CAMP CRICKET RP!!!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

CAMP CRICKET RP!!!

CAMP CRICKET RP!!!

So some of us were talking about doing this RP where we made our charries act like ourselves and we all go to a camp and then discover that we are all from CB. In a moment of HUGE creativity (XD), I decided to name it Camp Cricket. I'm really sorry if anyone else made a thread like this, if they did, then I didn't see it. So. Yeah. We all go to a camp and get put into a cabing together and find out that we are all from CB. So instead of having a charrie, our character is ourself. So you act like yourself... and stuff...

I feel like the days are going a bit too quickly, because only 2-3 people get to post about each day. I'm not sure how long the camp is, but if it's a week long, this might be over really fast. I'm not trying to be mean, but I'm just saying that it seems a little unfair. (Although if I don't get to post often, I guess it's my own fault because I forgot about this for a while) Again, I'm not trying to be mean. Everyone's posts are great, but they go through a lot of the day very quickly.

Sorry, I've been meaning to post about this.

Oops, I totally didn't even think about camp length! Lasting the whole summer would certainly be plausible, and it will likely take a while for the whole story of the RP to work out. Though maybe three months is excessive. I'll do pretty much anything, at any rate.

How about we make it fantasy length? This means that it basically doesn't have any time restrictions, limits, or so on. We can basically go with the flow and adjust the time to fit our needs.

Good idea! Then we wouldn't have to rush ourselves to finish this RP, plus this makes it so we can add cool details and not be all HURRYHURRYWE'REGONNAMISSTHEDEADLINEOHMYGOSHHELP!! So now we can just take our own sweet time. (Yes, I got that quote from "The Lost Track Of Time." book.) I'm good with it.

I was going to join, but I couldn't find the thread!

Are you too far into it? Maybe I could be late to camp? Sounds like something I would do, XD

Kt~

I nodded at the camp director, my turquoise backpack slung over one shoulder. I was a couple days late to the camp because, being from Alaska and probably the furthest away, there was some  bad weather, and my flight had been delayed. I had informed the director on the matter, and he said he would personally pick me up at the airport, for which I was very grateful.

Once in his truck, he began explaining to me about the camp. "Jade is going to be your cabin councellor. She knows you're arriving and has hopefully gathered your mates so they can all meet you."

"Alright," I responded, staring out the window as the world flew by in a blur.

The city's scenery quickly changed to green, with more grass and trees. It was rather beautiful, so much life out here in this strang place. Beautiful houses speckled the landscape, near and far, each one at the end of a twisting gravel driveway.

Silence laspsed in the truck until he spoke again, "Alright.  We're pretty much here." he said with a cheerful grin, glancing at me as we pulled into a long, large more-driveway-then-a-parkinglot-area. "Your cabin is the middle one, on the girl's side. I would escort you, but I'm not allowed," he chuckled, handing her one of her bags. "Can you find your way?"

"Yeah!" I responded cheerfully, taking it and tucking it under my arm. "Thanks for the ride!"

"No problem! My pleasure!" he responded as I hopped out of the truck, my feet landing on the gravel with a solid crunch.

I wandered off towards the girl's side of the camp, my green eyes darting around more frequently as my nervousness increased to maximum. Well, not quite maximum. I had definitely been more nervous before.

The cabin loomed above me, despite its small size, and seemed very intimidating. It had chipped blue paint walls, and an entry way that led into a little porch area, with windows made of screens. I could hear people inside and hugged readjusted the back back before reaching out and gripping the cool,  metal handle, opening it. A loud squeak protruded from its hinges and I winced, momentarily pausing the process just enough to notice a sudden silence from in the cabin.

I opened it the rest of the way and stepped onto the porch, which was filled with disarrayed shoes and coats that hung from the wall. Being polite, I removed my shoes as well, following it with a deep breath.

No turning back now, I opened the door, then grinned sheepishly. "Hi! I'm Katie.."

"Did...?" a small voice whispered.

Does this work? If not, I can have the Admins remove it!

