagles:

-Fern Eagles

They have brown and white feathers, and live close to the Fern Wolves. They have the same magic as the Fern Wolves, and are friendly with them, helping them in small ways (e.g. transporting materials for them).

-Halite Eagles

They have white feathers, and live among the Halite Wolves, sharing their magic. They also help each other (e.g. the eagles transport materials and help to watch over wolf cubs).

-Shadow Eagles

They have dark and white feathers, and live in the mountains, sharing the Shadow Wolves' magic. Each Shadow Eagle is telepathically linked to a Shadow Wolf (see Telepathy), and are their constant allies.

Foxes:

Red foxes have red fur and live in the forest, while Arctic foxes have white fur and live in the tundra. They aren't enemies of the Fern and Halite Wolves, but don't think of themselves as their helpers or allies either. However, they may be able to give the wolves valuable help later in the RP.

-History-

Once, the Shadow Wolves lived as part of the two other packs. However, they plotted against the other wolves, and when their plan was discovered they were exiled to the mountains. For years they stayed there, but at long last the Fern and Halite Wolves forgot what had happened, and the Shadow Wolves gradually returned. At the present time, no one - except the Shadow Wolves - remember that the Shadow Wolves were ever separate from the other two packs. The Shadow Wolves, however, are still bitter about it.

-Some Important Worldbuilding Notes to Read-

-General Geography

From north to south, the world consists of the tundra where Halite Wolves, Halite Eagles, Arctic Foxes, and some Shadow Wolves live, the mountains where the Shadow Eagles live (and later in the RP, the Shadow Wolves) live, and the forest where Fern Wolves, Fern Eagles, Red Foxes, and some Shadow Wolves live.

-Wolf and Animal Organization

The two main packs are the Halite and Fern Wolves/Eagles/Foxes, who are led by Moondrop and Celandine and their eagles, respectively. The Shadow Wolves live scattered among these two packs and don’t have a leader. Eventually, they will (see Rules and Guidelines for more).

-Magic

-Power Sources

A Power Source is a special object that gives magical powers to any animal who uses it. The Fern Power Source is a rare flower, the Halite Power Source is a special halite crystal, and the Shadow Power Source is a piece of obsidian. There is one Power Source for each pack as well as useless decoys of it. These are all guarded carefully (See Rules, Guidelines, and Role-Playing Info).

-Powers

All animals can turn invisible for a short time and teleport. Wolves, and sometimes eagles and foxes as well, receive special plant, weather, or shadow powers from their pack’s Power Source. Plant magic includes growth, destruction, or plant-potion powers. An example of this is the ability to cause a tree to bear another kind of fruit besides its own. Weather magic includes manipulating water, weather, and snow. An example of this is the ability to cause a certain type of cloud to appear or disappear. Shadow magic includes manipulating rocks and stone, and camouflaging in shadows. An example of this is the ability to temporarily blind an animal by throwing a shadow over their eyes. No animal has all the plant, weather, or shadow magic possible. If they use their powers too much and run out, they will not be able to use magic until they receive more from their pack’s Power Source.

-Special Powers

-If any Halite Wolf sets aside their magic for two days, they are able to build buildings made of ice. Three Fern Wolves do not have plant magic. They are seers instead and can see the future.

-Telepathy

Each Wolf is able to communicate telepathically with the Eagle of their element who was born on the same day as them. However, only the Shadow Wolves and Shadow Eagles know they can do this. The others have not discovered this trick yet.

-Trading

-Food is scarce in the tundra, so the Halite Wolves trade salt (halite) to the Fern Wolves in exchange for food.

-Rules, Guidelines, and Role-Playing Info-

1. No OP charries, please. If your charrie has all, for example, shadow-related magic, we will ask you to choose one specialty.

2. Please don't control other CBer's charries too much!

3. For each Wolf charrie you make, you must make an Eagle charrie who is the same age and the same element.

4. There are only three Fern Wolves who are seers and can see the future. They don't have any other magic.

5. There isn't a Shadow Wolf leader yet. If you have an active Shadow Wolf charrie, we will likely ask you to lead.

6. We are two CBers writing under pen names. Feel free to guess us!

7. If you have any questions, we suggest reading through everything we wrote above. If you still have questions after that, please ask us.

