CAMP CRICKET RP!!!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

CAMP CRICKET RP!!!

CAMP CRICKET RP!!!

So some of us were talking about doing this RP where we made our charries act like ourselves and we all go to a camp and then discover that we are all from CB. In a moment of HUGE creativity (XD), I decided to name it Camp Cricket. I'm really sorry if anyone else made a thread like this, if they did, then I didn't see it. So. Yeah. We all go to a camp and get put into a cabing together and find out that we are all from CB. So instead of having a charrie, our character is ourself. So you act like yourself... and stuff...

I think that sounds good.

Dawn- As I sit down on my bed I wonder who planned this and why. My best guess is either my parents ( I hope not) or it was a very random chance (definitely impossible). I leave off my thoughts and unpack my backpack. There is a little bookcase in the wall above my bed and it fits all my books perfectly. Next I bring out my computer and plug it in. Mom doesn't know that I brought it but I decided I should, just in case.

I take off my shoes and climb onto my bed to work on my story a little. It is about a girl named Kara and she lives in the Star Wars galaxy.

I look up to see Bella or Leafmist come up and sit down on the bed next to me. I walk up to her and ask the question that was buzzing in my mind. "Who do you think planned this? I mean it can't be a coincidence that most of the Cbers came to this one camp and got places in the very same cabin. And if you haven't noticed yet that there are niches and shelves in the walls that just perfectly fit the things that I brought and yours probably too. "

Sorry it is so short But I didn't know what you would do, Leafmist.

Legolas says ofoo. Is someone sitting on you Legolas? Is that why you are saying oof?

