Percy Jackson RP!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Percy Jackson RP!

Percy Jackson RP!
I haven't seen one of these for a while, so I decided to make one.
In this RP, the satyrs have gone missing, so the gods themselves must help the demigods on their way to Camp Half-Blood. However, the gods can't help them directly. So instead, they put all the demigods in the same school, and left a copy of a Percy Jackson book, in hopes that they would come together and realize who they were.
The charrie sheet:
Name:
Age:
Immortal parent:
Any powers/ talents (You can have either 5 small talents, 2 big talents, or 1 talent and 1 power):

Here's mine!
Name: Kalinda Patel (Indian)
Age: 13
Immortal parent: Hecate
Any powers/ talents (You can have either 5 small talents, 2 big talents, or 1 talent and 1 power): She has one talent and one power. Her talent is drawing, and her power is magic.
Appearance: Dark skin, and long, wavy brown hair. Brown-black eyes.
Personality: Very outgoing. She has a lot of friends, and is extremely nice. However, she is also show-offy.
Favorite weapon: Dagger
Background/Other: None

And here's another one!
Name: Sakura Kita (Japanese) (Last name means "north", first name means "cherry blossom")
Age: 12
Immortal parent: Apollo
Any powers/ talents (You can have either 5 small talents, 2 big talents, or 1 talent and 1 power): She has 2 big talents. She is extremely good at writing poetry and has won quite a few singing contests.
Appearance: Short, with straight black hair usually pulled up into pigtails. Her eyes are angled upwards (Unlike my own).
Personality: Very secretive. She doesn't want to be judged by her family. She's also a sad girl. And she does NOT trust anyone.
Favorite weapon: Sword
Background/Other: Her great-grandfather was a general in World War II, and she obviously keeps that secret. Her aunt also died from leukemia, because of an atomic bomb.
It would be cool if someone made a Chinese charrie, one who was killed by her great-grandfather! The conflict would be fun to write about. (Many Chinese were killed in World War II, but we only learn about the Western deaths in school.)

Someone who is with Jacinth, post please!

Kyanite~

I slam the phone into the pile of keepsakes. It slides along the carpet and stops by the wall. Picking it up, angrily, I dial the number again, and again, and again. Not even voice mail picks up. What's the use? I should've known he wouldn't have had it. Why did I even try? I sit for a second, staring. Then, as if I were a puppet jerked by strings, I look up suddenly. Before I know it, I'm running out the door, dashing down the stairs, and scooping up my back-pack. Back in my room, I dump out its contents and instead dump in my phone, a half-empty bottle of water, and a jacket in case it starts raining again. After a moments hesitation, I crumple the letter into the jumbled pile as well. Grabbing two cookies from the kitchen as I walk by, I look around for anyone watching. No one is paying me any attention. The screen door slams shut against me. Long, wet grass soaks my shoes as I walk forward. Maybe a walk will clear my mind.

What do I do? I have to tell the others! I sit, staring out of my window. However, I'm not seeing the beautiful greenery outside.
Will anyone believe me?
Is magic really real?
Yes.
Deep down, I've known it for years. Long after all the other kids, one by one, have stopped believing, I was, (Or I thought I was) last to stop.
But I have never stopped.
I've known it in my blood. In my skin. In my very soul.
I have always believed.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Ten minutes later, I find myself knocking on Jacinth's door. Jacinth was one of the kids who saw the Minotaur, like I did.
A light-brown haired lady, probably Jacinth's mother, opens the door.
"Hello, are you a friend of Jacinth's?"
"Yeah, I guess." I smile politely at her.
"All the children are over there, near the driveway." She gestures off to the right.
I march off to the driveway, where, sure enough, Sakura, Julia, and Jacinth are talking.
"I know why!" I announce, holding up my copy of The Lightning Thief.
They all turn to face me.
"The Minotaur…" Julia begins.
"Yes, yes. But not only the Minotaur!" My dark hands shake. "This book. Has everything. We need--"
"Arushi, is that a collection of Greek myths? Because we know…"
"No, it's much more than that. It explains everything-- Why this is happening, what's our part in this…"
Jacinth and Julia exchange a look.
"I want to see this." Sakura snatches it from hands and starts to read. She skips many pages, scanning them impatiently, until she gasps.

Ianthe-

As people start to trickle out of Conference Room B, I stay behind. Soon everyone is gone. I start towards the door when I trip on my untied shoelaces and fall on my face. Honestly, the one day I wear something besides boots, I end up tripping. I guess I'm not meant to wear shoes with laces.

I grunt. I'm about to push myself up when something catches catches my eye, something underneath the table against the wall. I push myself towards it, and reach my hand into the darkness. It's a narrow fit. I grab something square and hard. I rotate it, and now I can feel stacked pages. It's a book.

Curiosity seizes hold of me, and I pull it out slowly, being careful not to give the top of my arm a splinter of a scratch from the rough underside of the table. Once the book it out, I stand up and blow a layer of dust off of it. I squint to read the title.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

I flip through the pages, when a word grabs my attention.