Hi guys! Apologies for dropping off the face of the earth - these past few weeks have been way busier than anticipated. Anyway, update - Celandine is even busier than I am, so I'm creating an official Fern Wolf charrie to keep things going in the forest. Here's the form:

Name of charrie: Irivia

Age: 17 in human years

Pronouns: she/her

Pack: Celandine's, a Fern Wolf

Personality: Bubbly, a bit head-in-the-cloud-ish, thinks that there's room for improvement in everything (though in a positive way, not in an "everything's awful and should be fixed" way), always wants to make new friends, is slightly bossy but well-meaning; secretly, she's dissatisfied with the stable position of the Fern Wolves and craves excitement and adventure.

Appearance: Golden-brown fur, green eyes, small and lithe, moves with endless energy

Magic (one speciality of their
element such as causing rainclouds to gather, or if they are a Seer,
fortune telling, in which case their element power cannot be very
powerful): Has mild power over thunderstorms, and can cause a few flowers to be pollinated in the absence of bees

Fears/Insecurities: She's afraid of coming across as obnoxious or too strident to other wolves; she also feels like she's never moving ahead. She's unsure of her ideals and plans, in that she has them but isn't sure if they're the right ones or what she really wants.

Assertive, Aggressive, Passive, or Passive-Aggressive: Assertive!

Background: She grew up with the Fern Wolves; her father (no longer alive) was the brother of the wolf who led the Fern Wolves before Celandine, while her mother (still alive) is half Halite Wolf. Irivia's always been carefree, without much to worry about, and not really caring about her position in the pack; however, she's been slowly gaining recognition through her impressive foraging skills.

Shipping: Open, maybe, to a very specific type of male wolf

Other: n/a

Eagle:

Name: Sunflight

Age (same age as your wolf charrie): 17

Pronouns: he/him

Kind (Fern, Halite, or Shadow): Fern

Telepathic link (if eagle): Irivia

Other: Sunflight shares Irivia's bouncy enthusiasm, and at the same time has a propensity for mischief, so the two of them share everything and link up well. Sunflight also has a more philosophical side, which keeps Irivia's carefree nature in check.

<Moondrop>

Again, something - unseen, unknown - seemed to hang in the air. Moondrop shook it off - she had to be imagining it.

Then a voice half-penetrated the crisp air, scarcely audible. Lunarmist turned her head in its direction. "Is that Alabaster?"

Moondrop tilted her head, trying to sift some sort of scent out of the snow. The only trouble about life in the tundra was that smells were continually being lost. "I think it is," she said. One of the wolves had told her that he was in this area, and there did seem to be a slight scent of him in the air. She pricked her ears forward. "Alabaster! We're over here." Perhaps he'd have some news, some bit of information he'd picked up that would help them with their hunt.

+Irivia+

Irivia could smell water on the air, and excitement. Sunflight, soaring in low loops above her, swept by her head in a flurry of feathers and called out, "There's a commotion down by the stream. We were heading that way, I think?"

Irivia shook her head at him, but she could sense a smile coming on. "All right, we'll go over there. But if anything happens, it's your responsibility."

"Agreed," Sunflight said perkily, and Irivia had to quicken her pace to keep up with him. A few more paces, and they were out by the stream.

Wet wolves, wet eagles, wet fox. Irivia took a step back, unsure what was going on. Maybe the stream had suddenly turned into a geyser. And if there was one thing she did not like, it was getting wet. Meanwhile, Sunflight (of course) had no such qualms, and had landed on a low branch of a tree overhanging the water. "I have a questionnaire regarding the current situation if anyone's interested," he called. "Including, why is the leader of the Fern Wolves wet and what does she have to say about it??"

There were already about twenty different conversations going on, but if Sunflight was going into journalism Irivia imagined she might as well join in. "Hi," she said, aiming for the casual as she slipped forward from the trees. "Are things all right here?"