I love my bunk! Sorry I haven't posted. I haven't been on CB for a while either... Guys, I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to skip the night because... uh, I don't think sleeping is all that fun to write about...

~~~~~~~~~~~
Abigail:
I blink light from my eyes as a gong erupts, seemingly in my ear.
"Whatimeisit?" Dawn—Elvina? mutters. I don't know what I should call these people, CB names or real ones?
"Six o'clock sharp!" Jade exclaims, looking much too chipper. She flings the windows open, letting streams of bright sunlight filter through. "Rise and shine, everyone!"
I hear the shuffles of everyone getting out of bed, gathering toiletries, and other mundane morning activity. When, about half and hour later, we are all dressed and ready to do whatever we are to do, Jade claps her hands. "Cabin cleanup, guys! Each group will clean their bunkroom and let's see who's is the neatest!" We all dissipate to our various rooms.
"We should all organize our own stuff first." Leafmist offers. It's a good suggestion, so I begin folding my clothes and making my sleeping bag.
"What's this?" Dragonrider says, suddenly standing up.
"What's what?" Leafmist walks over, tossing her duffel on the ground.
"A piece of paper," Dragonrider explains. "Look, there's writing on it. It's really weird, though..."
I peer over her shoulder. On a piece of white printer paper, typed on it are:
˙´¬¬ø, Çıers. ˙å√´ ƒ¨˜ å† çåµπ≤ ∫¨† ˜´√´® ƒø®©´†: †˙´®´ å®´ ˜ø ߨç˙ †˙ˆ˜©ß åß çø˜ˆçˆ∂´˜ç´ß. ©øø∂ ∂奡
"What the...?" Elvina says.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, this isn't part of the story. I'm telling the writers this: It's actually a code. I doubt you want to figure out the secret, but I typed something pressing the "option" key on each letter. WE in the story don't know this (you can have them figure it out) but it says:

Hello, CBers. Have fun at camp, but remember: There are no such things as coincidences. Good day!

Maryn-

I wake up from bright sunlight streaming inside. Ugh. I look at my watch and see that it's 5:50 AM. I try to go back to sleep, but it's no use. I decide to take out my book and read. Elvina wakes up ten minutes later, and then Jade wakes up the rest of the kids. The first thing we do is a bunk cleanup. Our bunk neatens up our own space first. It's a good thing we have this time because I'm a slob when it comes to keeping bags and things tidy.

As I take out my books, I realize something that I was too tired to notice last night. Every CBer's space has places in the wall that look like they were custom made to hold what everyone brought. There's even a little cabinet with a door which you can use for storing private things, or as a mini nightstand.

Soon my top bunk space is cozy and clean, and I notice a small slip of paper on my sheets. I snow the others.

"It looks like a code." Dawn/Elvina says.

We all agree to look at it later in the day when we are fully awake.

My bunkmates and I are cleaning the bunk room, laughing and chatting.

"Hey, what's this?" Savvy suddenly asks. It looks like a coded message...

"Whoa. I wonder what it means!" St. Owl exclaims. (OK, I'm using cber names. Sorry. I can't remember real ones.)

"Don't look at me," I say. "I'm horrible at cracking codes!"

"Hey, guys... do you think this has something to do with ouor bunks?" Chinchilla asks.

We all stare at her.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, our bunks seem to be made just for us. Joss, there's a mini bed besides you for your American Girl Doll," (DON'T JUDGE MEEEEE!!!) "and I have a spot for a fiddle," Chinchilla explains.

"Wow, I never noticed that..."

Chinchilla~

Leafmist, Abigal S., and Dragonrider walk in, holding a piece of paper. "Guys, I found this weird piece of paper, and it says something, but it's written in a weird way. Look," Dragonrider said. "Hey! We found a piece of paper as well! Let's see if it says the same thing." We all crowd around Dragonrider and read the paper. "˙´¬¬ø, Çıers. ˙å√´ ƒ¨˜ å† çåµπ≤ ∫¨† ˜´√´® ƒø®©´†: †˙´®´ å®´ ˜ø ߨç˙ †˙ˆ˜©ß åß çø˜ˆçˆ∂´˜ç´ß. ©øø∂ ∂奡? What doese THAT mean?" I ask.  Leafmist replies: "We don't know. We were hoping all of us could figure it out."

Just then, Jade walks in. "I see everything's clean. Time for breakfast!" We were hustled out of the bunkrooms and led into a large mess room. (Mess room is a slang word for the-place-where-we-eat.) There was a counter at the far right of the benches and tables, and the counter had plates, cutlery, bowls, napkins, basically everything you need to eat. Behind the counter was a dishwasher and food. I didn't realize how hungry I was until I smelled the food.

Yuuuuuum..... must eat.

Jade made us make a line to the counter. Then she took her place behind the counter, and started serving out food. When I got to the counter, I took a bowl and was served..... CEREAL?! No heavy meals here, I guess. I got out of the line and looked for an empty seat. Dragonrider waves me over. "Okay, I was hoping we could figure this out at breakfast. What sort of writing does this look like? Reminds you of a code? Familiar handwriting?" "You could take samples of everyone's handwriting and check to see if there's a match," I suggested.

 Leafmist and Abigal S. walked over with several others. Soon everyone was at the table, brainstorming about what it could mean. We started to take samples of everyone's handwriting, but when we finished eating, we hadn't gotten everyone. "Okay people, it's time for exercise!" We were hustled (yet again) out of the cabin and onto a dirt track. Then we did exercises like running around, jogging, and other stuff like that.

