Magic Wolf RP

Magic Wolf RP

Magic Wolf RP

Long ago and far away, magic dominated a golden land; the magic of three groups of proud wolves, who lived together in peace and friendship. There were the Halite Wolves, rulers of the ice. There were the Fern Wolves, rulers of the forest. And there were the Shadow Wolves, who possessed the uncertain powers of the night. They were like three siblings, sharing what they had, sharing their lives.

But thunder was building up in the mountains. Flashes of warning lightning were already flickering over the packs. A storm was coming, possibly more than one, that could split the wolves apart, or possibly keep them together. The Shadow Wolves were darker than the other wolves and undisputedly different, and the packs cast them out. The gray wolves fled, and the other wolves were rid of them, waiting for daybreak.

But the shadows are known to keep away daybreak. There was still a vague threat in the thunder clouding the sky.

The Shadow Wolves would return.

The storm was not yet over.

~RP Guide~

-Animal Characteristics-

Wolves:

None of the wolves hunt animals for meat. All wolves, eagles, and foxes have the same language.

-Fern Wolves

The Fern Wolves have brown fur and live in the forest, which supplies them with everything they need. They eat ferns, mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, and nuts which they forage for, and which they trade to the Halite Wolves (see Trading). They also make potions from forest plants, which are generally used to help them gain health or strength. They live in dens, which they hide with ferns; this used to be because of the vulnerability of their cubs, but they continue doing it despite no longer needing to.

-Halite Wolves

The Halite Wolves have white fur and live in the tundra. They construct palaces and dwellings of ice using their magic (see Special Powers). They eat the same food as the Fern Wolves (see Trading).

-Shadow Wolves

The Shadow Wolves have gray fur, and live in the tundra and the forest, as part of Celandine and Moondrop's packs. Except for having different magic and different-colored fur, they aren't noticeably different from the other wolves.

Eagles:

-Fern Eagles

They have brown and white feathers, and live close to the Fern Wolves. They have the same magic as the Fern Wolves, and are friendly with them, helping them in small ways (e.g. transporting materials for them).

-Halite Eagles

They have white feathers, and live among the Halite Wolves, sharing their magic. They also help each other (e.g. the eagles transport materials and help to watch over wolf cubs).

-Shadow Eagles

They have dark and white feathers, and live in the mountains, sharing the Shadow Wolves' magic. Each Shadow Eagle is telepathically linked to a Shadow Wolf (see Telepathy), and are their constant allies.

Foxes:

Red foxes have red fur and live in the forest, while Arctic foxes have white fur and live in the tundra. They aren't enemies of the Fern and Halite Wolves, but don't think of themselves as their helpers or allies either. However, they may be able to give the wolves valuable help later in the RP.

-History-

Once, the Shadow Wolves lived as part of the two other packs. However, they plotted against the other wolves, and when their plan was discovered they were exiled to the mountains. For years they stayed there, but at long last the Fern and Halite Wolves forgot what had happened, and the Shadow Wolves gradually returned. At the present time, no one - except the Shadow Wolves - remember that the Shadow Wolves were ever separate from the other two packs. The Shadow Wolves, however, are still bitter about it.

-Some Important Worldbuilding Notes to Read-

-General Geography

From north to south, the world consists of the tundra where Halite Wolves, Halite Eagles, Arctic Foxes, and some Shadow Wolves live, the mountains where the Shadow Eagles live (and later in the RP, the Shadow Wolves) live, and the forest where Fern Wolves, Fern Eagles, Red Foxes, and some Shadow Wolves live.

-Wolf and Animal Organization

The two main packs are the Halite and Fern Wolves/Eagles/Foxes, who are led by Moondrop and Celandine and their eagles, respectively. The Shadow Wolves live scattered among these two packs and don’t have a leader. Eventually, they will (see Rules and Guidelines for more).

-Magic

-Power Sources

A Power Source is a special object that gives magical powers to any animal who uses it. The Fern Power Source is a rare flower, the Halite Power Source is a special halite crystal, and the Shadow Power Source is a piece of obsidian. There is one Power Source for each pack as well as useless decoys of it. These are all guarded carefully (See Rules, Guidelines, and Role-Playing Info).

