Ok guys, so I was thinking. What do you think about starting a book club? We could decide on a book and all read it at the same time and stuff. Have any of you read The Boy in the Striped Pajamas?

Yes, you're right, Admin or Cricket! :). Ok: Narnia. That's my decision. The only question will be would you guys rather go in the order in which C.S. Lewis preferred (starting with The Magician's Nephew) or in which the movies were made/he wrote them? The latter would mean starting with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

And I think what I might do is go down the list and see who "signed up" first, then second etc. so far.

O.K., so I guess we'll read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first and then we should do like Old Cricket said and have each member pick a diffrent book each 3 weeks(?). So does someone have a list of all the people in the Book club? Because it could get a little confusing if we don't know who's picking out the next book.

Can't wait for the book club to begin!Cool!!!

 

I think I just posted a comment from Grace saying that she'd look at the posts and make a list that shows the order people signed up.

Old Cricket's right. If someone's going to choose the first book, I think it should be Grace, since it was originally her idea, and then whoever commented first after her, then the second person, etc.  OR, we could take turns coming up with contestants (only about three different books) and have a vote.  In the event of a vote, contestants for the first, umm, "book choosing" are, in order (not including my vote(s), nor any lists):

1: a Narnia book
2: a His Dark Materials book
3: The Giver
4:  (Tie:) Diary of a Young Girl, The Book Thief, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Mozart Season, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter
So we can vote on one of these.  Though . . . if you left it to me (you might not wanna do that!) . . . I think we should do either:
1: My Sister's Keeper, Wintergirls, or The Silent Boy
2: Snowfall, Chains, Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry, or Nefertiti
3: The Hunger Games, One Small Step, The Sky Village, or The House of the Scorpion
Then I think we should have a vote on which one everyone wants to do, but no saying (i.e.), "I think I want do this one . . . but this one is good, too . . . this one is okay . . .", because then it gets confusing.  Though, really, it's Grace's choice on how we should vote for/choose a book. :)

I've only ever read Narnia (three or four times) in the way he wrote them. So it might be interesting to read them starting with The Magician's Nephew.

Ok everyone, sorry for the delay. I'll post the list as soon as possible, but I can't now because a tutor is here and my mom wants me to get off! :D But I wrote down everyone's time and I'm going to go sort them. I'll post them later today in a new thread. There's another comment, on the second to last page, of mine that you should look at too.

I've only read the Narnia books (18,000,000 times) starting with tMN! I think it would be nice to start with tLtWatW, but Grace should decide. Which do you feel like reading right now?

Trixy doesn't seem to want to do a Narnia book. I think if someone really doesn't want to do the book we decide, we should do something different. However, Grace should get to choose which book we do.

If you decide that each person in order gets to pick a book, then I think you should stick to that. If one person doesn't want to read a selected book, she/he can just skip that cycle. Otherwise you may never find a book that everyone wants and you'll never get going!
