A
Q: What exactly is 'The Author Pairs Movement'
A: 'The Author Pairs Movement' otherwise known as the TAPM is a place where authors to come and look for an other similiar to them in level and genre and pair up with them to write a poem, song, short story, chapter story, etc.
Q: So...how are they paired up with their match?
A: Well first the TAPM managers view the forms that authors have filled out, and judging by the quality of the sample story (poem, song, etc) and the type of genre they like, the TAPM managers will pair them up with someone who is on the same level and likes the same genre.
Q: So, in the forms, do you have to give out any real information..like last name, address, email...you know, stuff you could track me down with?
A: Nope! You just have to give out your name (first name only) or your nickname, a sample story (song, poem, etc.), and likes and dislikes!

Okay, I thought I had learned my lesson to check the Chatterbox regularly; apparently I not. So let me clarify this for myself and anyone who cares to listen:
Phoenix- fantasy; descriptive writer
Megan (me!)- Fantasy; descriptive writer
Dustfingerfan (love your name, btw)- Historical or Realistic Fiction; action writer
Ema- Fantasy; both active and descriptive writer
Annie- Fantasy; action style of writing
Maggie S.- Abstract Poem
Falmiriel- Fantasy, Science Fiction, Poem; more active writing, but also descriptive
Jennifer T.- Nature or Abstract Poem, or Fantasy
Mai- Science Fiction, Fantasy; descriptive writer
So the way that I see it, Maggie S. and Jennifer T. should pair up to do an Abstract Poem, and the grouings of genre are as follows (not including those I just randomly paired):
Fantasy: Phoenix, Megan, Ema, Annie
Science Fiction: Falmiriel, Mai
And poor Dustfingerfan is alone in his/her own grouping of Historical and Realistic Fiction! *chokes back a sob*
So you may have been wondering what I meant by "active and descriptive writer" (okay, not really, but go along with me). A descriptive writer is someone who who is stronger with descriptions and creates a clear picture of the setting, character, etc. An active writer is someone whose strong suit is moving the story along, the action! So for the best match, ideally a person who is descriptive would be paired up with a person that has an active style of writing. Comprennez vous? C'est facile!

I is confused?
Am I with Dustfingerfan or Falmiriel?
(March 31, 2009 - 4:43 pm)
Dustfingerfan. :) I hope she comes soon, though--otherwise you may need another partner. *looks around anxiously*

Name; Meadow
(Poem)
the pages of a book,
they take me to a different place,
like a book with dragons, a book with dwarves,
or even a book with a bunch of chores,
any book will take me places,
all kinds of books have diffwerent faces,
some are scary, some are sad,
some sometimes make you mad,
same are happy, some are cool,
some have somebody jumping in a pool,
My friends and I once did a play about that!
I like nature poems.

Amazing works of writing everyone has. I enjoyed reading them all.
(April 2, 2009 - 6:59 pm)
That's great, Meadow! :) But unfortunately there's no one to pair you up with at the moment, so you'll have to wait a bit.
(April 3, 2009 - 5:14 pm)
Fine with me. I had to wait months for something before, I just don't remember what I had to wait for. I think it's music lessons or something.
(April 4, 2009 - 11:12 am)
Meadow, I can pair you up with Mai if you don't mind doing a story or if she doesn't mind doing a poem. Does that sound okay?

I'm probably too late to get a partner, but just in case, here goes-
Name-Caroline A.
Genre-Heroic Fantasy, I guess
A small girl thrust her near-frozen fingers into the dying coals. Around her, the other children huddled under a thin blanket, embracing each other for warmth. A boy wept for his mother in a corner of the shack. An old woman slept. No one knew if she would awaken. The few warriors that had survived the plague stood hunched under the icy winds. They muttered furtively amongst each other, whispereing the thoughts of every villager. Everyone knew that, should their enemies attack them now, at their weakest, they wouldn't stand a chance. The most powerful tribe in the Northern Ice-glaciers, reduced to less than two dozen warriors. The whipping wind, the bizzarely low temperatures, the plague, had weakened them. Their Chieftan seemed to be moments away from death. All but one had been tortured mercilessly by the cold. The adopted daughter of the chieftan, by name of Asha-Shilan was unaffected by the cold. At a mere five winters old, she defied the cold with every step she took. Her eyes were fierce, with intelligence beyond her age. You won't get my clan, she thought fiercely, Not if I can help it.

Yeah, it sounds great. Sorry I didn't answer earlier, I had to help mom and dad clean the house.
(April 15, 2009 - 8:29 am)
Ummm, is it OK to have an excerpt of a story? Because I doubt I could rap up a story in 200 words or less....
(April 12, 2009 - 5:05 pm)
Oh. Looking back at it, that was way too grim. Hm....
Caroline A.
(April 13, 2009 - 2:32 pm)
No, I thought that was fantastic! You really pulled me into the story. Never put down your or anyone's writing, period. A lot of us really don't like it, because "listening to the chatter", as Gail Carson Levine would say (read Writing Magic if I just totally confused you), is putting yourself down. That's self-bullying, and I am a devoted anti-bully.
*gasps for breath* *slowly ragains normal color of face*
Okay, I will end my rant here.
(April 13, 2009 - 4:11 pm)
I love Writing Magic!
(April 13, 2009 - 6:12 pm)
That's wonderful, Caroline! I liked it! I could pair you up with Meadow, if you want.