Minotaur.

Minotaur, minotaur..."A ferocious mythological monster, half-man and half-bull," I hear Mr. Brown's lecture in my head. The lecture he was giving on mythology. Greek mythology.

My heart skips a beat. I pull my phone out and dial the first person I can think of.

"Jacinth? Hey, this is Ianthe. Listen, I found something important. No time to discuss it here but it...it has something to do with what happened today."

"Wait, what? Where do we meet?"

"Your house. I'm coming to your house." I say, not sure where I got that idea from.

"Wha-"

"Call anyone you remember was there to witness the attack. I mean, if you have their numbers."

"i only have the numbers for like, half of the people."

"That's fine, okay? Just do it."

"Alright."

To Julia's house.

**********************

Is it okay if in this RP, the book is not recognized as a widely popular fictional book? What if it's a book only our charries have ever found. Maybe we can even say that Rick Riordian is a demigod. Tongue out

Argh, I am so annoyed! I was started typing my post, like, twenty minutes ago, but my mom had to use the computer for fan email, and right now my typing is sitting there, on the computer, and I can't access it. I'm typing on the iPad right now. I probably have to start over.   As I was GOING to say...

Whoa! That was kind of a confusing series of posts, so correct me if I'm wrong...they went to Conference Room B briefly, then Julia and Sakura meet at Sakura's house, then Jacinth calls, and now they r going to Jacinth's house.

Julia-

Sakura texts me to come over to her house, to discuss whatever happened. I text my dad that I'm going to a friend's house to work on some coding homework.

*********

Ah, my mom is done with the email. I can go back to the computer now! :) yay

Additional note: @Cloudy Dweller....ooh, a "MEGA crush on Julia" this is interesting we'll see how this plays out.

continuing....

Julia-

I'm at Sakura's house. We go inside her room, a computer facing me. I have a tab open, some dumb how-to coding website for kids that I never use, but it looks official enough to seem like something that would be related to school. It has to look official becasue Sakura told her mom that I'm here to work on "coding stuff for school" and we want it to stay that way.

"So, do you think it was possible? That…That animal?"  I ask, nervous. I still can't get over what happened in the courtyard. It just didn't seem possible.

"I don't know. We all saw it, but…"

She trails off as my phone rings. I pick it up. It's Jacinth, my second. Or third cousin twice removed. Or second cousin three times removed? I don't remember. All I know that she is some sort of distant family, but she herself is not distant at all. no, she's a good friend of mine, related or not.

"Hey Blue-Jay, can this wait? I'm at Sakura's house," I say.

"You need to come to my house. Now. We need to discuss what happened," she says her voice strained.

I open my mouth to tell her to come to Sakura's house, but as if reading my mind over the phone, she speaks again. "Look, you need to come to my house. Ianthe called me a few minutes ago and asid she'd be coming to my house becasue she found something really important and she's on her way and she said to bring you two and whoever else I remember was...you know, where it happened. Or at least, the ones I have contacts for. Anyway, you two need to ocme here right away. I think Jake and Kalinda are coming, and maybe others too." she said, her words rushed and rapid-fire yet still understandable."

I sigh. "Kay." Jacinth hangs up, so I do too.

"Sakura, we're going to Jacinth's house. To talk," I tell Sakura. She nods, takes me downstairs, and yells something to her mom in Japanese.

Then we grab our bikes (everyone bikes around here, it's not a very large town) and go.

@ Owlgirl:

No, Kalinda's name was changed to Arushi. Also, Arushi wasn't invited over, she just rushed to Jacinth's house.

Halley~

I put down the book Percy Jackson. I realized that I had a book on Greek mythology in my own bookshelf. Thank you grandma Dotty! I figured it out. We are demigods. I pull out my phone and text Julia, "where r u? I've figured it out." I press the send button and wait. And wait. And wait. I realize that thirty minutes have passed. That is sooo not like Jules. She must be to busy. And for that she must be at someone's house. And for that she must be going to one of the kids houses who was with us when the Minotaur attacked. And for that something must be going on. That I need to know about. I stand up. I wasn't invited, but I am following Julia. Just then she bikes by my house. Perfect timing!

Jacinth doesn't have a mom. She's the immortal parent. Actually, it's just Jacinth, Sakura, Julia, and now Arushi over at her house. Her Dad is at a meeting.

Jacinth~

"The Minotaur…" Julia stammers, staring at Arushi.
"Yes, yes. But not only the Minotaur!" Arushi replies, "This book. Has everything. We need--"
"Arushi, is that a collection of Greek myths? Because we know…"
"No, it's much more than that. It explains everything-- Why this is happening, what's our part in this…"
I glance at Julia, who gives me a confused smile.
"I want to see this." Sakura grabs the book and skims through the pages, muttering. Suddenly, she stops, gasping.
"Look," she says, pointing shakily at a paragraph, "right there. It says...we could be... children of greek gods."

