book log 2024!

here's the 2024 book log! if you don't know how this works, here's the drill: once you finish a book, post the title and author here (if you want, you can also include your thoughts on the book, its genres, how many stars out of five you'd rate it, whatever). at the end of the year, you can see how many books you've read, plus you get a ton of recommendations from other people's lists!

happy new year, everyone!

well, i completely forgot about this! here's an incomplete list of the books i've read so far this year - i think i have a list of the others somewhere but i have to go find it

Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend (one of my favorite fantasy series!! so excited for silverborn - the cover looks awesome :D)

A Separate Peace by John Knowles (one of the few required reading books i've actually genuinely enjoyed :P)

The Shepherd's Life by James Rebanks (due to an inside joke with a classmate, i only read books about sheep/with sheep on the cover in school last school year...honestly a really interesting experience! i read a ton of books i wouldn't have otherwise)

Bellwether by Connie Willis (another sheep book - not my favorite Connie Willis book, but kind of interesting? it's kind of about fads and where they come from)

The Road to Roswell by Connie Willis (again, not my favorite Connie Willis book, but a fun read!)

Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann (a flock of sheep solving their shepherd's murder, need i say more?)

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman (a group of friends at a retirement community solve murder!)

Portuguese Irregular Verbs by Alexander McCall Smith (awkward german professor goes on adventures)

Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn (epistolary novel where letters of the alphabet become illegal)

The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman (Thursday Murder Club #2)

How To Solve Your Own Murder by Kristen Perrin (cool concept, but i thought it was kind of obvious who did it, and the writing wasn't the greatest :P)

Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson (cool sort-of-meta murder mystery that tAKES PLACE IN A SKI LODGE)

The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman (okay now that i'm seeing these all written out...i've been reading a concering amount of murder mysteries)

The Last Devil To Die by Richard Osman (...another murder mystery)

The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd (awesome concept, not-so-great execution :/)

Murder Your Employer by Rupert Holmes (ok now we're not solving murders, we're commiting them :D)

The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson (i'm lowkey obsessed with this book? mildly spooky literary fiction, awesome writing)

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (i have Opinions on this book that my english teacher would probably disapprove of; namely, that it's meant to be read as a comedy/social satire, not a tragedy...but that's a story for another day)

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket (finally got around to re-reading these books! i never actually finished reading the series as a kid (i think i made it to the fifth book?) - idk why but im determined to finish the series this time around!)

The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket

The Wide Window by Lemony Snicket

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald (wait why does the great gatsby follow the naming conventions of the series of unfortunate events books)
