Any good books?
Does anybody know...

Does anybody know of any good books? I'm not looking for any type in particular, just something fun to read. Thanks!

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell was a great book. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is one of my favorite series; so is The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme. All of them are fantasy, because I love fantasy. A great realistic fiction book is Dovey Coe. East is also a great book, but a bit confusing at times. And now, to wrap it up, Lois Lowry is one of the most, inspiring authors.

I love Percy Jackson and the Olympians!!  If you read the post by S.F. you already know that.  And you also know that it was a summer reading assignment.  (Instead of having to read a certain number of books and do assignments on each, we private schoolers get assigned one or two books the teachers want us to read.  The Lightning Thief was one of them.)  I just finished The Battle of the Labyrinth and can't wait for the next one!!  Does anyone know the title?

I agree, East is a little confusing.

Oh, I absolutley loved the latest book from the Percy Jackson Series!  It's my favorite one of the series. I think they keep getting better. Another great series is the Pellinor cycle by Alison Croggon.

Dickens is always good. Shakespeare, too. Even though most people are all, ARGH, SHAKESPEARE @.@

Finally, somebody else likes Shakespeare.  Has anybody else read Hamlet, The Taming of The Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, or The Tempest?  Those are my favorites.

Hamlet was good. Romeo and Juliet = eh... Not one of my favorites. Haven't read The Tempest. *makes note to do that*

Taming of the Shrew makes me laugh so hard. It's just such a ludicrous idea and yet it's believable. Mwah ha ha! One of my favorites, too.

Macbeth is my other favorite. Shakespeare, had he lived in modern-day times, would have made a smashing psychologist.

*toddles off to find The Tempest in the big Shakespeare book from Barns & Noble*

Hey, I have the huge Shakespeare book from Barnes and Noble, too! It has like every Shakespeare play ever written in it.

We-ell, if you're fond of big, heavy, unwieldy old French books that tell a lovely story about, well, redemption, mostly, Les Miserables would be an excellent choice. By Victor Hugo! Mind, it was written in, I believe, 1862 so it's kind of... well, A LOT different then most of what's been recommended already.

It was made into a smashing musical, too, the third longest running on Broadway, but that's another thread entirely. :)

I would recommend Fairyopolis. It's a really good book, and I think I'm going to check it out at the library soon. :) If I liked it I know you will, too!

Oh, **** yes, Where the Red Fern Grows. That is the most amazing, saddest books I have ever read in my entire life. And I generally don't like animal books. It's one of the few books that ever made me cry though (along with Wicked and HPatDH when Snape and Bella died), so if you don't like sad books don't read it.