Then we had to take a loooooong hike in the woods, which was interesting what with seeing Mallards (Google it. Green head.) and deer, but there was no time to continue getting samples of handwriting. Then there was arts and crafts which was the only time when we had time to get more samples. We got all of the CBer's, but not Jade's. I was painting a winter scene when Joss snuck up on me and asked:

"Do you think Jade made that note?" I jumped, and in so doing spilled some paint on myself, but I was wearing painting clothes, so no great loss. "Maybe," I replied. Then ST. Owl sidled towards us while making a scupture and whispered, "But why would she do that?" "Yeah, why would she? It wouldn't help her position or anything."

Abigal had sidled over while we were talking, and now was drawing a fox while whispering to us. Cho Chang had also sidled over and said: "We shouldn't be thinking Jade wrote it, we haven't even compared the samples yet." Jade clapped her hands and said: "Time's up! Come up and hang or dry your art."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry if I controlled your characters too much. I know it's long. I also know I didn't add if all the pieces of paper say the same thing. I think one should say the message, one which deciphers PART of the code, and one that deciphers the other part. And maybe one that says something else. We should all decide together if that's what's going to happen.
Hey guys! SO sorry I haven't been posting... I kind of forgot about this RP since its on the DtE.
Bella~
I sit at a wooden table, trying to figure out what to sketch. I had just decided on a cat when Cho Chang (I can't remember regular names- I'm just going to use CB names) walk over and says
"Have you come up with anything about that paper?"
I shake my head and furiously sketch my cat- as Jade had announced five more minutes more than five minutes ago.
"Time's up!" I hear her say as I finsh my cat's tail. I look at Cho and tell her that I can't think of anything. The two of us walk to the mess room together, discussing Harry Potter. There is spaghetti for dinner. I pick up a plate and sit down next to Cho and Hacker Dee. He's kinda cute, in a nerdy sort of way. I quickly finish eating and dump my plate and cup in the dirty dishes bucket.
As I go to bed tonight, I still can't stop thinking about the piece of paper that Abigail found. I turn over and see the little custom bookshelf right by my bed. It seems that all the bunks have custom made little cabinets and things to keep the stuff we've brought. In my cabinet, I put all the books that I brought with me. It's somehow comforting to know that my books are right there. I pull out one, The Blood of Olympus, and start reading it. (I acutally have not finished this book yet. I'm almost done- PLEASE don't spoil it!) I read until I fall alseep. When I wake up the next morning, it seems that Elvina is already awake. I check my watch. 5:30.
"Ugh," I say out loud and try to go back to sleep.
"What is it?" Elvina asks.
"Nothing- I'm just tired but I can't go back to sleep."
"Oh. Well, maybe you can help me try and decode this paper. We haven't got a sample of your handwwriting yet- come write something for me."
"Ok," I hop out of bed and walk over to the table that Dawn is sitting at. She looks at my Spidergirl pajamas and the American Girl doll (DONT JUDGE ME) that I'm holding and smiles. I giggle too. I must look pretty ridiculous- a 13 year old with an American Girl. I pull a chair out from under the table and sit down.
"What do you want me to write?" I ask.
"Anything."
I pick up the pen and write a list of my favorite books.
"Hm, nope. Your handwriting doesn't match." Elvina says. "Thanks anyway, Bella"
I know that I'm not going to be able to go back to sleep, so I pull my laptop out of my little cabinet and start writing an RP post. I know that we're all together and don't have to talk just through the CB, but I enjoy writing. Dragonrider wakes up a few minutes later, on the bunk just below mine.
"What are you doing?" she asks.
"Oh, just working on an RP post."
"Cool. Which RP?"
"The one that I made. THe Magical RP with all the exclamation points"
"Oh."
Eventually Abigail wakes up, and we can start the day. I head into the bathroom and quickly get dressed- wearing a long green tshirt, frayed denim shorts, and low top converse- and walk out of the cabin.
Misty says icce. Ice? Are you cold Misty? Or do you need some ice for your lemonade? "Icce" I don't know what that means! "icce" Alright! Here's some ice for your lemonade! *drops ice into glass*
Misty: You got lemonade all over my fur!
Me: Sorry *scowl*
It's early in the morning, and I'm in my room, brushing my hair. I'm awake before anyone else. Suddenly, I hear a knock on the door. It's Elvina.
"Hi!" I say, smiling.
"Hey, Joss, I'm trying to get a sample of Jade's handwriting. Do you think you could get one for me?" she asks.
"Yeah, sure," I reply, and I grab a peice of paper and a pencil. I walk over to Jade's room and knock on the door. A very tired and groggy Jade opens the door. I stifle my giggles. Her hair looks like a bird's nest!
"Yes?" she croaks.
I clear my throat and try to act like an innocent little girl.
"Ms. Jade? My parent's forgot to sign my permission slip to go tubing. It needs to be singed by a responsible adult. So, can you sign it for me?"
Jade grabs the paper and pencil from me and signs her name.
"Umm... Actually, Ms. Jade, I was wondering if, you know, you could write out the whole permission slip and then sign it? Because my parents also sort of kinda forgot to print out the permission slip from the computor..." I smile a smile that (Hopefully) looks innocent.
Jade groans. "Tell me what to write," she orders.
"I hereby decleare that I, Jade, an adult that will be held responsible as Jocelyn's caretaker, will let Jocelyn tube, swim, and any other water activity. I also declare..."
~~~~~~~~~~