It's all good if it doesn't. Just looks like Y'all need a boost!

Bella~

It's about lunchtime, but I'm not hungry. Instead I sit in the front of the cabin and read when another girl comes in. She has green eyes, big glasses, and strawberry blonde hair.

"Hi, I'm Katie..."

"Did?" I finished.

"What?" she asked.

"It's a long story, but basically everyone in this cabin comes from the ChatterBox, and I automatically assume that you are also on the CB. Are you Katydid?"

"Uh, yeah, last time I checked," she stammered. I immediately brightened.

"You're THE Katydid! I can't believe it!" Katy smiled.

"That's me! Which CBer are you?" Katy asks.

"Oh, I'm Leafmist, but my real name is Bella," I say. "I'm really new, so you might not have heard of me."

"Yeah, I've seen your name before," she replied.

"Great!"

As Katy and I are talking, Chinchilla bursts into the cabin.

"I decoded the piece of paper!" she squeals.

"Really?" I ask, shocked. "How did you do it?" Chinchilla pulls her laptop out from her bedside cabinet, then shows me what she did.

"I Googled the message on the paper, then pressed the Option key. In English, the message reads: 'Hello, Cbers. Have fun at camp, but remember: there are no such things as coincidences. Good day!'"

"That's strange," I mutter, then notice Katydid staring at the laptop, a confused expression on her face. "Oh, I didn't get a chance to tell you, Katy. We found this slip of paper with this weird message on it." I show her the original message. "We've spent all week trying to decode it. Chinchilla (Sorry- I can't remember real names!) here apparently just found a way to decode it."

"Interesting," Katy says. "Should we go find the others and tell them?"

"Nah," Chinchilla says. "They'll be back right after lunch, which, by the way, is happening right now if you guys are hungry."

"Sure!" Katy says. "Are you going to come, Leafmist?"

"No, I'm not hungry," I say as I curl up in the chair and pick up my book.

"Okay. Bye!" Chinchilla says as she walks out the door with Katy. I try to keep reading, but my thoughts are too distracting. Who wrote that piece of paper? And how did he/she know that we were coming to this camp?

@Katydid- Did I control your charrie too much? If so, very sorry, and I will change it! =)

*slaps forehead*

I totally forgot about this! I'm not used to roleplays on DtE and my mental process works something like: "What RPs do I need to write for? Check Inkwell. Write for RPs. Done!" This one gets shoved out of my mental checklist! Bad Abi! Anyway, thanks for not totally booting me out since I've been so flaky.

~Abigail~

In the mess hall, a few volunteer counselors are handing out grilled cheese sandwiches and small bowls of tomato soup. Not Jade, however. As our cabin crowds around a table, she slides in with us. I inwardly groan. We can't discuss anything with her hovering around. The others seem to be thinking around the same lines. Felepa keeps shifting in her chair, seemingly eager to tell us something.

Sydney takes a huge bite of sandwich.

Go away, go away! I silently will Jade to, for some reason, leave us alone. We can't discuss this stuff with her here. She might not know anything—or perhaps worse, know more than we do. A teenage boy Jr. Counselor with shaggy blonde bangs comes shuffling over.

"Yo, Jade, uh, Joe, like, cut himself while slicing the bread. We need a replacement, 'cause he, like, is in the infirmary, so, uh, like..."

Jade sighs. "All right, all right, Charlie." She snatches up her sandwich and turns to us. "Behave yourselves." We all nod innocently. Jade follows Charlie out of the room. When she is out of sight, Felepa bursts out, "I decoded the message!"

"You did?" Maryn asks. "What does it say?" She leans forward onto the table, spilling her water glass. "Oops." She reaches for her napkin.

Felepa reaches into her pocket and pulls out a rumpled piece of notebook paper. She reads off it. "It says: 'Hello, CBers. Have fun at camp, but remember, there are no such things as coincidences.' "

"Well, that was helpful." Daira says dryly. "That really gave us a lot of infor—"

"Wait, hold the phone." Hannah interrupts, looking around. "Where's Leafmi—er, I mean, Bella?"