Alabaster gets very nervous around wolves who are older than him.

o Alabaster o

“Alabaster!” someone called. “We’re over here!”

Oh, perhaps he had recognized somebody.

Alabaster trotted in the direction of the voice and saw Lunarmist and an eagle.

“Good morning!” he shouted. “How are you—?”

Snow piled around his paws as he stopped. There was the Halite Wolf leader, and here he was, greeting Lunarmist before her.

“Oh!” he said, more quietly. “I’m sorry; I didn’t see you there before, uh…” Did she have a title? He had no idea. “Good morning. Sorry to disturb your uh…what do you prefer to be called?”

I'm sorry for my long absence! I'm back now, though, and I'm hoping to post responses more regularly in the future. Also, update: Irivia is actually being mentored by Celandine to be the next leader of the Fern Wolves, and she's already beginning to take charge of a few pack responsibilities.

<Moondrop>

Alabaster came in sight, moving confidently over the snow. "Good morning!" he called to them, looking at Lunarmist. "How are you—?"

He stopped short. "Oh! I'm sorry; I didn't see you there before, uh..." He paused again. "Good morning. Sorry to disturb your uh...what do you prefer to be called?"

Moondrop struggled to keep back a smile, wondering what one was supposed to do in a situation like this. "I prefer Moondrop," she said. "On formal occasions I'm Halite Leader, but that isn't necessary right now." She paused, or hesitated, and pricked her ears towards him. "Just remember to look before you leap," she cautioned gently. "Maybe not in this situation, but in general, who knows? Never mind, it's good to see you. Where were you heading?"

^Lavender^

Lavender felt amused by all the chaos that was happening by the river. It helped lighten her mood and take her mind off of being a Seer and all the ominous prophecies that came with it. Soon, she noticed (or really, Allium told her in a whisper, with his sharp eyesight) Irivia, likely future Fern Wolf leader, and Sunflight, her eagle companion.

"I have a questionnaire regarding the current situation if anyone's interested," Sunflight called. "Including, why is the leader of the Fern Wolves wet and what does she have to say about it?"

"Hi," Irivia said casually, slipping from the trees. "Are things all right here?"

"I suppose," Lavender replied, and added in a humorous tone, "besides the chaos and the fact that we have a new addition of mud to all our fur."

)Lunarmist(

“Good morning!” Alabaster called. “How are you—?”

He stopped when he appeared to notice Moondrop. Oh! I'm sorry; I didn't see you there before, uh...good morning. Sorry to disturb your uh...what do you prefer to be called?"

Oh, Alabaster, Evening said telepathically in an amused voice.

"I prefer Moondrop," the Halite Leader, or she supposed Moondrop, said.

Lunarmist waited attentively for Alabaster's reply.

(she doesn't speak here I suppose but I just wanted to get this pov out there)

@Moon Wolf, Yes, all animals speak the same language, and eagles can verbally (and telepathically if they’re a Shadow Eagle) communicate with wolves

Oh dear…this RP got very muddy all of the sudden…and so much dialogue to cover… *pants* Sorry for not posting very much!

Celandine

“WAIT---DON’T” Celandine heard an eagle shout. Some instinct inside her told her to stop, but what kind of an alpha would she be if she did?

She ran forward, just in time to collide with long sprays of mud and water. Her first thought was that some wolf pups had gotten into a fight, but when she stepped back, away from the glare of the sun, she saw that Acorn had just been shaking mud.

She was about to laugh when she saw the frustrated expression on the faces of Oak and Perennial.

“Greetings Celandine!” Lavender and her eagle Allium called to her.

“Good morning, Lavender,” Celandine said. “Good morning, Allium.” She turned her head towards Acorn, who was listening to the fox (Glorywind! Yes, that was his name).

“I’m wet,” he was explaining. “To state the obvious, I know…and probably not a surprise, since everyone here is more or less wet. How’re you?”

“Acorn,” Celandine began, “Could you please—“

“I have a questionnaire regarding the current situation if anyone’s interested,” Sunflight called, suddenly appearing on a branch by the stream. “Including, why is the leader of the Fern Wolves wet and what does she have to say about it??”

