Forest Role Play
Forest Role Play
In the middle of a huge sea of trees lies a tiny town.
The forest used to be called Silva Vivus Umbrare, which, when translated from the old language, means the Forest of Living Shadows, but the people just called it the Woods. Still, the forest lived up to its old name.
The trees moved during the night, uprooting themselves and gliding across the earth to a new spot. Sometimes the guards on duty at night would catch a glimps of an elk or deer gliding through the trees with a tall, graceful figure on its back. Occasionally, a larger creature slipped past the guards and stole away a cow or pig or goat.
But even with all of the dangers which surrounded them, the people of the town were proud to say that through the half-decade of the existance of the town, they have never lost a person to the woods or to any creature living in the woods.
Until now.
This year, during the Cilana festival, a time in the spring when the people cut down all the trees which have grown at or moved to the edge of the town, three young children disappeared.
Alana, an eight-year-old girl with frizzy red hair and a quick smile, Jakob, a serious five-year-old boy with sunburned skin from too many naps in the open, and Zena, a talkative seven-year-old girl with intense blue eyes. Their disappearence stopped the Cilana festival and threw the town into chaos.
The townspeaple knew that the three would never have gone off into the Woods by themselves, for the fear of the forest was too deep set in everyone, so the townspeople could only think that they had been kindnapped or stolen. Although the townspeaple were frightened and scared and the parents of the children were frantic, only a few people dared to go out into the woods.
You, along with a small group, have decided to venture into the forest to see if the children can still be found. Your bravery has given the town new hope, and the townspeaple have provided you with weapons, tools, and horses. You will leave on the new moon.

If anyone decides to drop out, which I hope will not happen, consider putting up one last post to take care of your character, whether to have them return to the village or be trapped somewhere or die. (Wow, that was slightly depressing!)
Write you soon!

-Ash-
From the back of the group, Ash, along with Azi were lagging behind a bit, Azi, because he was half-asleep, and Ash, because his horse was half-asleep.
Ash looked up at the canopy. The sheer amount of greenery and flowering plants was amazing, but Ash also felt as if there was something lurking beyond that. He could hear animal cries, but he couldn't see anything. Except . . . a sudden flash of orange from behind a bush.
"Heya, Azi, didya see that?!" Ash asked.
"Hmmmm . . . what?!" Azi exclaimed, jolting awake.
Ash pointed to a bush, just as another flash of orange appeared through the foliage.
"Hey, let's check it out!" Azi said, dismounting hurriedly.
Ash swung off his old horse, and followed Azi through the trees. Demi looked at them with a hint of worry, but continued on.
"So, what do you think that was?" Ash asked, looking through the bushes and branches.
"I don't know," Azi said, "but I've got a couple of guesses."
Ash peered into the hollow of an oak. There seemed to be nothing there. And then with a blur of orange, something flew out and onto Ash's face.

wow what could it be???

~Leilani~
It was a peaceful ride until the screaming started.
"AUGHHHHH!!"
I looked behind me and noticed Ash and Azi's horses, but no Azi or Ash. Everyone else looked too, paused for a few seconds, and then unanimously dismounted their horses.
We ran, following the very loud screaming, until we got to a clearing. There were Ash and Azi. Azi stood there, looking mildly curious, while Ash struggled with something fuzzy and orange clinging to his head. Before I could even process the absurd situation, Sebastian stepped up and whacked the creature off Ash's head.
As a very confused Ash stood there rubbing his face, Azi studied the creature. Sebastian looked ready to whack the creature again, but Azi put up his hand. "Wait a second. I don't think it's dangerous..."
Slowly the creature brought itself up off the ground. It had a the body of a furry. bright-orange monkey, but a scaly tail, and its eyes were slitted; and its fangs were dripping with venom that burned through the grass.
Azi gulped. "OKAY DEFINITELY DANGEROUS DEFINITELY DANGROUS!"

