I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. WHAT THERES A MOANA 2 all the sudden? Now I'm torn between watching it or not watching it...because sometimes sequels make a mess of the original (and uh...I wrote just the first chapter and outline of a sequel to one of my novels and made a mess of it)

ooh, there's a Moana 2? I had no idea... it feels like Disney keeps redoing its old movies instead of doing new ones, but why not keep a good thing going :D

Hey lizards, just your socially awkward pal popping in to ask what do friends do with each other?? It took me this long to realize I don't actually knowww lol. Like. Apparently my parents are saying and the book I'm reading says that you can just... invite your friend(s) over for dinner?? Actually?? I could just email/text one of my friends rn and be like, let's randomly have dinner! Or, idk. Be like, hi I'm deciding whether I should do this or this and what do you think I should pick and THAT'S NOT WEIRD?? Okay Ig when I write it like that it doesn't sound weird. Wow... I've always just thought of friends as people who are always there for you and people you can have playdates with and people you sit with at school and laugh with, but never really people... you just hang out with. Idk. Randomly. Just ignore this haha I thought I had everything figured out but like people actually hug their friends and take selfies with them without permission first (or just in general) and FaceTime each other and stuff? Feels like a moose. I know it exists and duh but still can't quite... process it. Ig my friends and I are just weird?
not saying I don't like being weird btw we all OWN the weirdness :D just wow Ig I never really realized... how out of the loop I've been until this moment/year.

Oh, no, that's like, the same with how I interact with my friends. Save for a couple (mainly Lux, but even still, it's rare other than shul), I never get together with them outside of school-unless they organize it, which is usually with other people, too (with a couple exceptions, but ya know). I can't use FaceTime/call them randomly (idk how to do that?? I mean, I physically know how, but like ya know?? idk) or like whatever. And wait-people invite friends over for dinner????? that's a thing????? And occasionally I'll text some of my friends if I should choose this or that but then again I also text those same people big long streams of stuff abt whatever I'm hyperfixating on/involved in at that moment bc it makes me happy so I wanna share that happiness w/them but I think it may just come across as 40 texts abt something they're probably not interested in (save for Lux, maybe lol)... but I was literally just talking w/my dad abt how i have no idea whatsoever how to start conversations? esp. over text? esp. w/ppl I barely know/don't talk to all the time irl/aren't super close with??? like how does one do that????? and then those ppl don't initate the coversations either so idk how to do anything?? ah, I miss the days of being in 3rd/4th grade and below when we could rely on parents to get us together w/friends (or that might just be me, and I'm using the royal we) so we actually hung out w/other ppl... anyways i rly hafta go and draw for two dif classes but yeah ik what you mean and also sorry for all the grammar/spelling mistakes my brain go wheee and my hands don't

Hee but yesss. Like the only times I ever text the like one person at my new school I'd sorta consider a friend are at very specific times twice in the year: good luck on midterms!! good luck on finals!! :p
To text more I literally had to make myself text her "are you okay with me texting you every Sunday" literally set a schedule loll. Meanwhile her just randomly one day: how r u? :// bc NEWS FLASH you don't need a reason to text someone, you can just... text them. :0
honestly to jumpstart conversations I just use my tried-and-true method of unload totally useless fun fact after totally useless fun fact/something of the like (there's a jellyfish that's basically immortal! Here's a bears-fishing-for-salmon livecam! Today is National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Front Porch Day (Aug 8, if you're wondering)!) and use that as excuses to email when I'm really lonely at my new school and need to talk to my friends. But WAIT I could just email "I'm lonely" and that would suffice?!?? Lol.

Me and my friends don't really invite each other over really, but we're thinking maybe going to the library (and maybe playing card games) and stuff, but most of the time, we just chat.

So, this never actually occurred to me either? I never realized you could just call and be like “hi, want to randomly have dinner with me?”. And I never really ask my friends for play dates either cause it seems weird to just go up and ask someone if you can go to their house or something?

I definitely did not spend the past hour (...very...productively) working on a part of my Mandarin final project by desperately looking for the characters and pinyin for "snack", "paintbrush" and "chips", and getting contradicting definitions, especially because idk when Google Translate is accurate vs. when it's not.
*wonders if the sarcasm sounds forced*

just in case you still need it, "snack" and "paintbrush" seem right (both characters han pinyin) in Google Translate... can't speak for "chips" though, 'cuz idk that one :) ooh Mandarin final project good luck!!