Irivia walked toward the center, by the stream. “Hi, are things all right here?” she asked.

“I suppose,” Lavender said cheerfully, “besides the chaos and the fact that we have a new addition of mud to all our fur.”

“No,” Perennial snapped at the same time. “Some of us would appreciate it if this—“

“Gently, Perennial,” Celandine interrupted quickly. If there was one thing she knew about Perennial after 36 years, it was that when he was annoyed, he was angry, and when he was angry, he was reckless. “Acorn was playing, and that just got a little messy. Nothing serious.” She turned towards Acorn. Many of us would appreciate it if you could play more quietly, so we can all enjoy the stream. Can you do that?”

/Perennial\

“Hey Acorn! How’s the water?” he heard Lavender say.

Acorn snapped to attention and shook herself off.  “It’s really nice,” she said. “Hi Lavender! Hi Allium! What are you doing by the stream? And why are you two all wet?”

Perennial ducked his head underwater quickly—both to keep himself from laughing out loud (why was everyone wet? Really?) and to get back to work. He’d just gotten a hold on a particularly stubborn weed, when a brownish-red shape (aha. Acorn.) came rolling towards him. He pulled his head out again quickly.

“Acorn, don’t do that,” he heard Oak say, as she laughed. “When you shake again—and you know you will—you’ll splatter mud on everyone!”

“Don’t trip on the plants in the water,” Perennial warned. “I haven’t pulled them out yet.”

Acorn just laughed…and tripped on the plants. Predictably, he thought, flinching at the splash.

When he looked up again, Acorn was (also predictably) shaking mud off of herself. Oak had fled to a tree, with Allium following close behind.

Perennial ruffled his feathers, then smoothed them again. Would someone tell this wolf to—

“Hey Glory!” he heard her say, to a red fox walking towards the stream. “How are you?”

She started running towards the fox, her tail wagging.

Oak shouted, “WAIT DON’T—-“

Perennial tried to swerve out of the way, but Acorn had already started shaking again.

And at that very moment Celandine appeared in the clearing.

“Greetings Celandine!” Lavender and Allium called to her.

“Good morning,” she returned absently, glancing briefly at Perennial, then at Oak, with a glint of laughter in her eyes, then at Acorn and Glorywind.

“I’m wet,” the fox was explaining. “To state the obvious, I know…and probably not a surprise, since everyone here is more or less wet. How’re you?”

“Acorn,” Celandine interrupted gently, “Could you please—“

“I have a questionnaire regarding the current situation if anyone’s interested,” Sunflight called, landing on a branch nearby. “Including, why is the leader of the Fern Wolves wet and what does she have to say about it??”

Later, Perennial thought crossly.

Irivia walked toward the center, by the stream. “Hi, are things all right here?” she asked.

“No,” he snapped, pulling himself up to his full height and looking very sternly towards Acorn. “Some of us would appreciate it if this—“

“Gently, Perennial,” Celandine reminded him sharply.

He shut his beak.

“Acorn was playing, and that just got a little messy,” she continued. “Nothing serious.”

Oh, a little? Fine, Celandine. A little. Perennial picked at his feathers. Ugh. The mud hadn’t dried yet.

She looked towards Acorn. “Many of us would appreciate it if you could play more quietly, so we can all enjoy the stream. Can you do that?”

Wow... seeing it all written out. Thank you, seriously, @Celandine for cleaning that all up :)

>Acorn<

Acorn tucked her tail between her legs and ducked her head as everyone stared at her. Please, let me become a tree, a rock, anything inanimate and ordinary and nothing of note, she thought. Oh, why can't I just grow up like Oak is always telling me to do?

“I’m wet,” Glory replied. “To state the obvious, I know… and probably not a surprise, since everyone here is more or less wet. How’re you?”

“Acorn,” Celandine started, “Could you please—“

“I have a questionnaire regarding the current situation if anyone’s interested,” Sunflight, an eagle, said, alighting on a branch. “Including, why is the leader of the Fern Wolves wet and what does she have to say about it??”

