sidenote: celine im so sorry i promise im not stealing your idea please ive had this idea for a while im begging you i plan to contribute to your thing youre a good writer im not a plagarist officer please.

anyway ive always wanted to do something thats kind of like a text adventure because there was a game i played when i was knee high to a grasshopper. (please assist me in bringing that saying back into common usage) and anyway the game was a text adventure and it was real cool. ive tried making text adventure type things before but they all failed. failed ideas freak me out, i feel personally guilty about their demise.
okay im getting off topic, which is a skill of mine. this is set in the same universe as everything i write, because thats the kind of perso i am. it will include: supernatural stuff. weird bit characters. elements of mystery. nightmare sequences. distinct stylistic choices by yours truly.
and most of all, it will involve you, reader. for through the terminal, you will be able to support the character you have been given control of. dont let the power get to your head. possible suggestions for actions will be provided, if you ask for them.
ill post the first turn after this post shows up. feel free to ask questions, ill answer them if i decide that i want to.

hey guys. announcement. my grandfather fell ill i guess? they're selling their house. i'm going to stay with them for a couple weeks, so the orderly updates won't be a possibility. starting tomorrow, we're entering INTERMISSION MODE. it's temporary!
What is intermission mode?
in intermission mode, the veil of the fourth wall vanishes. commands cannot be issued, but you may ask characters questions. you can also ask me questions. i'll try to answer in a timely manner.
Can you explain that in a non-dumb way?
sure. basically just an AMA. ask me about my writing. ask characters questions and they'll answer in-character.
What sort of questions?
man, you're making this really hard. i'd like if you asked me questions about my writing process, my inspiration, etc. characters you can ask, like, their favorite colors, how certain pairs of characters met, etc. but you can ask anything, really.

Members of the Swinhomish tribe lived on the island for a while. They left shortly after a "green light" struck the island.
Terrance Zhu can be seen in an episode of an old documentary, ranting about being abducted by aliens. He has no memory of appearing on the show.
When Ten first met Lillie, she was riding a bicycle into a lake, intentionally. Ten helped her pull it out.
Wren met Diana in the sixth grade. They are now sophomores. They'll have been dating for one year in October.
Wren and Diana's other best friend is named Sam Aberdeen. He is an albino, with diagnosed paranoia. He lives down the road from Wren.
I am doing okay. This is the most existentially troubling vacation I have ever been on.

I'm so sorry about your grandfather. My grandmother was very sick a year or so ago, and I got kinda scared, so yeah. Its hard. I get it. Hope you are doing okay.

yeah. he's got dementia. he just went to the hospital and he isn't himself anymore. he's basically just a terrified child at this point. i feel scared and sick, so thanks for the support, dude. trying not to freak out.

So sorry about your grandfather. I can't say I know what it feels like, I was too young to fully remember when my grandmother was ill, but it's hard. Sending love and hope everything gets better soon <33

Ooo dementia *winces* My grandmother went through that too, so I definetly feel ya. I didn't know her very well, bc she lived halfway across the states, so I didn't see her that often. We actually moved to help her, and I remember her being the sweetest little old fashioned lady. But that illness defiently changed her into someone else :/ So I get where you're coming from. Sending love!

for the Woodsman's design, i wanted something that seemed vaguely human, but not entirely, or enough to really count. I worry the design was too similar to the Demogorgon? i haven't seen stranger things, but the design might be a little too similar. for the whole bit with the house following Wren, i wanted something that felt both completely alien and unknowable, but also personally frightening and even petty.

1. ultimate conclusion isn't set in stone. it's an interactive game. everything changes. I actually started the game with two main possible storylines. the one where you choose to visit Wren, which is this story, and the one where you stayed in your apartment, which involved submerged ruins and possibly a cult of fish people? I don't remember exactly. maybe that'll make an appearance later, but probably not :>
2. she's strange, which will be apparent when you finally meet her.
3. Ten's dream involved a small man in a green suit. too many characters, too many names, my bad. his name is Nyarl. i'll makea castt page or something. wren sees him too!
4. literal green light. have you ever seen a shooting star? that, but green. assuming we're referring to the same thing.