-Azi-
This morning was already shaping up to be much more interesting than I had anticipated. Though I was half asleep only minutes ago, my body is now humming with the thrilling energy of being close to such an incredible magical creature. First, though, I have to identify what, exactly, it is, which is difficult with all the commotion going on after my declaration of its danger.
As Leilani took a look at Ash's face to make sure he was alright (he loudly insisted the contrary), I slowly, cautiously approached the creature. "It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you," I murmur, crouching down low. "I just want to get a look at you and say hello."
Once I finally get to look at him, it's clear what type of creature he is. "He's an Ibrix," I announce quietly to the group. "They aren't super common around here, so I'm not really sure where he came from." The ibrix makes a choked hissing sound and shakes his head angrily. I glare at Sebastian. "Well look, now you've hurt him!" I mutter.
"I hurt him?" Sebastian responds. "It was attacking Ash first."
"He was scared, he didn't know who we were and that was his defense mechanism... Hey, listen to me it's okay, we aren't going to hurt you any longer, if you would just let me look at you I'm going to try and help you..." I continue approaching the ibrix, speaking softly. The others look skeptical. Right as I'm finally reaching towards him, the ibrix launches into a flurry of motion, leaping forwards and sinking his teeth into my wrist. I gasp, and then laugh a little breathlessly as he bites onto my leather gauntlet but doesn't actually break through to skin.
"Look," I say, breathless and maybe a little gleeful. "Not dangerous!"
"Looks pretty dangerous to me," someone in the crowd mutters, and several others voice their agreement.
I straighten, ibrix still hanging off my arm, mind made up. "I'm keeping him! The ibrix is mine until he's well enough to go off on his own!"
Although the group looks less that thrilled about the newest addition to our group, I grin.
~~~
Just an fyi, the ibrix's name is Ben and he's evil but Azi loves him.
Am I posting too much? If so, I'm really sorry, but I just love this RP!
Demi~
Although I was quite fascinated by the ibrix (I had never seen one before), I still gave it a wide berth. I didn't want to know what would happen if those fangs touched flesh. Good thing I had brought antivenom and knew how to use it, though I had no idea if it worked on ibrix bites. I guess we'd find out if someone got bitten.
Iyara’s POV
I’m a bit wary of the itrix, but Spirit seems to like it. She sniffs it, sneezes, and then wags her tail. It jumps on her back like she’s a horse, and it’s hard to suppress the smile that threatens to appear on my face. Then I catch Demi’s eye, and we both burst out laughing. Azi laughs too, and says, “Go forth, noble steed, and we shall conquer the world together!” in a weird voice that he must think the itrix sounds like. Look! You’re making friends! says my brain. I told you! Yeah, well, it’s probably only temporary. I’m a bit sad at that thought, actually. We trail off in our laughter, and start paying attention to where we’re going. That’s when I see the blood.
Dundundun!!! @Cynthia M. and, um, Azi’s CBer, would either of you like to ship one of them and Iyara?
(August 3, 2020 - 6:02 pm)
I'm sorry, Demi is only fond of boys, and I'm pretty sure that @Sammy Everlast (Zander's CBer) and I already agreed to ship our characters. Very sorry! But Demi and Iyara can most definitely be friends or best friends!
(August 4, 2020 - 8:11 am)
Ok! I would love it if they could be friends though! Gecko, do you want to ship Azi and Iyara? If not that’s perfectly fine.
~Macy
He adpoted the ibrix. The venemous fanged evil thing. that was a silly move. even for me.
"What is that?" Iyara squeaks out. She is pointing at blood. There is a trail of it leading into the forest.
I draw my swords, "If you have experiance come to the front." I state.
"Who put you in charge?" Sebastian is immediately in front of me with his arms crossed.
"Myself, why are you upset?" I ask in a baby voice.
"Calm down-" Zander is between us.
"Shut up! We would be going off the path tha-" Sebastian says
"That you want to do? Oh I'm sorry its a ridiculous idea." I taunt him.
"It's the most logical way to find the kids" If Sebatian could have flames like coming out of his ears that would defiantly be happening right now.
"Guys!" Zander yells trying to get us to stop.
"Well this might be them. And they might still be alive." The argument takes a turn.
"Let's put it to a vote." Sebastian is obviously very very annoyed at me. Most people are.
"You two need to chill." Iyara is also in between us.
We stand glaring at eachother. My swords are still out and his arms are still crossed.
I wait for the others to respond.
DRAMA! ACTION! TENSION!
~Leilani~
"Stop!"
It's Iyara, and she sounds panicked. "Guys, quick! We need some herbs, and bandages and..."
I didn't hear the rest. Lying on the road is a man, turned on his side. I see the blood before I see the wound, it's everywhere. I'm not even sure if he's breathing, he could have bled out by now. But then Iyara says, "I can fell his pulse! We have to get him to the nearest town, now."
