@Kaleidoscope Gryphon, I am genuinely curious as to why you believe he deserves our respect. He lost my respect long ago, when the Hollywood access tape came into the open.

Also, there is reason to believe that there was Russian hacking in the election, making it neither honest nor fair.

I do not mean this post as any kind of criticism, but I would like to know why you have this opinion.

Thanks!

I agreed with Kaleidoscope Gryphon, so I want to tell you why he deserves our respect.

It's not just for him, but it's for every president. If you think about it, being President is an extremely difficult job, and without the President, our branches would not be balanced, and we may not have the government as we know it. If some people don't feel that they owe respect to them, then that is their opinion. However, being the President is an admirable job.

@Killim, Your argument is certainly valid and understandable. There's a good argument to respect him as a president, which is the argument that you outlined in your post.

Peace (hopefully)

As a Christian I predominately believe that God has set forth leaders for us.  We should and he commands us to follow them except only when they contradict HIS laws.  These are my beliefs and I'm not trying to force them on anyone else.

And what kind of country would we be if we didn't respect our leaders? Yes sometimes it IS neccesary to fire up back at them and right now is one of those times, but we should be giving our views in a calm peaceful way. I think banning seven Muslim coutries IS wrong, and eparating families IS wrong and I couldn't agree with anyone else more.  BUT Trump is our president, and I feel like a lot of people are overreacting.   Trump has a family ok?  He's not some heartless bussinessman who only cares about money or whatnot, he is a HUMAN BEING.  HUMAN BEINGS make mistakes.  There is a good AND BAD side to everything he will do.  And I feel a LOT of people are pointing out the bad more then the good.  (And yes I do agree this ban has like NO good in it, so don't think Im agreeing with it at all.)

Ok I have to stop now before I blow my head (like I haven't already)  sorry for overreacting, peace and pie and all that stuff.  Bas.

I agree that human beings make mistakes, but the President can't afford to make mistakes! He has many people to help him make decisions and to consult with. He needs to be careful. When his order first came out, there was absolute chaos because there were planes in the air at the time, and no one knew what to do about people with green cards. Sure, we make mistakes. But we also have to be careful. I want a president that's responsible and uses all his resources to make sure that his laws are just and clear, with no loopholes.

I really like this quote: "we should be giving our views in a calm peaceful way." I definitely agree with this, and most of the rest of your post. This view, about peaceful expression, is exactly what we need right now. PEACEFUL PROTEST! It's been happening all over, and it needs to keep happening.

I like your way of finding good in people, if not in ideas. I think that's the perfect thing to do in this situation. And it's true that he is a human being. And he has a family. And basically I agree with everything in the second paragraph--while many of his views may be horrible, he, like us, is a human being. He'll make mistakes, like everyone. We do need to remember that he's human, like us.

I, too, am Christian and I believe that God is the ultimate power, and His word is law. Trump's ban on immigrants contradicts many verses in the Bible:

Peace, Pie, and Whipped Cream with a cherry on top,

Thats it KG, preach it!! sorry had to say that, I totaly agree with KG, Trump may not be a great president like Abraham Lincon, and free slaves but he is still our president, we should give him just a little respect.

Sigh... I was reserching this a little bit and i have got to say, I think Trump was being pretty dumb when he made this ban. The reason he blocked immigrants from these countrys was to "prevent" terrorism. The problem is, the people responsible for 9/11 and other terrorist attacks were from other countrys completely. There is no plausible reason for these 7 countrys to be blocked!

I agree, Gared. Absolute catastrophe. This is awful. I went to a march on Saturday, and there were hundreds of people there, which made me feel that at least we have hope for the US. But...how could he do this!? It affects so many people in so many negative ways!

It took me several hours to fully wrap my mind around what's happening. HOW COULD HE DO THIS? It's tearing apart families. Friendships. Relationships. THIS IS NOT WHAT OUR FOUNDING FATHERS WORKED TOWARDS!!! iT'S THE OPPOSITE!

I just... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH

"Make America great again"??? Really? This is anything BUT making us 'great'. It disgusts and deeply saddens me.

A quote from my favourite book of all time, just because I feel like it fits how I feel right now...

“Sometimes, the wicked will tell us things just to confuse us–to haunt our thoughts long after we've faced them.”

l mean.....it's merely temporary. l doubt that Trump's stupid, he knows what hes doing. There's probably a justified reason for it that is not immediately foreseeable :)

What the heck. I can't belive this. Trump can't just do that.

Ok, let's review American history: some people are being persecuted for their religion, so they look for a place where they can worship freely. They go and cross the ocean and found some settlements in the new world so that nobody would chase them out of the country so that they could practice their religion however they want. But oops, nevermind, as our history teacher puts it, "sure, you can practice whatever religion you want, as long as it's OUR religion." Muslims are normal people, ok?!?! And there have been white, Christian terrorists too. The KKK were all white Christians, and they were terrorists. My friend's dad is a high school professor, and some of his students who were over there now can't come back.

By the way, 15 out of the 19 terrorists from 9/11 were from Saudi Arabia. Is Saudi Arabia banned? No. But other Muslim countries are.

And what about Trump ignoring science?!?! What?!?

And undoing everything Obama did to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline, which is what we've been doing in history, completely ignoring what the Natives have to say about it, or that it goes straight through their sacred land and their main water source.

I didn't know so much could happen to a country in ten days.

I dont't get how Trump could do this!!

Just for a fact only about 1% of Muslims are actually terrorists. Most of the Muslims wanting to come into this country are harmless and innocent families who need a new home.

And already only 10 days in, I think he's making and trying to make of the worst policies ever!

Um, well, most of this has been said for me, so I won't repeat it, but . . .

Well, one thing you have to say about Trump, he certainly acts quickly. How many things has he signed in the past ten days?

But I did want to throw my two cents in:

Literally one percent of the Muslim population is with, or agrees with, ISIS.

I wonder why that hasn't sunk in to him yet?

But, Caykey, besides indignation, here's a virtual hug for you. *sqeeeeeeeeeeze* We'll get through this; something will happen. No one's going to just stand by and let it. :)
