Admin Q&A quiz!
This is where we post questions that we would like the Admins to answer. Please remember to be courteous, and not act like this: "ADMIN WERE IS MY POST THAT I POSTED 2 DAYS AGO?!?!??!" Thank you.
Here are my questions:
How often do you actually get posts that have to be deleted? And...
Admin: Not often at all. Maybe 5 a year. More often we may delete a few words or sentences that sound a bit rude or in appropriate. But even that might be only once a week or less often.
How do you delete/accept posts? Is there a button you hit, or do you have to do something fancy, like make some HTML?
Admin: We look at the comments screen, set up by our Webmaster. First we read the whole comment, which may take a few minutes if it's long. Then we click a buttton labeled Publish and then Submit. That part is fast. That's it!
Andy P. C. say cnyt.

P. S. Admins, if you think that this will be a lot of work and bother, then delete it. However, if you think it might be nice to have something to do besides accept posts, then accept it!

I really like this thread! :)
1. Admin, do you guys ever not post a post/thread? For example, if somebuggy makes a post with website links or pictures with people in them, do you just choose not to post them?
2. About how many Admins are there? :)
Thanks! :)
1. Occasionally we delete a comment, but not often. We would be more likely to delete the link or photo and post the rest.
2. There are 3 Admnins.

Questions!
1. Didja miss me, Admins? Yes!
2. Do you see the CAPTCHA (Andy, Spamboy, Spam Boy, etc.) when you reply to our posts? No we don't, unless you tell us what it was.
Speaking of him, Andy P. C. says nopa. You're not an Admin, Andy, so be quiet.

Wow, the 3 of you must be really busy with all of these comments & threads! :) You guys are really great! :)
Thanks. Hearing from you all is fun!

*rubs hands together* I'll try no to be too nosy. ;-)
1) What else do you guys do at Cricket?
2) Do you guys have to dress all sophsiticated, or are you allowed to dress however you want (appropriately)?
3) Admin that replied to the Kapeesh question: Are you Italian or just fascinated by the Italian language?
4) What are your hobbies?
Hope that's not too nosy! Laterz!
1) Any and everything in the editorial department.
2) Comfortable dress is fine, not all sophisticated.
3) I lived in Naples, Italy, for almost three years. The Italian the Neopolitans speak is not like the Italian I studied in the classroom. For one thing, they often drop word endings.
4) My hobbies include violin, hiking, swimming, cross-country skiing, watching figure-skating (especially competition) and, of course, reading. I like to do almost anything outdoors on a nice day!

Admin: That is so cool that you lived in Italy! I've never been outside NA, but I plan to go to Italy when I grow up. One, because Italian food is great, two, Venice, three, well, Italian people are cool. :-P
And there are lots of olive trees in Italy!

That's cool! My dad used to live in India when he was a kid. He also lived in Mexico, Peru, Brazil...a lot of places.
Andy P. C. says xamf. He's said this before. It reminds me of Olaf, for some reason.

Admins, I have a question: Do you do your work from home, or in an office? And if you do it in an office, where is that office? Just curious.
Oh, and can you delete posts after they've been posted?
Andy P. C. says fbno. No fibbing. Good boy, Andy!

Hi Wolfgirl,
Two of us work from our office in Chicago, and one of us works from home! And yes, we can delete posts after they're posted, if we can find them.

Admins, does it annoy you when someone posts a thread about something you know absolutely nothing about? (e.g., I posted a thread about Tokio Hotel. Many people don't know who they are.) And if you come across one such thread, do you ever look into the subject further, to see if you have any interest in it? I've just always wondered that. =)
No, it doesn't annoy me. I like learning about new things. And we all like to know what's important to Chatterboxers and Cricket readers. Yes, we do check unfamiliar things out before posting comments about them. I've enjoyed seeing the astronomy photos and learning the names of all the musicals by Sondheim. And everything I know about Twilight, I've learned from Chatterboxers.

Awesome! =D Thanks for answering! Oh, another question: Do any of the Admins do NaNoWriMo? =D
I don't and I'm don't think the others do either. We have lots of editorial magazine work, which may involve writing, so I don't think any of us would have the time to participate. Outside of work time, I play violin in an orchestra, which requires practice time at home, too. And I also teach a class. But we're very proud of our Chatterbox NaNo writers.

I think that, in April or May or some month like that, on an RP thread, one admin mentioned doing NaNoWriMo sometime in the past, but I don't think s/he's doing it again. I don't really know, though...
Hi Ima,
It wasn't any of the 3 admins who patrol CB now...it could have been one of our summer interns, though!

Admins, Q+A: I've always wanted to know...
Q: What other stuff you do for Cricket Mag? Besides be Admins. Obviously. Because we know you do that.
A: We do all things editorial: select and edit stories, articles, poems, and letters for the magazines, review art sketches, plan and judge Cricket League contests, correspond with authors and readers, select. Selecting material involves a lot of reading, but we love reading great stories! We review and proofread various stages of the magazine pages, doing our very best to catch all the typos before the final file goes off to the printer. And we do many of these same things for some of our other literary/bug magazines, too.

Oh, there are summer interns? That makes sense; it was probably one of them that did NaNo. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that if it wasn't in April or May that s/he mentioned it, it was July or August, so I'm guessing it was July or August...
Anyway, I was looking at the Rules recently (I had of course read them all when I first came here, but that was more than a year and a half ago, so I'd long forgotten exactly what they said.), and I realized that one of them was to always include your name, age, and location in each post. Somehow, I'd never really registered that. Does it bother you that some of us don't do that? If so, I'm sorry and will be sure to do that from now on. Oh, and just out of curiousity, could you please say why it's a rule? I'm just wondering.
No, we don't mind if you want to leave out your location! I'm not sure why it's a rule--I think it's meant to be more of a guideline. :)

Nah, it was July. They said it in response to something I said about word-padding in my JulNo. I can dig up the exact conversation if you like - it was on an RP thread. Or was that not what you meant?

Aetc says hagd! There's a hag? Where? Or is he just hag-rid? Or is Hagrid nearby?
We're not strict at all about people following that rule. But we do like to know where people are from, because it's very interesting and we learn about different places in the country and the world. And age helps others to put your comments in perspective, whether it's a book recommendation or an opinion on music or a show.
