Religious debates.
Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Religious debates.
Religious debates.
I don't think we should have any more religious debates. I don't want to point fingers at anyone, and I won't say names, but some of the comments and attitudes on these threads are offensive and hurt my feelings. As I've said before, religion is not based off fact. It's based off OPINION, and that's why no one will ever 'win' one of those debates. And that's okay. I like that we're all different and we have different opinions and feelings. But debating about them... that's what I feel is wrong. Because there is no proof. I believe in God, but I can't tell you exactly why. And I'm not going to try, either.
I like learning about other religions. I think if we learned about each other's holidays and rituals and ceremonies, that would be really nice. But debating won't get us anywhere. Even if we try to do it as nicely as we can, feelings could still be hurt.
You're going to say, 'If you don't like religious debates, then don't read them! Don't participate on them!' You have a point. But I think that feelings could be hurt by the religious debates, and not just mine. And we wouldn't want hard feelings between any of us, right?
Again, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone specific. I've gotten awfully heated too sometimes. And since this was a very heavy post I'm going to add a smiley :) just to keep things smiley. Bad joke, yeah. I'm full of them.

Manners... you're welcome, Lena, and thank you, R~D~. :)
Yes, *, disagreeing is a good, healthy habit that I relatively engage in (see teacher for details). I'm not disputing that. But keep in mind that this website is for constructive sharing and meeting new people. We can learn through our debates. Or we can offend people.
R~D~, you put everything beautifully. Seconded.

Oh my goodness, thank you Mary W. I was trying really hard to say what I wanted to say without going crazy overboard, and without ranting about the people I didn't name!!!
Thanks. R~D~ :D

Yes of course. we have to be realistic in that sometimes debates happen, sometimes feelings get hurt, ya can blab about peace all ya want but it happens. Shouldn't avoid religion altogether, as this thread seems to be leaning in favor of.

Maybe I haven't been clear- personally, I'm not in favour of stopping all religious debates. I'm in favour of less heatedness, more constructness. Or everyone could just stop being a bit overly sensitive- because that's what some of this is, people overreacting. However, we were getting a little bit too angry at each other. Or some people were, anyway.
Peace, *, is a different and very complicated matter altogether, which we probably shouldn't go into here.