Irivia, Sunflight's wolf, slipped out of the forest. “Hi, are things all right here?” she asked. No, not more of the pack here to witness Acorn's humiliation!

“I suppose,” Lavender said, “besides the chaos and the fact that we have a new addition of mud to all our fur.” No, this was going all wrong!

“No,” Perennial snapped, as if echoing Acorn's thought. “Some of us would appreciate it if this—“

“Gently, Perennial,” Celandine interrupted. “Acorn was playing, and that just got a little messy. Nothing serious.” She turned towards Acorn. Many of us would appreciate it if you could play more quietly, so we can all enjoy the stream. Can you do that?”

Acorn hated being admonished, even if it was done nicely. She quivered, hanging her head farther down. Oh, she hoped this wouldn't get back to her parents! She felt Oak's talons grip into her back, and she wagged her tail gratefully. At least she knew that she could always count on Oak. "Of course, ma'am," she said. "Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am." Everyone hates me.

-Oak-

Seriously! Why were so many creatures at this exact spot at this exact stream at this exact time?? Oak would've found it funny if Acorn didn't look absolutely mortified (haha, look at me, coming up with all these synonyms for "embarrassed"! I keep meaning to write "embarrassed" but then my brain's like, I know what word will fit better here! and there go my fingers tip-tapping before I can... okay, tangent, yes ;) ). Actually, Oak still did find it funny, but he held back his laugh. He landed on Acorn's back, squeezing her fur gently with his talons, trying to communicate that he was here for her. She gave a tiny wag of appreciation.

"Of course, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am." Acorn said deferentially, and Oak hung his head, too. He felt he had to take some responsibility for the fact that everyone was soaking wet and muddy.

"We promise it won't happen again, and our sincere apologies to everyone who got wet," he said, speaking for both Acorn and himself. He knew Acorn would be sulky for the rest of the day. She hated getting in trouble, but he thought that it did her good. She was so impulsive---she should suffer some consequences for her actions and learn from her mistakes. They were both still young yet. Of course, Acorn didn't really learn from her mistakes...

It's been ages since I posted, sorry :/ And @Celandine, as Celine said, tysm for consolidating all the conversations! It's super helpful :)

\Glory\

The next few minutes were chaos, with wolves and eagles appearing everywhere. How big can the Fern pack be? Glory wondered sardonically. Everyone was answering everyone, about half the creatures present were wet (including him - why hadn't he stayed away??), and it seemed like thirty conversations were going on at the same time.

Finally, Celandine managed to intervene. "Gently, Perennial," she said to one of the crossest eagles present. "Acorn was playing, and that just got a little messy. Nothing serious. Many of us would appreciate it if you could play more quietly," she added to Acorn, "so we can all enjoy the stream." Quietly wasn't quite the word, Glory felt - dryly would be more like it - but he didn't say anything. "Can you do that?" Celandine asked.

"Of course, ma'am," Acorn said guiltily. "Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am."

"We promise it won't happen again, and our sincere apologies to everyone who got wet," Acorn's eagle added - Oak or whatever he was called. Glory was terrible at remembering names.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but water will never hurt me," Glory quoted with a flash of humour; Acorn looked extremely dejected, and after all, part of it had been bad luck. "On the other hand, they don't make me dry again either."

@Allium@

“No,” Perennial snapped, and Allium glanced meaningfully over at Lavender, who luckily seemed to understand that she had said the wrong thing. “Some of us would appreciate it if this—“

Celandine managed to intervene, and said, "Gently, Perennial. Acorn was playing, and that just got a little messy. Nothing serious. Many of us would appreciate it if you could play more quietly," she said to Acorn, "so we can all enjoy the stream. Can you do that?" Celandine asked.

"Of course, ma'am," Acorn replied, sounding guilty. "Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am." Allium felt sympathetic---after all, she didn't mean it, especially not for the whole pack to see.

"We promise it won't happen again, and our sincere apologies to everyone who got wet," Oak added.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but water will never hurt me," Glory commented. "On the other hand, they don't make me dry again either."