-Powers

All animals can turn invisible for a short time and teleport. Wolves, and sometimes eagles and foxes as well, receive special plant, weather, or shadow powers from their pack’s Power Source. Plant magic includes growth, destruction, or plant-potion powers. An example of this is the ability to cause a tree to bear another kind of fruit besides its own. Weather magic includes manipulating water, weather, and snow. An example of this is the ability to cause a certain type of cloud to appear or disappear. Shadow magic includes manipulating rocks and stone, and camouflaging in shadows. An example of this is the ability to temporarily blind an animal by throwing a shadow over their eyes. No animal has all the plant, weather, or shadow magic possible. If they use their powers too much and run out, they will not be able to use magic until they receive more from their pack’s Power Source.

-Special Powers

-If any Halite Wolf sets aside their magic for two days, they are able to build buildings made of ice. Three Fern Wolves do not have plant magic. They are seers instead and can see the future.

-Telepathy

Each Wolf is able to communicate telepathically with the Eagle of their element who was born on the same day as them. However, only the Shadow Wolves and Shadow Eagles know they can do this. The others have not discovered this trick yet.

-Trading

-Food is scarce in the tundra, so the Halite Wolves trade salt (halite) to the Fern Wolves in exchange for food.

-Rules, Guidelines, and Role-Playing Info-

1. No OP charries, please. If your charrie has all, for example, shadow-related magic, we will ask you to choose one specialty.

2. Please don't control other CBer's charries too much!

3. For each Wolf charrie you make, you must make an Eagle charrie who is the same age and the same element.

4. There are only three Fern Wolves who are seers and can see the future. They don't have any other magic.

5. There isn't a Shadow Wolf leader yet. If you have an active Shadow Wolf charrie, we will likely ask you to lead.

6. We are two CBers writing under pen names. Feel free to guess us!

7. If you have any questions, we suggest reading through everything we wrote above. If you still have questions after that, please ask us.

I'm new to RPing on the CB. I have done some, but not here, so does it work a certain way? If I want to start RPing, can I start a new RP?

@Amity, I don't imagine RPing is very different on the CB from different places. The New Ultimate Guide's definition is: "A story in which multiple CBers participate. Each
participant has a character which they create based on the topic and
then everyone works together and writes a communal story from the
perspective of their respective character. Usually written in first
person, but it's not a requirement." More or less the only general rules are to not RP too much for other CBers' charries, to not use overly OP charries, and to stick to the themes (and, ofc, be respectful of other CBers). You can definitely start a new RP! Plunge in and experiment, it's fine :)

<Moondrop>

Evening nodded, and Moondrop gave him a smile. The more eagles who came, the better.

"What will we be looking for this season?" Lunarmist said, casually - Moondrop suspected she had also noticed how strained the conversation had become for an instant.

"I expect there'll be halite, and maybe moss," Moondrop replied. "I want to look specifically for Pyran Moss - it's been a while since we got any healing plants from the Forest Wolves, and it would be good to have some in stock." You could never be careful enough, especially when there were new litters of pups. She was planning to lead this group of wolves herself, and send the others in search of other food with Crystal. "Do you want to come with me?" she asked Lunarmist. "You've proven yourself to be excellent at finding it."

(Cethin)

Cethin crept away from the other wolves, wanting time alone. She glanced back a few times, but nobody noticed as she slunk behind a hill. Except...

She looked up, and there was Vega, swooping above her head. What's wrong? the eagle asked.

Nothing's wrong. Cethin continued on, letting herself be a little less cautious the farther she went. She finally paused, turned, and observed the pack from afar. She realized that seemed creepy and turned her attention to the landscape, then noticed her prints in the snow.

~RP is now starting in the forest~

I’m so sorry for not posting anything and keeping you waiting…I was inactive for a bit.

Open to RPing with anyone!

Celandine

The night was gone by the time Celandine stepped through the entrance of her den. She looked up at the sun—warm and luminous, as it had always been—as she plucked a clawful of the greater celandine flowers growing beside her, gently bit through the stem, and threaded another through the hole.

The necklaces were clumsy. Always. Celandine guessed the youngest pups could easily make them. She’d never have dreamt of necklaces if it weren’t tradition for the Fern Wolf leaders to wear them, to symbolize humility and the interconnectedness of the pack.