"That's impossible!" I exclaim, snatching the book from Sakura, "It's fiction. Pure fiction. There's no way—"

"What better way to hide something than right under their noses?" A new voice questions. Wheeling her bike through the still-mushy and muddy driveway is a girl with brilliantly blonde hair and strikely blue eyes. I search my memory for her name...Hailey? Halley? Something like that.

Whatever happened with that last post? I think I hit something wrong on the keyboard. Nevertheless. Here is my post:

Jake-

I get a text from Jacinth. I forgot I'd given her my number.

Meet me @ my house. Discuss what happened. Sakura, Julia, Ianthe b there too. Ianthe found something.

I run my fingers through my hair. Jacinth's house is a long way away. I don't have a bicycle, like most kids at school. All I have is Randy and his limousine. He's my only method of transportation, but I don't want him to know what's going on.

I decide him to have me drop me off a block away. I walk to Jacinth's house from there.

*****************

I knock on Jacinth's door. When there's no answer, I ring the doorbell. She opens it. "Come inside right away," she says. She leads me around the house to the driveway, where Sakura, Julia, Halley, Arushi are sitting criss-cross in a circle.

And Alana. My heart flips in a weird way.

Halley, and Arushi are holding identical books. I frown. What is this, a book club?

I open my mouth to say something, but just then the doorbell rings. MORE people?

Jacinth runs off and comes back with a tall, tough-looking Chinese girl I remember from the attack. She was shooting arrows, right?

She holds up the book. "The minotaur! That's what the thing was! Look, I found it in this book. We need to figure this out-"

"Calm down, Ianthe." Jacinth says. Oh, Ianthe is her name! "We're a few steps ahead of you. Halley and Arushi arrived before you did, and it turns out they found the same thing."

"Hold on," I say. "What's going on?"

Jacinth looks around at the others, probably wanting help with her explanation. Nobody says anything.

"Fine," I say, running my hand through my hair. "Let me just tell you what I think I know, and you correct me if I'm wrong." I take a deep breath. "So Ianthe called Jacinth and told her that she found something, and Jacinth organized a meeting at her house, calling the rest of us to come."

"Actually, I'm the one who told Jacinth to call the rest of you over here. My phone was low on battery. I wouldn't have had enough time to let you know. Plus I didn't have most of you guys' numbers."

"Okay, so those people came over, only Halleye and Arushi got here before Ianthe, and they found the same thing? What is this thing....and, what's going on? The thing that attacked us was a minioter?"

"Minotaur." Halley says.

"Okay, then, WHAT IS A MINOTAUR?"

"A bull-man-monster thing from Grrek myths," Arushi says.

"Why would-" I gasped as the light bulb moment hit me. "Oh my gosh, not all of the things the Greeks believed were fake, were they? One of their myths was based on a real creature, one that hasn't been seen for centureis! That msut be it! An animal that was thought to be extinct is actually not extinct...only, endangered, right? That must explain it!"

Dead silence. They must be surprised at how quick I pick up on things.

Alana rolls her eyes. "Seriously? Of course that's not true."

"But-" I stutter, my "light-bulb moment" gone.

"Greek gods and monsters are real," Arushi whispered. "We're demigods."

"WHAT? WHAT IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!" I yell.

Ianthe shoves her book at me and smirks. "I think it's time we start our own little emergency book club."

~Sakura~
As the others chatter on, I stare off into space. Then, suddenly, something hits me.
That Chinese girl… Ianthe… She looks familiar.
In fact, she looks like someone, someone in a picture that I would know anywhere.
Zheng-hui Li.
Killed.
World War II.
By none less than my own grandfather.
I don't pay much attention to what is happening. I think we started a book club… Anyways, I'll check the book out from the library later.
After we all leave, instead of hopping onto my bike, I walk over to Ianthe.
"What are your parents' names?" I ask rather bluntly. What am I doing? Some secrets are not to be discovered.
"Feng Yan and Liang-ming Li." Ianthe looks at me curiously.
Wait. What if she knows?
I shake my head at myself. No, even if she knows, I must find out.
"Grandparents? Father's side." I ask her the burning question.
It seems to hit her, too. The Chinese girl takes a step back, looking me straight in the eyes.
Ianthe means violet flower.
Sakura means cherry blossom.
"Mei-xin Wang and Zheng-hui Li. Sounds familiar?" Ianthe says plainly.
I know those names like the face of my mother. Anytime, anywhere.
My hand moves to my mouth. My small eyes widen.
"So it is you." She whispers with realization. "An ancestor of yours, anyway."
I don't respond. Slowly, I start to get angry, but I'm not sure with whom.
"How many people…" She starts to ask.
"Ten thousand." I spit. As if that's my fault.
An awkward silence settles between us, and for what seems like hours, we stare at each other in shock.
Asian versus Asian.
Descendent against descendant.
"I… I have to go." Ianthe hastily breaks the silence my reaching for her bike. "I really have to go."
Just as hurriedly, I snap on my helmet and pedal far, far, away from Ianthe, from the granddaughter of Zheng-hui Li, away from that awkward, astonishing conversation.
Away from the truth.