Allium nodded at the wisdom and touch of humor from Glory. "We know that you didn't mean it, Acorn. After all, the stream is a place to relax and have fun." Quietly, he wanted to add, but didn't since Celandine had already reprimanded Acorn. Changing the topic, he said, "Is there anything interesting happening lately among the Packs? Any new flower species or something like that?"

+Irivia+

"No," Perennial told her angrily, a bundle of indignant, wet feathers glaring at Acorn. "Some of us would appreciate it if this—"

"Gently, Perennial," Celandine warned him. "Acorn was playing, and that just got a little messy. Nothing serious." She looked at Acorn. "Many of us would appreciate it if you could play more quietly, so we can all enjoy the stream. Can you do that?"

For a moment admiration rose up in Irivia. It was in times like these that she wondered if she could ever be a good leader of the Fern Wolves, because how could she ever cope with a situation like this as Celandine was able to? The alpha was her idol, kind, balanced, able to deal with anything that was thown her way.

Then she looked at Acorn again, and noticed that the young wolf was looking dejected and unhappy. "Of course, ma'am," she was saying. "Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am."

"We promise it won't happen again, and our sincere apologies to everyone who got wet," Oak contributed, also looking ashamed.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but water will never hurt me," the fox told everyone gaily. "On the other hand, they don't make me dry again either."

Oh sheesh, Irivia thought, but before she could chip in Allium was doing it for her. "We know that you didn't mean it, Acorn," he said kindly. "After all, the stream is a place to relax and have fun. Is there anything interesting happening lately among the Packs? Any new flower species or something like that?"

Irivia caught Acorn's eye and winked; look at all these important wolves, and that pompous fox, dripping wet and muddy. Good work, to be honest. She wasn't the lead wolf yet, anyhow, and wasn't there something hilarious about the whole situation? "I believe one of the seers discovered some new properties of riun flowers," she offered, inclining her head towards Celandine for confirmation.

@Celine and Amethyst, you’re welcome! Glad it was helpful :)

@Moondrop/Irivia, are the riun flowers the Fern Power Source or are they some other flower? (I can't remember if we named the Power Source or not)

Celandine

Acorn lowered her head, and Oak, landing on her back, followed suit. “Of course, ma’am,” she said. “Yes, ma’am. I’m sorry, ma’am.”

“We promise it won’t happen again,” Oak added, “and our sincere apologies to everyone who got wet.”

“No need to worry about it,” Celandine told them. For a moment, she worried (hm. ironic) if it had been the right idea to correct Acorn. One expected mud by a stream, after all…

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but water will never hurt me,” Glorywind said somewhat amusedly. “On the other hand, they don’t make me dry again either.”

“We know that you didn’t mean it, Acorn,” Allium chimed in kindly. “After all, the stream is a place to relax and have fun.” He addressed the other animals. “Is there anything interesting happening lately among the Packs? Any new flower species or something like that?”

“I believe one of the seers discovered some new properties of riun flowers,” Irivia suggested, glancing at Celandine.

“I’ve heard,” Celandine said. “Who?” She directed her gaze towards Lavender (who probably knew regardless if she was the seer or not) before realizing she shouldn’t put her on the spot and directing it back to Irivia again.

Acorn ducked her head in humiliation. “Of course, ma’am. Yes, ma’am. I’m sorry, ma’am.”

“We promise it won’t happen again, and our sincere apologies to everyone who got wet,” Oak added. Very responsible of him.

“No need to worry about it,” he heard Celandine say. He envied her patience.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but water will never hurt me,” Glory said, seeming as composed as ever. “On the other hand, they don’t make me dry again either.”

True. And witty.

Now that Perennial thought of it, he’d made more fuss out of this than he should have had.

Oh well…

“We know that you didn’t mean it, Acorn,” Allium said. “After all, the stream is a place to relax and have fun. Is there anything interesting happening lately among the Packs? Any new flower species or something like that?”

Perennial flapped his wings once. Good, Allium, he thought. We needed a new topic.

“I believe one of the seers discovered some new properties of riun flowers,” Irivia said, glancing at Celandine.

“I’ve heard,” she said. “Who?”