I hand the paper to Elvina.

"Thanks. Can you write something too?" she asks.

"Sure!" I reply, and write down the lyrics to Defying Gravity.

"Thanks again," she says as I hand it to her.

~Sydney~
I wake up to find my cabin empty. I might need to set an alarm. Pulling a sweatshirt on over my pajamas, I walk into the main hall, attempting to appear inconspicuous. Then I sidle over to Jade and hold up a bag of microwave oatmeal. "Could I maybe..."
"Well, we do have milk, but I'm afraid no microwave."
"That's okay." I wonder if it's possible to make the oatmeal over a campfire (probably from scratch, but I doubted otherwise), but walk over to another part of the room and grab a bowl of Cheerios. At least Baba Yaga would be pleased. [Sorry, extremely obscure book reference.]
I slide into the nearest seat, eat, and observe the nearby conversations. Everyone is talking about the coded papers that showed up the other day. Some are testing handwriting. When Cho walks over and asks me to write something, I write in my slightly messy, curving cursive, "Curiouser and curiouser!"
"Um, could you maybe please write in print?"
"Oh, of course, sorry." I write in less-practiced loose print, "Exspecto Patronum."
Cho walks away, eyes on the paper, and I am left to ponder my Cheerios.
The first activity of the day is a trip to the lake. I wonder whether we're swimming, boating, or just hanging around. My question is answered when I see several two-person kayaks and one multi-person canoe ashore on the beach.
"Alright!" Jade declares. "We'll divvy up who's going to take kayaks and who'll take the canoe with me, and then we'll paddle out to a sandbar you can get to through the lake."
I grin. I've done this sort of thing before. Sandbars can be really fun, especially if they're particularly shallow that day. Random games of tag in knee-deep water are surprisingly fun.
I end up in the canoe, paddling on the left side while Joss paddles on the right and Jade gives instructions from the front.
When we get to the sandbar, we find the water almost knee-deep. Jade pulls a small anchor from the bottom of the canoe and ties up the canoe and some kayaks to it. The other kayaks are tied to a second anchor.
Attempting to run in almost-knee-deep water is an arduous undertaking. It involves a lot of splashing and often results in being tagged in whatever game you're playing because you're slow. Because of this, soon every camper is pretty wet, but happy.
Fflewddur says fnem. Finem? That sounds like it should be a Latin word or something...But it's not...

Feleapa~

Jade cheerily says: "We'll divvy up who's going to take kayaks and who'll take the canoe with me, and then we'll paddle out to a sandbar you can get to through the lake."

Kayaking? I'm not the best at that....

Luckily, I don't have to do it for long.  We reach the sandbar easily enough, and I hop off into the water. Then the game of tag begins! I shed my lifejacket and throw it onto the sand. Then I start to run. It's a rather effective run, but it looks soooooooooooo dorkey and dum. All you have to do is step REALLY high. Then you run. The game of tag is wild and fun, but I needed a rest after a while. I Climb onto the dock and start to sunbathe. (Basically, I lied in the sun.)

As I look up at the clouds, I ponder the mysterius notes. Then, with a jerk, I jump up. I had it! I jumped back into the sandbar, and rushed towards Cho-Chang. "Do you have the note?! And know where a computer keybaord is?!" I wispered to her. "Uh.... yeah I have one of the notes, it's in my room, and you can ask Hacker Dee about the computer keybaord." "Thank you!!"  I say as I climb back up the dock. The rest of the trip goes bye in a blur. When we get back to camp, it's time for dinner/supper.

We all dig into the food, hungry from the kayaking trip. When it's time for us to head to our rooms, Cho-Chang nonchalontly passes me and slips the note into my hand. Then I hurry to Hacker Dee while Jade is distracted and ask him for his laptop. I plead with him. "It'll only be for tonight! I promise I'm not gonna mess with it! Please!" "Okay.... but why? If you need-" I cut him off. "SorryI'llexplainitlatergottagoJade'slooking!" I then scramble into our room and snuggle under the blankets of my bed after rushing to brush my teeth.

"Lights out!" Jade yells. Then the cabin is dark. I reach for my flashlight. I then proceed to arrange my blankets around me in such a way so that I can still breath but no light can be seen from beneath them. I turn on my flashlight and open the laptop. I then google:

˙´¬¬ø, Çıers. ˙å√´ ƒ¨˜ å† çåµπ≤ ∫¨† ˜´√´® ƒø®©´†: †˙´®´ å®´ ˜ø ߨç˙ †˙ˆ˜©ß åß çø˜ˆçˆ∂´˜ç´ß. ©øø∂ ∂奡

It came up with this:

Suggestions:

  • Make sure that all words are spelled correctly.
  • Try different keywords.
  • Try more general keywords.
  • Try fewer keywords.
  • Do not press the "options" key on every letter.

Well well well.............. I wonder if....

I then press the "options" key again. I gasp. I had just undone the code.

It said:

Hello, CBers. Have fun at camp, but remember: There are no such things as coincidences. Good day!

I shut the laptop, put the note in my fiddle case, and turn the flashlight off. If I had narclopsy, I would have just fallen asleep in shock. (The Mysterius Benedict Society reference!) I HAVE to tell the others!! I'm about to do just that when Jade walks in. I pretend to be asleep. And in those moments when I pretended to be alseep.... I kind of actually went to sleep for real.
