Harry Potter
Yes I am...
Yes I am still in existance. Just... ummm... I got nothing. Anyway...
E. W. and I have started reading the Harry Potter series. I'm a little over half-way done with the 1st book. Elizabeth was in the fourth book last time I checked (she started reading them a week ago. I wonder if she even eats.). So far it's really good! It's right up there with the Inheritance series (no comments please)! What do you guys think is the best book? What house do you think you should be in. I'm probably Hufflepuff. I would've posted on the other Harry Potter blog but nobody would see my post because it's so crammed.

@Brynne: Yeah, skull/snake always seemed to mean bald. Maybe we should write to JKR and ask her. Also, he ISN'T tall enough in the movies! I didn't believe it until I saw GoF. But it was TRUE! He's barely taller than Harry!
Although, in all other respects, the actor is SUPERB.
Andy P. C. says hkuw. I think he's trying to say "haiku." He's writing haikus!

Personally, I hate the casting choice for Voldy, because he is almost a direct opposite for Voldy as I pictured him.
I haz list!
1. He is not tall enough.
2. He IS NOT TALL ENOUGH.
3. He has blue eyes, allegedly because they "show more emotion". What.
4. He is getting into Feed Me proportions with the ham. I mean, you can almost see him chomping on the scenery, it's that bad. Good lord, Voldy is not supposed to ham, he's supposed to be subtle!
5. He tries for humor, but it falls flat and makes him look like an idiot. The DH opener will likely be ruined because of this.
6. His fingers are not long enough.
7. He has no hair (but you knew that).
8. His teeth do not look like real teeth. They look like tiny pebbles lodged forcibly into his gums.
9. Would you like a bit of cheese with that ham? Yes?
10. He always looks really sweaty and gross.
Ahem. Sorry. Rant over. On the other hand, I love the original choice (Christian Coulson) for Tom Riddle (Dawson Casting aside). He was absolutely perfect for the role (thus justifying the Dawson Casting). But *dear* Mr. David Yates is apparently against Dawson Casting for the common good, and cast Mr. Huge-Nose Looks-Like-He's-Twelve Frank Dillaine in his place.
Random Pseudo-Interesting Fact: The actor who played 11-year-old Tom Riddle is the nephew of Ralph Fiennes, who plays Voldemort.

I'm taking a wild guess that the Local Brainwashing Facility is your high school?
(March 26, 2010 - 8:04 pm)
Either that or I.N.S.A.N.E. (something from a book called The Girl Who Could Fly). Except that that isn't just a high school, it's for all grades...

Yep.

Hmm..... Well, I mean, I always imagined Voldy as a dark hooded figure. And then I saw a picture somewhere of him bald. I think that the fact that he has a skeletal head makes an implant in people's minds. If he had hair, I would be super amazed. I just wonder how people thought he was bald, because I'm almost 100% sure that he is. But maybe not. Does anyone have JKR's email address???? ;) *laughs about TNÖ's comment about mind viruses* It's so true.

I remember reading once that his face was hairless, but that really doesn't mean much of anything. I picture him about the same as Brynne described.
In fact, I think it is practically implied that he does have hair. There is some instance in the 6th book (sorry, I just don't remember when) in which he was described as with his features not as handsome as they hadonce been, and yet not as distorted as they would one day be. He was in between. And yet, he was not described as balding, or with his eyebrows falling out, was he? So he'd have to have hair, wouldn't he?
@ TNÖ: But if he was resurrected without hair, and then it grew back, wouldn't it be mentioned somewhere? And I'm sure I'd remember if there was that much detail. Maybe he had hair, but it didn't grow back because there was some sort of catch to the spell, something causing his appearance to stay the same forever. I highly doubt it, however. What are the odds of something that strange, and for no reason, not being mentioned—or being mentioned and absolutely none of us noticing. I'd assume they were pretty low. So, I believe that Voldemort had hair, for all of the reasons above, and because JKR isn't generally very illogical.

I'm a HUGE fan of HP... I can't even tell you how many times I've read the books... it's gotten so bad that I know exactly what words are coming before I turn each page. But that's not really bad, is it? My favorite book is unquestionably the 6th... closely followed by the 7th. I don't know... I think I like the trio better the more mature they get. As for my house... meh. Probably Ravenclaw. I love logic puzzles and learning new things.
Once you get done reading HP, you should totally move on to Percy Jackson. And my new personal favorite (and obsession), The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
(and I'm brimming with other recommendations as well if anybody's interested...)

I started Percy Jackson before HP. I still need to read the fifth book though.

Yay, rather random, but it is late at night and I'm in bed so I'm not apt to say things that make much sense:
I finally started rereading them!!!! It's so much fun!!! I love to notice things that later are used so importantly... and I recognize names and Oh, it's just so cool!!! And I keep laughing at the fact that Harry, poor little Harry in the first book keeps waking up sweating because he's having nightmare about green light and wicked laughter. I can't help but think (and I've said this out loud several times today), you poor kid, you don't know what you're in for!! Gosh. Can you imagine?
Anyway!!! I happily started reading the second one shortly after finishing the first. Much better. Last time I waited in between books to stretch 'em out a bit, but since I know the amazing plot now, I very happily am speeding along, though not as fast I would like to, because I refuse to let myself read good books (ESPECIALLY HP BOOKS) close to bed time, or else I'll dream about them and completely mess up the plot. Gosh, I once dreamed that Harry accidentally killed RON!!!!! Not fun. Took me a while to get that out of my system. So, every night (since last night, heehee) I've been bored with nothing to do since I can't read. Hm.
Has anyone seen Linda Linda Linda??? It's really good. It's an indie Japanese film about a girls' band. Admin, I think you'd appreciate it.
And no, I'm not going to proof read, I'm too sleepy. Goodnight!!! Lights out!!! Ipod time!!! Have to clear my head of all those HP thoughts. ARG.
Why do helicopters insist on circling late at night? They're so noisy.

You're rereading them? Yay! When you get to the parts that have Voldemort, try and see if you can find any passages that mention his hair and eyebrows, or lack thereof. That way, we'll know!

Ooh, hmm... so, I started reading on tuesday, and it's now midnight between friday and saturday and I'm just about half way through the third... so my only sightings of Voldemort so far have been in Quirrel's head, and Tom Riddle. HE had hair, but I doubt that's what you're talking about. I suppose I ought to read more of this thread, huh? Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Hair.......