"She wasn't hungry," Felepa explains. "She's in the cabin. Oh, and there is still no handwriting match."

"I'm confused," the new camper, Katie, says, setting down her spoon. "What handwriting? What's this note all about?"

We all explain. "Oh." Katie nods. "So, you have writing samples of everyone in the cabin, plus Jade?"

"Well, yes," I say. "But nothing matches so far. Hey, Katie, we don't have you!"

"How could I have written it?" Katie asks. "I was in Alaska!" Still, she whips out a pen and writes a snippet of poetry on her napkin. "Is this enough?" I nod, and hand the writing for Felepa to compare.

Felepa holds the two next to each other. "No match." She sighs. "Maybe we should just give up."

There is a silence. Everyone is thinking the same thing as Felepa has just said.

Just then, Bella bursts in and rushes over to our table, holding a book under one arm and clutching a sheet of yellow legal paper.

"I thought you weren't hungry," Gracie says, amused by her urgency.

"Guys! Guys!" Bella pants. "Lookatthisrightnow!" She thrusts the paper at us, waving it frantically. I take it out of her hand. Someone has written on it. I read out loud:

"Doll bed. Violin stand. Mini bookshelf. Beatles Limited Edition CD. Purell hand sanitizer. Uh, Bella, this looks like someone's shopping list!"

"Yeah, but they must be pretty weird. That's a lot of random stuff," Jessica says with a laugh.

"Read it again," Bella demands, taking Jade's former seat.

"Doll bed. Violin stand. Mini bookshelf. Beatles Limited Edition CD. Purell hand sanitzer," I read.

"Huh!" Britt says. "What a coincidence. Beatles Limited Edition CD! I found that in my suitcase yesterday. My parents must have snuck it in as a present."

"That's funny..." Joss says slowly. "There's a doll bed in our cabin for my AG doll."

"Yeah, and there's a miniature bookshelf for all my books," Bella says, delighted that we are catching on.

Felepa snatches the list from me. She gasps. "Guys! Look at this! The writing matches!" We all crowd around. Sure enough, the handwriting on the list and the note are one and the same. "So, whoever wrote this also wrote that note!"

"That doesn't bring us any closer, though," Dawn says. "It's just proof that there is a conspiracy, which we already know."

"Yes, it does," Maryn says, leaning closer over Felepa's shoulder. "There are initals at the bottom of the list."

@Abigail A.- reaching over and spilling my water glass sounds just like me! I do it a lot.

Maryn-

Felepa decoded the message! I'm so excited, I'm bouncing up and down in my seat! We sit and talk about who possibly could have written it, until we are interrupted by Bella running in waving a piece of lined paper.

"Look what I found!" she whisper-yells at us, slamming the paper down on the table.

It appears to be a list. It says: Doll bed, violin stand, mini bookshelf, Beatles Limited Edition CD, Purell hand sanitizer.

At first we all stare at it, then Britt and Joss catch on.

"Huh, that CD was in my bag!" "And there's a doll bed next to my bunk bed."

"Guys, the writing on the note and this list match!" Says Felepa excitedly.

"That doesn't help us at all," Daria points out.

"Wait a second, yes it does," I say. "There are initials on the bottom of the page."

We all lean over the table to look at the paper.

"She's right," says Abigail S. "It says (I don't know what the initials should be but they should go here) on the bottom.

"Are those anyone here's parent's initials?" I ask, hoping to make our job easier.

"Actually, those are my mom's initials!" says Katie.

We all turn towards the newcomer, our expressions mixtures of hope and surprise.

"But that's definitely not her handwriting. Sorry guys," she says glumly.

"Cheer up, it's not your fault," says Joss, "and we'll figure out who wrote these even if we have to work until the last day of camp!"

Then a counselor with curly red hair comes over to our table to ask if we would like any more food and Bella quickly sits on the paper, and we try to look like innocent little kids until it's time to go.
