I think this is just wrong. This is not what America is about. Banning people is not the solution to this problem. I can understand checking people's documents, but not letting them through? That is unjust and wrong.

Our president, regardless of who he is, should not be able to do this. He should not be able to ban these people from our shores just because they believe in a religion which terrorists claim to be from. Also, my mother says our president literally does not read books. Which is another point against him and his executive orders in my mind.

It is only a temporary ban. While a lot of people were adversely affected, he didn't specifically ban Muslims, and he didn't ban immigrants and refugees from these countries forever.

It does frustrate me that people who have been waiting to come to America for forever can't, but the issue isn't black and white. I wouldn't say we shouldn't accept refugees, but I think the US Goverment, because it is the US Goverment, should protect American interests first, while still being compassionate to people of all nationalities.

It's complicated. I'm stating this in a jumbled, and probably incorrect way. Please don't take this as a statement of total agreement with Trump, rather as an acknowledgment that there are many sides of the issue. And please don't get mad at me. I don't mean to offend, really. All of your opinions spring from a deep-seated compassion for human beings from every background, and I respect that immensely. Every single person here cares so much, and that is absolutely wonderful.

I'm posting again with some news about the countries chosen, which you guys have been talking about:

Before Trump was elected, Obama had compiled a list of seven countries that could be some sort of risk. (I'm not sure of the details, but there was a list.) Our new president merely took the list and made a law. Nobody's said it here, but his businesses in other countries had nothing to do with it, nor did he pick the countries himself. The countries weren't chosen for their terrorists neccessarily either, when the list was being made, because their terrorist population was literally zero percent. It's true other countries did produce more terrorists, but that wasn't what the list was for.

(just adding some more facts to the mix.)

My pastor at my church talked about some of his Muslim friends, and Islam doesn't sound like a bad, terroristic, evil religion. I think certain people need to stop making assumptions. America has messed up loads of times. What about slavery? What about forcing Native Americans on reservations? What about racial and sexual discrimination? What about capitalism? And now, what about religious discrimination? Doesn't the Pledge of Allegance say Liberty and justice for all? We have not lived up to that. Blacks are people too. Native Americans are people too. Hispanics are people too. Asians are people too. Africans are people too. Women are people too. Special needs and disabled kids and adults are people too. The poor are people too. Muslims are people too. I say, we as CBers, with strong moral codes, should do something. We have voices, and we are going to be heard. We are the next generation, and we will not only seize the world, but UNITE it. We can do something.

So are we going to take what they give us, or are we going to stand up and take a stand? We can write. We should write! Let's draft some letters. Let's tell the President that he can't do this to people of Cayke's religion. Because if one of us is oppressed, we are all oppressed. And oppression--no matter what gender, race, ethnicity, or religion you are--is a sin.

There we go. >steps off soapbox<

I also agree with Kaleidoscope Gryphon.

This new ban is awful, as there are some people that are already in the U.S. But at the same time, being President means that you may make difficult choices that don't affect one side and completely affect the other. No matter who is President in the end, I think we all should show some respect for who is taking charge of that difficult job in the Oval Office.

And it is the people's job to make sure the president remembers everyone.

I haven't read any comments yet because I want this to be truly my opinion, uninfluenced by others. See, you have no idea how ANGRY I was hearing that. What Trump did. BUT might I add the court overwrote his ban (and another ban he put) because people were protesting? So much so numerous airports got shut down. That stops business, so the courts has no choice but to overwrite Mr. President *cringes*.

And let's say his ban was not overwritten. He would have caused a lot of pain, anger, troubles. The government better be careful. We, the people, stand more powerful than the whole government when united. Make us angry and that president may regret it.

Cayke, I am so sorry about how you are feeling, I understand. I might not be in your situation, but it's frustrating to hear Trump's ban. We'll stick together, stay strong, and all groups, ethnicities, and religions will unite for what's right. We can do this! I won't let anyone harm Muslims on my watch, nor any other group.

Did anyone go on any marches? I went to the Washington one, and it was absolutely amazing. Nearly half a million people, and not a single one was angry. It was so cool.

Also, there was a march in Antarctica. Literally, marches on every single continent. At least there was one good outcome of the Trump presidency - more than three million people across the country, and even more across the world, united. That is what America is supposed to be about.

Which Washington? The state or D.C.? Because I saw pictures of a march that I think was the D.C. one, and there were tons of signs with words the Admins would never let through. I didn't see any, but my sister said there was also nasty pictures on signs. I went to a march on th 27th. Not a women's march. Someone asked one police of the who was there to block off streets if that march was calmer then the women's march. He said "Oh yeah!" So I was curious, I would have called this "angry". Did you mean something else?

Also, I believe it was Embers in Ashes who said they wanted to move to Canada. It's not that simple. Canada has border laws. It can take a while for my family to go through customs to visit my grandfather, and all of us are citizens except for my father. There was a point when my family was trying to move to Canada, and it wasn't clear that my father would be allowed. He had a job offer, which I'm pretty sure normally makes it easy it cross a border, but he still thought he might not be allowed. This was with a family of citizens. I don't know whether you're a citizen, but if you're not I would not expect to be able to move just like that.

I agree on the taking a stance. Get your friends together and write a note to your house representative. That way, they will be getting multiple letters from across the states instead of one. It's a good way to show that you care and are concerned for the next generation, the generation who goes to college or high school or even out into the open after his influence. What will become of us? What will these next four years be like?

*hugs everyone* I'm so sorry this is happening to you all. This is really terrible. I'm so sorry you all had to go through something like this, witness the things he said about woman! *hugs again* I'm here for you. If you need someone I'll be here. <3

The whole awful "Muslims are terrorists" thing is like how in elementary school, one or two kids would be talking and interrupting class and then everyone would have to miss recess.. *rolls eyes*

I have to say, I think Trump shouldn't be doing this.

My dad has explained this in a simple way, through gun registration laws. Terrorists are just going to disobey them anyways! True, it would come in handy in a couple of suituations, but this example is just here to help me prove my point.

The terrorists are just going to illegally immigrate, so why should he be doing this? EH??

He can't just block people based on their religion, on what "label" they fit under. People need to be treated according to how they conduct themselves as PEOPLE, as themselves. This is very stereotypical and discriminatory in my opinion.

I don't want to offend any Trump supporters, by the way.  I want you to know I respect your opinions.