The animals agreed unanimously that traditions such as this should never be lost. The forest and the animals within it were always changing, like the clouds drifting above, but tradition never changed. Always, there was a wolf leader and their eagle advisor to judge and make decisions. Always, there were guards (whose parents had been guards whose parents had also been guards up to the beginning of the packs) who protected the garden of the flowers that was the source of all their magic, and distributed the flowers to the newborn pups and eagles. Always, there were in the seers who knew secrets no one else did, and carved only half of these prophecies on stone to set up in the forum (well—as far as Celandine knew the forum was a newer idea, but she was almost certain the rest of these traditions, and the ones she couldn't remember at the moment, had existed for a long time)

She fastened the last two flowers around herself, brushed several of the leaves off of her fur, and turned right, her head turned to the promise of yet another day, like so many others.

Now, where exactly did Perennial say he’d be, again? The stream, wasn’t it?

>Acorn<

Acorn leapt into the stream again, splashing and soaking Oak through his feathers---well, soaking him through his feathers again, and leapt back out. She leapt in, leapt out, leapt in, tail wagging ferociously as she pranced through the stream.

)Lunarmist(

"I expect there'll be halite, and maybe moss," Moondrop replied. "I want to look specifically for Pyran Moss - it's been a while since we got any healing plants from the Forest Wolves, and it would be good to have some in stock. Do you want to come with me?" Moondrop asked Lunarmist. "You've proven yourself to be excellent at finding it."

"Thank you. I'll come then," Lunarmist responded. "When do we set off...? And should we wait for others?"

^Lavender^

Lavender saw darkness, and she heard echoes of distant voices, too faint to make out. She felt an ominous fear and uncertainty creep up her back as she stood frozen in place.

Suddenly, she woke up, blinking sleep from her eyes as the golden rays of the sun shone through. The sweet scent of lavender surrounded her, and she breathed a sigh of relief. It must've been a dream...not a prophecy.

She stalked over to the nearby stream, feeling content as she heard splashing water as another Fern wolf frisked about ahead, with an eagle companion. Lavender glanced over at her own eagle, Allium---who had light brown and white feathers and pale yellow eyes like the morning sunlight. Lavender had never been able to communicate with Allium, naturally, but they still understood each other through body language and gestures---relatively.

She went over to the Fern wolf, vaguely recognizing her as Acorn. "Hey Acorn!" she greeted. "How's the water?"

<Moondrop>

"Thank you," Lunarmist said. "I'll come then. When do we set off...? And should we wait for the others?"

"We should aim for an early start," Moondrop said; Pyran moss was, for some reason, easiest to find early in the morning. "Crystal can go with the others - I thought we three could go together. If you need a moment, though, I can wait." Even if she needed to ordain things sometimes, she could see nothing wrong with flexibility. Surely that was the mark of a good alpha: that you could be kind as well as wise, that you could be strong but still not dictating every detail. And she had a feeling that she was overthinking this - in fact, she was sure of it - and it was far too simple to overthink. But there was just so much to being in charge of all the Halite Wolves.

As for going with Lunarmist, she wanted more time alone with her. She still couldn't stop feeling that there was something happening with the young wolf, or at least she'd felt like that since this conversation started. "Are you ready, then?" she asked.

I can RP with anyone!

\Glorywind\ (though I might change his name, now that I think about it :P)

Glory sauntered through the forest, taking in but not really thinking about the sunlight sparkling through the lofty trees and invisible birds singing above him (no, no, no - where was his terminology going? He hadn't been going metaphorical, had he?? Unseen was much more precise than invisible) and the smell of cool water. He was probably close to the stream, in that case. He could hear and smell some wolves over there. For a second the life and vibrancy of the forest went to his head, and he pounced on a drifting leaf, reveling in the sleek joy of movement.

But really, there were more important things to life than leaves. He smoothed his fur with his nose until it was a burnished bronze-red, and then he trotted sassily out towards the stream.

~Virens~

Virens trotted through the cold snow of the tundra, flooding up aer fur to keep aer warm. Ae didn’t know why ae didn’t just move to the forest. Ae certainly couldn’t stand the cold. Virens shivered again. Ae supposed ae just had to many attachments here to make it worth it. Leaping onto a rock, Virens spotted aer icy cave home in the distance. Ae went faster, hoping to reach the warm safety of aer cave as soon as possible. Arriving covered in snow, Virens went to work immediately, checking to make sure no one had aer food stash while ae had been away. Reassuring aerself that it was fine, Virens curled up in her scavenged bed in the back of the cave, watching the snow fall slowly outside.