---------------------------
Sorry this is so short guys
(August 6, 2020 - 1:50 pm)
Zander's POV:
As soon as we found a way to stop the bleeding and put the man on Caoimhe, we rode as fast as we could to the next village.
Luckily, there was a small clinic for travelers. Demi and Bradley helped me get the wounded man inside, while the others watered the horses.
The clinics doctor started taking care of the man, and told us to leave.
Outside, the rest of the group put the horses away in a nearby stable, and also rented a couple rooms in the inn.
There wasn't enough room for all of us in the inn, so I and all the other guys decided to pitch our tents in a nearby clearing.
The girls left us to get dinner at the inn (There was also limited seating in the tavern part of the inn. Oh, the woes of being a gentleman.), but they rejoined us after we made a fire.
Apparently Demi got ingredients for s'mores. She really is wonderful.
Soon, we were all seated around the campfire.
"So, we still don't know much about each other." Demi pointed out, "Who want's to tell us more about themselves? Home, friends, family..."
(August 6, 2020 - 2:59 pm)
-Ash-
Well that's not good. First a trail of blood, and then a dead man. At least, hopefully he's not dead. Hopefully. Ash really didn't know.
And now Macy and Sebastian were arguing. "Hmmm, we should split up!" Ash suggested.
"Like that never goes wrong," Sebastian scoffed, "splitting up into two groups is a terrible idea."
"I wasn't suggesting splitting up into two groups," Ash shrugged.
"What were you suggesting then?" Macy asked.
"I was suggesting splitting up into three! There's still that dead guy over there," Ash said.
"That's an even worse idea, and that guy isn't dead," Sebastian said.
"Yet," Iyara said, "We have to get him to safety!"
"So what do we do?" Ash asked quizzically.
IMPORTANT: IM GIVING ZANDER MORE SIBLINGS FOR THE HECK OF IT. HIS FAMILY NOW HAS 13-19 KIDS INSTEAD OF 8.
(August 6, 2020 - 3:27 pm)
Sorry, guys! I'm guilty of RP neglect. Anyways, sorry it's so short but I didn't have that much time.
Jeannie~
Demi asked a question, but Jeannie couldn’t answer it. She was exhausted, upset- you name it, she was feeling it. She shrugged unenthusiastically, not even sure what anyone was saying to her.
She pulled her blanket around her, turning away from the fire. Gave a little cross between a gasp, sob and sigh. Stood up. And screamed.
Demi and Iyara were immediately on their feet, Demi to rush over and ask what happened and Iyara to look at what had scared Jeannie. Macy stood up and drew her weapons. “You. Get up. Now,” she said out of the corner of her mouth. Sebastian didn’t move. “Why do you always have to put yourself in charge?”
Before Macy could answer, Azi intervened. “Why do you always have to pick a fight? She’s taking charge ‘cause no one else is, so just do what she says, okay?” Sebastian rolled her eyes and sat. Azi joined Ash and Macy.
Jeannie, who had been shaking the whole time, fainted. The last thing she saw was Iyara yelling frustratedly, “Silva Vivus Umbrare! Now she’s fainted! WHY is everything going WRONG?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y'all can decide whether or not it was a hallucination or some crazy threat or the ibrix bit her or whatever. I'll try to post again soon!
(August 6, 2020 - 6:26 pm)
Zander's POV:
Well, there goes tonight's peace.
Jeannie stood up from her spot, and screamed. Really, really, loudly.
Macy and Sebastian started arguing for no apparent reason. Something about Macy trying to order Sebastian around, he refused, then Azi stepped in... to worsen the situation.
They were really making me angry.
Then, Jeannie fainted. She was sitting closest to me, so I naturally reached out and caught her.
"Silva Vivus Umbrare! Now she's fainted! WHY is everything going WRONG?" Iyara yelled.
"Is she okay?" Macy asked, walking up to me as I set down an unconscious Jeannie.
I glared at her, then drew my sword.
"Zander... What are you doing?"
"Oh c'mon, we can't have three casualties!"
"Maybe if we all calm down-"
I lunged past Macy, stabbing a Murkbeing.
"Oh." Macy said, realizing I wasn't trying to hurt her. Her eyes widened. "Oh."
There whole clearing was swarmed by Hollowfaces, Shadowbeasts, and Murkbeings.
"Caston!" I snapped, "Why don't you tell the group about these creatures."
"Er, yes! Hollowfaces can run up to 150 mph, Murkbeings like stabbing then drowning their victims, Shadowbeasts are 25 ft. tall and nobody has lived to talk about an encounter with one-"
He kept rambling on about the creatures, as everyone (except Jeannie) fought.
"What do they all have in common?" I hissed, slicing through a Hollowface.
"They can all- Oh."
"What is it!?" Macy exclaimed.
"They can track feelings of hatred."
"See." I muttered angrily at Macy. "What have you done to even help the kids so far? You've been dead weight the whole time."
"I-"
"There are three kids, scared and alone. You're not helping at all. And you have the audacity to say your in charge?"
"But-"
I took out the last monster, and walked away.
