Admin Q&A quiz!
This is where we post questions that we would like the Admins to answer. Please remember to be courteous, and not act like this: "ADMIN WERE IS MY POST THAT I POSTED 2 DAYS AGO?!?!??!" Thank you.
Here are my questions:
How often do you actually get posts that have to be deleted? And...
Admin: Not often at all. Maybe 5 a year. More often we may delete a few words or sentences that sound a bit rude or in appropriate. But even that might be only once a week or less often.
How do you delete/accept posts? Is there a button you hit, or do you have to do something fancy, like make some HTML?
Admin: We look at the comments screen, set up by our Webmaster. First we read the whole comment, which may take a few minutes if it's long. Then we click a buttton labeled Publish and then Submit. That part is fast. That's it!

P. S. Admins, if you think that this will be a lot of work and bother, then delete it. However, if you think it might be nice to have something to do besides accept posts, then accept it!

This is a good idea, I think there are enough people with questions for the Admins that this might come in handy.

Admin,
Do you Admins have separate rooms for separate forums??
I'm not sure I understand, Vida. Do you mean, do we have separate offices for "Blab About Books" vs. "Down to Earth?" No. I sit at my desk and access the whole site from here! -Admin
Admin,
Do you Admins have one Admin aproving posts on one thread (or two) and that's why it can take a few hours if the thread is a busy one???
We have one Admin approving ALL posts at any given time. I come on and post things at the very least when I get to work in the morning (about 9 a.m.) and when I leave in the afternoon (between 4 and 5). I usually have a chance to get things up a couple more times during the day as well. In the evenings and on weekends, other Admins are approving posts. Does that make sense? We don't split threads up between us, we each have our times and days to go through all of them. The reason it can sometimes take a few hours is sometimes we get bogged down with magazine stuff and can't get on here for a few hours. -Admin
Thanks for answering my questions Admin!!!!
Vida
@ Wolfgirl67: This is a great idea to do the Q and A thing for the Admins!!!

Really smart questions Vida. Thanks for answering them Admin, very cool! :)

Do you ever wish you could chat here?
(July 21, 2010 - 5:09 pm)
That's strange, the Admin didn't answer....
Goodness, you're right! I cannot speak for the other Admins but I certainly have to stop myself from adding my two cents on matters of Harry Potter (an endeavor in which I failed yesterday). For the most part, though, we have a lot of other stuff we're doing, so we try and get your comments posted efficiently without too much dawdling around the discussions. I suppose the answer would be yes and no. -Admin

Great Thread! I've always had some questions I wanted answered. Admin, why does everyone say "Sorry about the caps and bold," after they've made a very, erm, loud comment? Why does having your whole post (or alot of it) capitalized or in bold bother you??
I'm sure I'll think of more later. THANKS!
I think it's just a general (and not particularly harshly enforced) preference for manners. Most of the caps/bold that people apologize to me for doesn't bother me, personally, much. But in general, we prefer..."inside voices," as silly as that sounds! I wouldn't worry about it too much, though. If you have a moment of excitement, that's usually fine. If you are yelling AT someone, or being unnecessarily "loud", we're more likely to quiet you down. -Admin

I know that it annoys me to see posts in all caps or all bold.
(July 22, 2010 - 4:43 pm)
Admins are there guy admins??
Yes there are! Well, there is one. -Admin
(July 22, 2010 - 2:00 pm)
Thanks!!

Wolfgirl, this is a nice idea!
Thanks Admin for answering all the questions! I think we all love to see comments by you guys! :) Now a question of my own. Admin, does reading all these posts sometimes feel like a burden? I know that sometimes when I'm trying to catch up on a thread and there are a lot of posts, it's does, but I thought I'd see how you felt about it.
We really appreciate all you do! Thank you Admin!!

No, Leaf. It's not a burden at all. We're always interested in what Chatterboxers are doing and what they have to say. It's like getting lots of letters every day, and no two are alike. It's a pleasure to help you communicate with each other. We marvel at the creativity in the role plays and other writings. Many comments make us smile, and sometimes I laugh out loud!