/Perennial\

The water was cold. Perennial snapped at the weeds growing between the rocks at the bottom of the stream. He caught onto one and pulled until it snapped. No, it was no use. The root wouldn’t come out.

He climbed onto the surface of the rock, and shook his wings a little, shivering. He’d always hated water. What was the point? You couldn’t hold it. You couldn’t keep it in one place. You couldn’t peck it away when it clung to your feathers. And it was terribly cold in this case because the stream water came directly from melted snow and ice. Despite this, every year the stream was infested with invasive water plants, and so, because naturally no one else volunteered, here he was.

Acorn was playing in the stream with Oak beside her. Droplets of water rose higher and higher from the water as she moved with that vibrant, pouring energy of hers that she usually brought with her when she was out adventuring. And Oak. For some reason Perennial always saw Oak right beside Acorn, usually trying to get her to turn back, unsuccessfully. He wondered if either of them were cold in the least.

From behind several low-hanging trees, he saw Lavender approach the stream and greet Acorn. Perennial knew it was Lavender immediately. Who else would spend most of her waking hours surrounded by bees and lavender and all that dreadful buzzing? (Perennial had distrusted bees since he tried to eat one as a young eaglet and spent the rest of the day trying to pull the stinger out with his beak) He wondered what she’d be like if her name was slightly different. Did she like lavender because her name was lavender?

“Good morning,” he said to Lavender as she passed by him. Then to Acorn—“Don’t trip on the plants in the water; I haven’t pulled them out yet.”

Celandine

Celandine looked through the trees surrounding the stream as she sidestepped a pile of sharp rocks (she’d tried to get them removed so wolf pups wouldn’t keep tripping over them and hurting themselves, but the dirt was packed so tightly and stubbornly it was no use). Yes, here was Perennial—apparently pulling out weeds again and looking very wet and annoyed—as well as Acorn, Oak, Lavender, Allium, and a fox whose name she couldn’t remember (should she remember the names of animals outside the pack?)…It was something about air or fire or something like that…

I think Alabaster was talking to Moondrop, Lunarmist, and Evening, but really it could be anyone near the ice palaces.

o Alabaster o

Alabaster trotted through the snow lightly. He was unexplainably happy today. As much as he liked traveling, he always felt most at home in the tundra, with the wind pushing him one way and pulling him the other, and ice to slide on, and the delicious feeling of snow on his ears. He felt strangely homesick—was it weird to feel homesick when you were at home?

He slid down a snowdrift, the box of halite tied around his back rattling slightly as he did so. Huh. He thought he’d packed it tightly, but maybe it needed more snow. He untied the box and opened it. Yes, he hadn’t packed it tightly enough. He scooped several pawfuls from the drift and patted it into the cracks between the cubes, sculptures, and bowls of halite within the box (he’d dump out the water and replace it with moss once he got to the forest). There. That was better. He tied everything up again and continued trotting south, towards the mountains where some of the eagles lived.

Even so early in the morning, the palaces the wolves had built were sparkling in the light from the sunrise. Wolves and eagles moved nearby, none of which he recognized but regardless of that—

“Hallo!” he called.

The wind blew his voice away. Eh, worth a shot.

I know Perennial speaks before Lavender, but before I saw what Perennial had said, I had already written it out this way, soo...

Also, Acorn's part makes a lot more sense if you read Oak's part :)

