A
Q: What exactly is 'The Author Pairs Movement'
A: 'The Author Pairs Movement' otherwise known as the TAPM is a place where authors to come and look for an other similiar to them in level and genre and pair up with them to write a poem, song, short story, chapter story, etc.
Q: So...how are they paired up with their match?
A: Well first the TAPM managers view the forms that authors have filled out, and judging by the quality of the sample story (poem, song, etc) and the type of genre they like, the TAPM managers will pair them up with someone who is on the same level and likes the same genre.
Q: So, in the forms, do you have to give out any real information..like last name, address, email...you know, stuff you could track me down with?
A: Nope! You just have to give out your name (first name only) or your nickname, a sample story (song, poem, etc.), and likes and dislikes!

Nathan wouldn't have seen it there in the dirt, except it sparkled and caught his eye. Thinking it was a piece of quartz, he picked it up and began chipping the dried mud off. Then he stopped dead. Beneath the mud, there was a golden gleam. Hurriedly cleaning it, he held it to the light. It was a pure gold medallion, set with stones, and inscribed with Latin words, and a picture of a book. Mentally thanking his grandfather for telling him to sign up for Latin classes, he read them. They said, "Everyone has the power to create a world." He would have stood there looking at it for the rest of the day, but his friends were calling, wondering why he was taking so long to buy himself a soda from the vending machine.
That evening, he sat in his room, examining the medallion by the light of his bedside lamp. "Everyone has the power to create a world"... that had to mean books. He picked up the book he'd been reading last night - The Horse and His Boy. Opening it at random, he instinctively placed the medallion on its pages and said the inscribed words out loud. The room melted and swirled around him...
He was standing in a desert. On the horizon, he could see a range of mountains. There were two people on horses riding towards him. Two people who were familiar, even though he'd never seen them in his life. Nathan laughed from sheer wonder and joy. This was going to be fun.

That was a condensation of a longer story I wrote, which I changed up a little (for one thing, the protagonist was a girl). I didn't do a word count on the condensation. Hope it's not too long.
Preferred Genre: anything. Fantasy and sci-fi are my favorites, but I also like poetry, and anything really (except maybe romance).

Okay, I either want to do an abstract or nature poem, but a fantasy story wouldn't be bad either.
So I'm putting two samples.
Sample 1:
Running (revised edition)
Running with the wind
Blowing through my hair
Streaming out behind me
Running through the night
Running to the sunset
Till the morning light
I'm running with the wind
Blowing in my hair
Streaming out behind me
Running through the night
Running in my dreams
Running to the dawn of day
Running with the wind
Blowing in my hair
Streaming out behind me.
Sample 2:
Lilalie Mundack looked like any normal girl on Desparin. Nature-girl clothes, companion faerie hovering above shoulder, spirit charm necklace. But she was different. She had the True Sight, and was a mageborn to boot. She was 12 years old, and getting packed for the inter-dimensional trip to the School of Light. She wondered what it would look like. She would be a first year! I wonder if Quasie will like it there, too, she wondered absentmindedly. Would she still get a magical pet to take care of, or would she be taken off that list because of Quasie, her Companion? She couldn't wait to see!

Hi, Megan, nice to meet you, too! Maybe *looks up hopefully* someone could stand in for GloWorm? I don't want to annoy anyone, but I'm really eager to get started.
(March 26, 2009 - 6:11 pm)
GLOWORM!!! WE REALLY NEED YOU HERE!!!
(March 27, 2009 - 6:51 am)
If Gloworm doesn't reply in about 3 days, I'd be willing to help pair off people. Not take charge, of course, just help. :)

Sample: Light streamed in from my window. The only light in
the world it seemed. The only hope, the only light. It was dark out still yet that
one light shone on. Only I could see it. Only the chosen four. Isaida, Ryina, Sasha,
and myself. And now we were on the run. Hiding and fearing the Colturns. The
evil force that now ruled the land. The Followers were always chasing the four
of us because we would always have light in this world of darkness. I was in a
small room where I had a small stash of food. A loaf of bread, a rotting melon,
and a bucket of ice cold water. I was to stay here in this room until the next
hiding spot was available although I had never met the other chosen ones I knew
so much about them. I knew that Sasha had once been captured by the Followers
and escaped; I knew that Ryina was hiding in a basement cellar in a run down
home. I knew that Isaida could trick the Followers into not finding her. I knew
all this because of a special connection between us four. They all knew what was
happening to me and the others. It was just one thing that the Followers wanted
us for.
. Genre: Sci-fi/ fantasy!