>Acorn<

Suddenly, a voice from out of nowhere said, "Hey Acorn! How's the water?"
Acorn spluttered to a stop and shook herself off, splattering all over Oak and the newcomers, as well as Perennial, Celandine's eagle, who had been busy pulling weeds out of the river. "It's really nice!" Acorn said, panting, and looking up to see an older wolf with light brown fur and a waft of lavender scent around her... what was her name again? Oh, yeah, Lavender! And so the eagle must be Allium! "Hi Lavender, hi Allium! What are you doing by the stream?" She looked at them more closely. Water droplets were hanging from their fur and feather coats. "And... why are you two all wet?"
"Maybe because you soaked us," Oak said, and Acorn turned to him, confused. Soaked them? When? "When you dried off. Sorry," The last sentence he directed to Lavender, Allium, and Perennial.
(space for answers)
Acorn jumped back in the water, and was now splashing and rolling around on the muddy floor of the stream.
"Acorn, don't do that," Oak scolded beside her, raising his wings in agitation. "When you shake again---and you know you will---you'll splatter mud on everyone!"
Acorn laughed at his disgruntled face as she ran through the stream, mud dripping from her coat.
Perennial called over to her, "Don't trip on the plants in the water; I haven't pulled them out yet," and Acorn laughed at his face too. Eagles really were so cute---and then her paw caught on a tangle of roots, and suddenly she was snout deep in mud, the splash soaking everyone around her for a second time. Sneezing, she got up and shook herself... mud flying over everyone---except Oak, who had escaped and was sitting on top of a nearby tree, out of range.
Acorn looked guiltily up at him, and he shook his head and sighed, then flew down to a muddy rock besides Acorn. Just then, a fox with a burnished bronze-red coat trotted all-importantly out to the stream. Acorn squinted at the fox. What was his name again...?
Oak, seeing the concentration in her eyes, nudged her. "Glorywind," he whispered.
Oh, Glory! Of course! With that conceited and erratic air, who else could he be? "Hey, Glory!" She shouted to the fox. "How are you?" She wagged her tail and pranced through the stream onto dry land.
"WAIT, DON'T---" Oak started to shout, following her, but it was too late. Acorn shook herself, mud and water dousing everyone for round three, including Celandine, the leader of the FernWolves, who was just then coming out of the forest. Acorn stopped mid-shake, staring at the Leader, then at the various animals around her. Oh no... what if they all hate me now??
-Oak-
Oak saw Allium and Lavender approaching, and waved to them brightly.
"Hey Acorn, how's the water?" asked Lavender once she was closer, completely ignoring Oak. Oak ruffled his feathers, disgruntled. He was used to being in the background next to Acorn's vibrant nature, and he knew that no one ever meant anything by it, but it was just that... he would've liked to be acknowledged, too, of course.
Acorn spluttered to a stop and, before Oak could cry out not to, shook herself, water droplets arcing through the air and onto Lavender, Allium, Perennial---who was besides them cleaning the weeds from the stream, and him. Acorn looked so content after she was done that it would have been hard to get mad at her. Of course, Oak had been with Acorn so long that he had perfected the skill of smiling fondly at her actions while also getting steaming angry at her.
"It's really nice!" Acorn exclaimed, panting lightly. "Hi Lavender, hi Allium! What are you doing by the stream? And... why are you two all wet?"
"Maybe because you soaked us," Oak said, trying to be deadpan, but failing when Acorn turned to him with confused eyes. Of course; when she shook, she liked to close her eyes, so she didn't know. "When you dried off," he clarified. "Sorry." This, he directed to Allium, Lavender, and Perennial.
(Space for answers)
Acorn jumped back in the water, and was now splashing and rolling around on the muddy floor of the stream.
"Acorn, don't do that," Oak scolded besides her, raising his wings in agitation. "When you shake again---and you know you will---you'll splatter mud on everyone!"
Acorn laughed at him as she ran through the stream, mud dripping from her coat. Oak sighed. He hadn't really expected that to work, anyway.
Perennial called over to her, "Don't trip on the plants in the water; I haven't pulled them out yet," and Acorn laughed again, running wildly through the water and having the time of her life. And Oak, watching her affectionately, saw it all happen in slow motion... her paw caught on a tangle of roots, and she went slowly down, a mix of surprise and---yup, that was excitement, Oak noted, groaning---on her snout as she fell snout-first into the stream, the splash soaking everyone around her for a second time.
Oak ruffled his feathers, drying them, and flew out of there onto the top of a tree, for what he knew was coming.
Sneezing, Acorn got up, delighted and exhilarated and, happily, shook herself... mud flying over the others.
Acorn noticed him on the tree and looked guiltily up at him. Whoops, her expression said. He shook his head and sighed, then flew down to a muddy rock besides Acorn. Just then, a fox with a burnished bronze-red coat trotted all-importantly out to the stream. Oak recognized him instantly as Glory. Good thing he made it just in time to escape Acorn's mud bath. That fox loves for his fur coat to look good.
Next to him, Acorn squinted at the fox.
Oak nudged her. "Glorywind," he whispered.
Realization dawned in Acorn's eyes. "Hey, Glory!" She shouted to the fox. "How are you?"
Not even a thank you, noted Oak, annoyed. He loved the wolf, but he was going to have to talk to her later about manners.
Acorn wagged her tail and pranced through the stream onto dry land, going to greet Glory.
"WAIT, DON'T---" Oak started to shout, following her, but it was too late. Acorn shook herself, mud and water dousing everyone for round three, and this time, her arc reached out and sprayed Celandine, who was coming out from the forest.
At this point, Oak set it in his mind that he would have to ban Acorn from the stream until she had learned proper stream etiquette. Soaking the leader of the FernWolves (not to mention her eagle, multiple times)... Oak sighed. And why were so many animals at the stream at exactly this time on this day anyways?? Arghh.
(Welp lizards, I just got like 7/15ths of the cast of characters dripping wet... this is what you all get for charting a course towards the stream :D)

@Moondrop and Celandine, can eagles verbally communicate with wolves? (I'll assume they can for now)

|Evening|

"We should aim for an early start," Moondrop was saying. "Crystal can go with the others - I thought we three could go together. If you need a moment, though, I can wait. Are you ready then?" She turned to Lunarmist.

Ready?, Lunar asked Evening.

If you are, Evening replied easily. Evening tended to let Lunar do the speaking---she prefered listening over speaking.

"I am," Lunar said.

Suddenly, Evening heard a faraway voice. She couldn't make out what was said, but since wolves had better hearing and smelling, she glanced at Lunar. What was that?

Lunar seemed to understand and said aloud, "Is that Alabaster?"

@Allium@

Allium glanced at Oak, noticing his ruffled feathers. He understood---eagles got ignored sometimes, and Lavender was probably too worried about the dream she had earlier to think about it. A splash of water and mud snapped Allium out of his thoughts.

"Hi Lavender, hi Allium! What are you doing by the stream? And... why are you two all wet?" Acorn was saying.

"Maybe because you soaked us," Oak said. "When you dried off. Sorry." He turned to the victims of the splashing.

"Oh it's okay," Lavender replied. "It woke me up properly, at least."

"Same," Allium agreed. "Though next time, maybe I'll fly up to the tree as well."

(Perennial answers)

Acorn jumped back to continue to splash, though Oak stopped her by saying, "Acorn, don't do that. When you shake again---and you know you will---you'll splatter mud on everyone!"

Acorn laughed, with Perennial calling, "Don't trip on the plants in the water; I haven't pulled them out yet."

Allium flew on top of Lavender to watch as Acorn tripped over some roots, splashing everyone once more. Allium noticed Oak fly up to the tree again, and taking that as a warning, he flew as well, however not fast enough, as he still was splashed with a bit of mud. Luckily a lot less than Lavender and the others did.

A fox trotted over, and Allium recognized him as Glorywind, from the slightly sassy manner he carried himself.

"Hey Glory!" Acorn greeted. "How are you?"

Before the others could also greet Glorywind, Acorn pranced over to Glorywind, shaking herself before Oak could stop her.

Allium, amused, and still not as muddy as the others from having flown up to the tree, fluttered over with Lavender trotting behind him. He noticed Celandine, who had witnessed and been a victim of the mud splashing.

"Greetings Celandine!" Lavender called, and Allium echoed, with the slightest tone of amusement of the scene the Fern Wolf leader was greeted with.

Right, in future my charries are only going to the stream when they want to get wet - or just not during business hours :D

\Glory\

Absolute chaos greeted him. There were wolves and eagles everywhere; one of them, whom he seemed to remember was called Acorn, skittered towards him. "Hey Glory!" she exclaimed. "How are you?" And without further ado, she shook herself, splattering mud and water all over the place.

For an instant, Glory felt the playfulness and, well, the hilarity of the scene bubbling in him. Weighing options was important here. He could either roll around on the ground laughing or make some attempt at preserving his dignity, or maybe splash Acorn back. He probably already knew which one would win... "I'm wet," he informed Acorn. "To state the obvious, I know... and probably not a surprise, since everyone here is more or less wet." He shook himself in turn, and batted a paw at the water. "How're you?"
